About this property

Oakley's Majestic Aspen/Snowmass Ski In/Out Home- Year Round

Enjoy this beautiful seven level home year round! This home is an expression of peace and love in every season. We have had many repeat guests. The home includes a beautiful hot tub outside, a gourmet kitchen and cozy breakfast nook. This house has internet access, so bring your computer with WiFi. The dinning area and living room, including the new deck outside are simply majestic; especially when viewing the ski area and skiers below!

The upstairs features two beautiful master suites, with a sitting area and fireplace in each suite. The king suite has a double futon and the upper queen suite has a single futon. This upper queen suite connects from the bathroom to a smaller queen room with a double futon. There is one exit for these rooms (ideal for families!)

Downstairs there are two twin bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each room and a large bathroom with a tub/shower close by. The downstairs also includes a relaxing entertainment center (on the same level as the outside hot tub), with a 60' flat screen TV!) wet bar and small pool/game table.

This level also has a queen and two single futons (yes, this home is perfect for large groups!). The huge new deck features ample seating and check out the chair lift seat! The views in every season are absolutely incredible!

In the fall we have Balloon and Wine Festivals and Rugby Tournaments, among many other activities and summer welcomes a variety of Music Festivals in addition to gorgeous hikes, biking and shopping! The reservoir where the Mastodon discovery was found is now visible from the large front window during the summer! Also during the summer there is the Elk Camp gondola ride with dinner, playground in Snowmass, rock climbing wall, strider bikes, lawn games, nature hikes, gondola rides and activities and more. Many of these activities are free and perfect for children of all ages!

Snowmass Recreation Center at the base of the hill by the rodeo grounds includes a pool, basketball courts, weights, salt water hot tub. Call for updated information.

The home is near the top of a steep winding road and not directly on the slope. This ski in/out home has many trails connected to the major ski runs and is only about 100 yards from the runs, which you may view from the rear deck of the house. The lift visible from the house is Coney Glade.

The Wood Run Ski Trail, leading to the slopes is only about 120' from the house-2 houses down.*Some access trails to the lifts for ski in/ski out can be considered challenging relative to your personal skiing ability. Some are very easy. *During low snow pack you may need to take your skis off and walk*

To Ski Out From the House:
Take the Wood Run Ski Trail. It is on your left at the end of Little Lane. This is the more challenging trail. Or Walk/Ski (or have someone drive) 2/10 of a mile to the underpass and climb to the left side of the underpass (there is an embankment there.) This is Adams Ave. Take this run to the Village below. This is the easy way to ski out. Walking to this bridge below is about 200 yards.

To Ski In From the Ski Slope:
Take the Green Cabin run and near the lower portion of the run stay to the right. Look for the round 'target' sign. Take the 'cat walk' to Wood Road (it is 2/10 of a mile to the house.) Follow the trail down to the left (it parallels Wood Road) and follow this trail to the house.

Gorgeous 4,500 sq. foot mountain vacation home overlooking the ski slope. Stunning architecture, ski-in-ski out (short walk to trails), summer hiking and mountain biking, rodeo, unbelievable aspen and fall colors, music, dining and entertainment in both the upper and lower villages. The directions are available. It is a quick 5 minute drive (about a mile) down the hill to Clark's grocery store.

This home is perfect for large family gatherings and retreats as well as for a romantic 'getaway', and the unique design of the home ensures privacy on all levels.
There is a 2 car garage and parking spaces around the house for 6 vehicles.

** If you book for 30 days or longer the 14.4% lodging tax is exempt and there is a 10% discount! We thank Veterans for their service and honor them with a 5% discount and give our loyalty guests a 5% discount as well!

Wonderful spot!
This house is amazing! I went with 5 other friends for an annual guy's ski trip and it accommodated our group perfectly. The views of the slopes are incredible! We loved waking up to them every morning with the sunrise, it was the perfect motivation! We especially enjoyed the vintage bar in the basement playroom when we returned from dinner each night. The decor and art/photography was also a highlight for us, you can tell the house is well loved by its owners. The house is immaculate and comfortable. Also, Sue was an amazing host. She was always super responsive and accommodating. We are hoping to return next year!

Family trip
The home was beautiful, spacious and clean with a spectacular view of Snowmass mountain. However, when I booked I needed 6 bedrooms in which the house stated. It appeared by the photos there were 3 rooms with queen beds which there are only 2 which led to a guest sleeping in the game room which is what was considered a bedroom. It worked out fine but technically there are only 5 bedrooms and a family game area that can sleep many but on futons. Overall we had a fantastic experience And wonderful stay!!!! Highly recommend this home for family vacations

Beautiful huge home!
LOVED this house! It’s HUGE! It has everything you would need :-) It is 2 miles from the base at Snowmass and the road is straight UP! If you are coming to mountain bike, know that you cannot ride your bike to and from the bike park lift as it’s a tremendous climb coming back :-) You can eat out on the deck, which is so beautiful! BBQ grill and jacuzzi work great and so enjoyed!

