Yukon Black Spruce is one of Whitehorse's most unique accommodations. Only six minutes from the international airport, Black Spruce features four self-contained architectural cabins, each identified by the color of their doors. Inspired by landscape hotels in Europe, the cabins are perched on rocky boulders, and set delicately in the Boreal forest. Guests access the cabins from a central cedar boardwalk. Large 10 foot by 10 foot south facing windows immerse visitors in the views of the boreal forest. A wood heated sauna is available.

What an amazing experience we had in Whitehorse. From the activities to the people, it was absolutely amazing. Black Spruce - Red Door was the icing on the cake. From having snowshoes available for guests to the evening sauna the Black Spruce was the ideal setting. It was close to town and all our outdoor adventures. Special thanks to Laird for his communication and swift responses when we had questions. Highly recommended!!! Thank you Whitehorse. We will see you again.

About the host
Hosted by Laird Herbert
I have a passion for design and sustainable construction, and Black Spruce was an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream of building a landscape hotel.
Why they chose this property
Black Spruce is built into the landscape. From the cedar boardwalk which meanders through a depression in the rock, to how the cabins are delicately set on stilts, to the large 10'x10' windows with forest views, the property is designed to immerse guests in the surrounding forest. It's so close to downtown, yet it feels like you are out in the forest.
What makes this property unique
We have a beautiful custom wood-fired sauna available for guest use.
