About this property
Charming Cottage, close to all the sights.
Welcome to our very own White House. This charming little place was built in 1925 and has retained all of its original Craftsman style. It has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. It also has what we lovingly refer to as the ¼ bathroom down stairs. There is a full sized and well stocked kitchen, with attached dining room and a comfortably furnished living room. There is a desk to one side for those who need to bring a little work along on the trip. There are 2 queen beds and 1 full bed. There are also two fold away mattresses. This place comfortably sleeps 8 people. All of the beds and bedding are new and of a high quality. This place is in the downtown Nauvoo district and is minutes away from all of the historical sites. You can walk to the temple and take it all in. It is a block from the Dollar General and Casey’s gas station.

This property was great! The house is old, but that was definitely part of its charm. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The A/C was nice and cool. The owners were great at responding and happy to help with anything we needed. If we ever get back to Nauvoo, we would definitely stay here again.
It was a cute old house. It felt very time period appropriate. Hosts were great too! The only thing I wish it had was a porch swing or rocking chair on the front porch, so I could watch the fireflies in the evening.
This property accommodated our family well and we really enjoyed the time in Nauvoo. The host was also very responsive and kind when we contacted her a couple of times.
We appreciate the owner's efforts to make this old house comfortable. We know it's challenging but some simple improvements could be made: replacing or strengthening the dining table chairs, cleaning/replacing lenses on the fluorescent dining room lights (very dirty), replacing the dining room ceiling tiles (sagging and dirty), providing a suitable extension cord for the fan in the bedroom closet (no outlets were close enough to where we would want to place it).
The online listing says there's a washer/dryer but there is no separate dryer. Due to lack of space, it's just a small combo unit that claims to be capable of doing both washing and drying, but it does a horrible job of drying clothes since it does not vent the hot, humid air. Plan on hanging the clothes to dry, which can take quite a while with the summer humidity, or taking them to the laundromat down the street.

We had the privilege of staying in this adorable 1920s home during our vacation to Nauvoo. Marianna and Jenny reached out when we booked and made sure we felt comfortable communicating with them. They answered questions within 24 hours and gave clear and concise instructions. We arrived very late, but had no issues. The home is simply but comfortably furnished and decorated. Towels and bedding were good quality and clean with no stains or excessive wear. The mattresses varied in firmness but were comfortable with plenty of clean pillows. We were pleasantly surprised that the home had central AC, ceiling fans and additional AC units in two of the upstairs bedrooms. The 1.5 bathrooms are small, but we didn’t have any issues and we are large people. The home has been updated, but you can still see touches of history in many areas including a delightfully strange attic access that had my children enjoyed observing. We cooked all our meals at the cottage. The kitchen had everything needed for normal cooking. All the furniture was clean and comfortable and the television had a Roku device for streaming services. We had one issue, but Marianna and Jenny responded quickly and the situation corrected itself. We LOVED meeting our kind entertaining hosts in person. The cottage is walking distance to Dollar General and downtown shops, and around a mile from Historic Nauvoo. We had a wonderful stay in Nauvoo and coming to a clean comfortable home just added to the experience! Thank you!!
We enjoyed our stay in this charming home. It was close to everything we needed. It was comfortable, cool, and clean and had a well stocked kitchen. The full-sized fridge was a lifesaver in preserving our granddaughter’s wedding flowers. Would definitely stay here again!
We loved this house for our visit to Nauvoo. It’s far enough from the temple that we were t interrupted by other visitors, but close enough that we could easily get to all the tourist spots very quickly. We had a question about how the shower worked, and the owner promptly addressed it for us! The communication with the host was always quick and very helpful. We will definitely stay here again when in Nauvoo!
This was a great location for the sites we wanted to see in Nauvoo. It was also a fun and roomy house to stay in. The kitchen was fully stocked with essentials, the beds were good, it was indeed a charming house. The owners were extremely prompt to address any questions or concerns that we had. We had a great experience staying there, and would definitely stay again.
Perfect location for our stay in Nauvoo! Close to the LDS temple and historic Nauvoo. Easy check in and great communication with the host. Would definitely stay again!
This was a perfect place to gather with adult family members. We enjoyed the close walk to the Nauvoo temple, Old Nauvoo and the city. We were thankful for a cool place to recharge after a hot day. With the bedrooms on the upper level it was nice to visit in the downstairs. The parking was plentiful for 2 Vans. I loved the feel of a old house, with modern updates. Giving us a pioneer experience. We found the washer and dryer combo was a plus. Bedding and comfortable. Plenty of pillows and towels Checkout was easy and painless. We had a good experience with this place.
Jenny's place worked great for our party of 6. Check in was very easy. Amenities were mostly as advertised, minus hair dryer. Nice to have the half bathroom downstairs. I would stay again.
We had a fantastic time in Nauvoo. The house was perfect. Plenty of room. Simple checkin and checkout procedures. Great location making it easy to get anywhere. Very close to all the main stores in Nauvoo and a straight shot to the Temple and all things Nauvoo. Our host, Jenny, was very helpful. Great host, great home, great vacation. Thanks Jenny and VRBO!!!
My husband and I were very comfortable in this inviting and lovely 2-story home. Jenny was a delight to talk with and very helpful in getting us settled in. All the amenities were present to make our stay comfortable; fully stocked kitchen, bath towels, soaps both bath and laundry, loved the hand soaps, clean bedding...loved the pillows! We loved the convenience of gas and groceries so close by. Several blocks down was the Nauvoo Temple. Made for a lovely walk on the more sunnier days. Wonderful little shops and eateries. All within walking distance from the home. We enjoyed meeting two of the neighbors who were friendly and wished us a good stay. Home is on the main street, but was was not loud or busy. People genuinely were kind, friendly and helpful. We told Jenny we hoped to be able to come back in a couple of years for another enjoyable stay. Thank you again!

Larry and I (Jenny) have recently moved here from the Pacific Northwest. We are empty nesters who have found a little niche in Nauvoo. Larry and I met in London, England (at church by the piano) and have never looked back. We have 5 adult children and a very fine dog. We live locally and can often be found taking the dog for a walk usually to the temple.
Why they chose this property
Everybody knows this little house. It caught our eye when we moved here. We could not help noticing how pretty it was (lovingly referred to as the 'Up' house because of its very pointy roof and lovely front porch. It is just as pretty inside.
What makes this property unique
This house is in a great location. Just a short block away, you'll find a gas station convenience store with hot foods readily available. Just half a block further west is Dollar General. Half a mile beyond that is the Temple, all within walking distance. The comforts of home but the convenience of town make this a great option for your stay in Beautiful Nauvoo.