Great Location
The location is hard to beat for ski in/out access to Snowmass. Great option if you prioritize access over a modern up-to-date home. The adults in our group did not find the futons large enough to sleep comfortably on so they would likely be best for kids.

Beautiful mountain family home
It was wonderful to stay in the Oakley home with another family. Each family had their own area of the house so there was privacy, while sharing the huge common areas for meals and games. Being "on" the mountain made us feel like real superstars and the trip in and out was a fun adventure. We would love to visit again!

Magnificent Views ; Spacious Accommodation
This property has everything. It is ski in / ski out with beautiful views. It is well equipped in the kitchen and throughout the house. The floor plan of multiple levels and the individual room sizes afford privacy and plenty of common spaces for family enjoyment. Our experience exceeded our expectations. The owners might consider upgrading the pictures online.

Great for the whole extended family
We had 3 generations stay here, ages 1 to 76, and it was perfect. Everyone could have their own space and there was plenty of room to hang out after the kids went to bed. The pictures really do not do the home justice. The Great Room is truly great with amazing views of the mountain. The outdoor patio was great for morning coffee and a sunset happy hour! The property manager was very responsive as well. Five stars, will definitely return!

Wonderful home!
The Oakley residence is a wonderful place to spend time with family. You can feel the love the family has put into the place. It is not an immaculate, modern home. Rather, it is almost a time capsule… very vintage and very comfy! It feels like home.

Million dollar view!!! perfect location!!
One of the most memorable vacations with our family and friends. Plenty of space for 11 people very very comfortably. Teenage boys stayed downstairs and were as loud as they wanted to be and couldn’t be heard where adults were. The view of the slopes and mountain was worth more than a million!! Hot tub after skiing was awesome. The house is outdated but the house, location, and memories……..after soooo much fun, didn’t think about it again. Great trip!!!

Perfection!
Our large running team enjoyed this home after a grueling 200 mile race. The home was absolutely perfect!!! We were able to all relax, enjoy the fresh air, rest our muscles in the hot tub. There was plenty of room for all of us to eat. The property manager was an absolute joy to work with. She was kind, attentive, and accommodating. This home is beautiful, even more so than shown in the photos. Impossible to say enough how wonderful this home was! Thank you!!

Spacious house in a great location
We had 3 families with 11 adults total and never felt crowded. Full kitchen. Internet worked well. Hot tub was great. Clean beds and baths and good shower water pressure. Easy access to the slope, village, and grocery store. Had to call the property manager to get a few things and they were delivered the next day. Make sure you communicate with the property manager to get the latest access code as we had an old code when we first arrived at the house. Overall we had a great trip and definitely would stay again.

Summer in Snowmass
We had an amazing week! Four adults and three teens (17/18/19) enjoyed all the mountain had to offer. The property was beautiful and we could not get enough of the sunset views from the deck. The house is well stocked with kitchen essentials and well-loved games to play on a rainy day. The boys enjoyed the bumper pool and poker table! My only suggestion would be to put a television in the family room. We really wanted to watch the morning Wimbledon matches, but not in the basement. There is a small tv in the kitchen, but it would be nice to have viewing options in the common area to hang out together or chill at night and watch a movie. Overall, beautiful property and great vacation.

Outstanding stay in Snowmass
My family and I had an incredible time staying at this property in Snowmass. We enjoyed the large family room with its cozy fireplace and amazing view of the slopes and mountains. The house is very large and comfortably fit 8 of us with room to spare. The kitchen has every amenity we could ask for including a giant coffee pot and slow cooker. The dining table fits at least 10 people comfortably and the room has a nice open feel that flows into the family room. All of the rooms upstairs are a nice size with room to walk around and stretch out. The hot tub was a great addition to the end of a long ski day. We enjoyed our stay immensely. I would note that although most of us are strong skiers and fully appreciated the ski-in and ski-out access, the ski-out part did pose a bit of a challenge to the skiers who were just starting out. Overall though we had a wonderful stay and would gladly stay here again when we visit snowmass in the future!

Fun family place
We had a great time staying at this property. There are many different levels and stairs which gives the bedrooms lots of privacy and everyone had room to spread out in this large house. The home was very well stocked with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the time on the deck relaxing and watching the sunset. We went into Aspen several times and the drive was about 20 minutes of beautiful mountain views. It was a short 5-7 minute ride down to Snowmass Village. There are no ceiling fans so when the daytime temps reached the mid 80's, the rooms got warm (especially the master bedroom) and it took quite a while to cool down. Would have loved ceiling fans in the bedrooms! Also, the mattress in the master bedroom slants so one person rolls towards the edge, but the other side was comfortable! A doorknob fell off and the management was there promptly to fix it.

Pictures don't even come close to justice! =D
I can not say enough positive things about my first time experience with this Vrbo property! We stayed here for my 50th birthday, and everything went about as smoothly as it could. The only hiccup was the incorrect code was initially sent to us. However, communication was so upfront and forth coming with the property manager and owners, the issue was IMMEDIATELY resolved and entrance was gained. While the mountain was only partially open during our stay, we were close enough to the mall that driving down was a breeze. The pictures posted do not even come close to doing this property justice. Everyone's reaction to the view from the living room in the morning was one of awe and wonderment. I was blown away by my experience and amazingly grateful for the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful home. This will be a yearly event for me and my friends now for years to come, I am sure!!!

Bird's Eye View
The Oakley's home is beautiful inside and out. From the living room window, we relished each morning and night the routine of the mountain activities. The multiple snow cats operate all night, the cross country skiers and people on snow shoes parade by early in the morning, the staff get up early to operate the lifts and ride the snow mobiles to their jobs. During the day, we could see paraglider and skiers. Best of all, the Mardi Gras fireworks ignited within our view. The large windows incorporated the natural scene into the interior. The three large tables on the main floor allowed for kids' activities and sit down space for everyone at the same time. The multi-level floor plan gave privacy and quiet. The description of the house is accurate for all that is available to the guests. The informal Southwestern decor made for a luxurious, comfortable stay. Susan Oakley was most kind and accommodating to work with. I highly recommend this home for large groups. Our three generations of family had a terrific time here.

Majestic Retreat, Heart of the Rocky Mountains
Our family has stayed in the beautiful Oakley home in Snowmass twice (summer and winter). The location is perfect, easily accessible, and with stunning views of the majestic mountains of Snowmass. We were lucky enough to stay here this Spring Break for unbelievable skiing, and loved every minute of it! The home is elegantly decorated and maintained, down to every detail. It is well-designed, and spacious enough to accommodate several families without feeling crowded. Loved the kitchen (pre-stocked, they thought of everything), and the expansive living area with a beautiful fireplace has mountain views right out of comfy red chairs. Hard to beat the decks at this house, which overlook the ski area, perfect for barbeques and soaking up the sun. The teenagers and kids absolutely loved the huge den (movies, bumper pool, games), which also had a full-service wet-bar. The hot tub (state-of-the-art), has its own deck and was perfect touch at the end of the day. During the summer, the wildflowers in this area are simply spectacular and we hiked, explored, went to town (quick access) and returned to enjoy drinks and dinner with amazing sunsets. The owners are wonderful, gracious, and have thought of everything! We’ve stayed at numerous Colorado ski destinations, hotels, and VRBOs, and this is by far our favorite!!

Married for over 70 years with four children, twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren! Gary is the former business owner (currently consultant) of an international manufacturing company that operated in Denver and Chicago.

His hobbies include flying, working with inner city 'at risk' youth, philosophy and history. Both Gary and Jo Ann graduated from the University of Colorado and are true Buff fans and keep active with family and friends.

Jo Ann is a graduate of CU with a Masters Degree from the University of Chicago in Dietetics. Her hobbies include painting, traveling, genealogy and enjoying her grand and great grand children and she doesn't miss any of their activities!

Why they chose this property

We 'fell in love' with Snowmass in 1969 and decided to purchase condo units at the Crestwood Condominium complex. Then we found the perfect property and decided to build our family vacation home on this property.

Our home is in the Ridge Run 2 sub division with access to tennis courts (currently under reconstruction) The house was completed in 1999 and features breathtaking views from any of the decks and is still only minutes away from world class dining, shopping and so many activities!

Aspen (famous for being Aspen and it is fun to see a celebrity or two!) along with the gorgeous Maroon Bells close by), and Glenwood Springs (famous for the hot springs pool and vapor caves, and roller coaster, along with the zip line with spectacular views of the mountains ) is only 45 minutes away.

What makes this property unique

This southwestern style home is a gem! It sits atop the mountain with incredible views, and a short 15 minute drive will take you to world famous Aspen. The snow is superb from around the end of November through April, and oftentimes beyond.

This home is absolutely gorgeous year round! The Aspen trees literally light up the mountain with fall colors, and the summer is green and lush! The perfect place to mountain bike, hike, sight see and relax!

It is approx. 2 miles from the house to the upper/lower malls. An extra bonus is the free bus shuttle service from the Aspen Airport to the Snowmass Village Mall. From there you can get a shuttle to the house (during the ski season)(Dial a Ride taxi service is $1.00 (paid for by the town of Snowmass!).The public transportation is available from the rodeo grounds on down. Call the public transportation system at 1-970-923-3500 for more information.

Check out the X Games (in Aspen for free!) in January, Film and Music Festivals throughout the year as well as rodeos, hiking, biking, gondola rides and numerous children's activities in the summer.

Also of interest is the site of the internationally acclaimed Mastodon unearthing, one of the world's greatest archaeological discoveries! Check out the latest events online!
