About this property

If you are looking for a place to kick back and relax, you have found it. Tucked into the woods yet just a few minutes from town we have a get-a-way cottage with 50 feet of frontage on Lake Salem. Watch the sun rise over the lake from our screened in porch with patio sofa or the patio dining set. Take one of the two kayaks, stand up paddle board or even the pedal boat out on the lake to catch the sun setting. Our cottage has three bedrooms, and one bath with a stand up shower. The three bedrooms are on the upper level with the master bedroom containing two queen beds, one bedroom with one queen bed, and a third bedroom with one queen bed. Open living/dining and kitchen areas are downstairs. Nice rustic pine interior gives that Vermont cabin feel. We have all the amenities including stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, gas grill, etc. We also have cable TV and wireless internet. The beach area is great for small children as the water is shallow and warms quickly in the spring. Lake Salem is one of the cleanest lakes in Vermont and is great for all kinds of recreation. This is an excellent lake for fishing and swimming, and is also gorgeous during fall foliage season. A treed lot boundary maintains privacy and a peaceful lake setting.

Great spot

Very much enjoyed our stay! Beautiful location, comfy beds, well appointed kitchen. Morning coffee on the screen porch was delightful. Happy for the cable tv to keep our eye on the Euro Cup.

Peaceful and quiet…

We enjoyed the quiet place especially the veranda where we had all our meals. My kids enjoyed kayaking and using the paddle board. We recommand this place!

Perfect lakeside spot

The house was super spotless when we checked in, even cleaner then last year when we stayed here. The kayaks and paddle board make it easy to get out on the lake, or you can watch a sunrise over the water from the comfort of the screened in porch. There are stores and restaurants close by so you can be as remote or connected as you want.

This place is simply awesome. If peace, quiet, and tranquility is what you're looking for, you'll find it here. Stunning views of lake Salem. Sunset while sitting on the shore are unforgettable. We will certainly be back as soon as we can. It's quaint, but with all the comfort of home.

Peaceful week!

We had beautiful week. Nice cabin. The screen porch overlooking the lake was great. Owner was very nice. There was nothing in listing about bedding not provided. Pictures were taken with bedding on the beds. A Dock would have been huge plus. Very good value for the price.

Everything was even better than expected. Nice furnishings, wonderful back porch overlooking the lake. Ideal water access for kayaking. Appreciated Matt’s helpful and prompt communication. Even with a lot of rain in the forecast, it was a fabulous week!

VT Getaway

After canceling our out of state vacation plans we needed a VT getaway. A house on the lake was perfect choice. COVID made me a bit overzealous and anxious so we overpacked...by a lot. Didn't realize there would be TP, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap and other cleaning products so I packed all that stuff unnecessarily. I also brought games but there were several there already with videos too.. Beds were abundant and comfortable with mattress covers, which I appreciated. Paddle boat, kayak and canoe were nice to have available for use too. Wish there had been one more kayak though. We used the grill twice but couldn't seem to get temp up to what we needed so we finished on stovetop and in oven. Not a big deal for us. Fire pit was great! Wood was on site with lighter fluid. Overall we had all that we needed and had a great time! We would recommend and stay again.

Lake Salem cottage

We had a delightful stay at this cottage despite cloudy and rainy weather all week. The cottage was very comfortable on cooler days. We enjoyed seeing ducks, loons, kingfishers and great blue herons while sitting on the porch.

Rest, relaxation and kingfishers

Great, quiet place to get away. Cottage was clean, well maintained and stocked with everything you could need. I was surprised to find the lake so warm being that far north; but still very refreshing for a mid-August swim. Enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boat. Mornings were spent on the porch watching the kingfishers fishing (as they will do). Loons sang in the evenings after sunset. Can't say enough good things about this rental: 5 stars!

Cute & Clean Lake Cabin

Had a fun week with great lake & sunset views. The house was very clean and there were surprisingly no bugs inside the entire week. The porch is the perfect hangout spot as well. The stairway was a little steep with only one railing so be careful with kids. But other than that it was a wonderful little lake vacation spot!

The Perfect Spot

If you are looking for a relaxing place, this is it! My friends and I spent a week enjoying time on the porch, the beautiful fall foliage, sun rises over the lake. We had everything we needed, the house was clean and neat. We also enjoyed spending time at Lavender Essential Farm which as the most breath taking views in NH, pack a lunch and go enjoy! Also don't miss Jeds Maple Farm for delicious high grade products, Pick and Shovel is a great general store and don't forget your Maple Creeme!

Relaxing and convenient

We enjoyed our stay. Our favorite part of the house was utilizing the front porch. The shallow water directly in front of the house would be most ideal for toddlers, but if you go out 150 ft or more then swimming becomes possible. Very convenient location to things we enjoyed in the area Newport, Clyde River kayaking, breweries, hiking and Lake Willoughby.

We love it here

This is our second summer staying here and it’s just beautiful. The lake is so clean and shallow, perfect for our young boys. Nothing beats walking out the back porch right to the water. The screened in porch is the best, we ate all our meals there, plus lounged and slept on the big couch. We did not want to leave!

We spend most of our time on the beautiful screened porch watching the loons float by. The lake was very quiet, even on the weekends. A wonderful vacation.

Quiet and tranquil

The screened porch overlooking the lake was the best part. The morning sun shines right on the camp. Neighboring lots are close with some tree buffers but were vacant for our stay. Really wished there was a dock at the property. Area is shallow and sandy in front with stepping stones into the water. Enjoyed paddling the kayaks and listening to the loons. Camp is older but has had some upgrades. In the new age of technology finding enough outlets was tricky. Bath and shower small. Stairs from bedrooms tricky during night trips. Better lighting would help. Overall cute camp that met our needs at a nice price. What we were looking for coming out of COVID.

The cottage is on a good location on a great little lake. It was very clean, had everything that we needed and the neighbors were great. We watched numerous types of birds everyday. We would come back and recommend it to others.

Perfect lakefront cottage in NEK

Very clean cottage. We enjoyed spending time on the screen porch, swimming, kayaking and fishing on Lake Salem. Easy day trips to Lake Willoughby, Stowe and local hikes. Owner is friendly and easy to communicate with. Cottage easily fit our family of 6. Kitchen had everything we needed.

Nice spot!

Our family enjoyed our stay. The lake in front of the house was shallow and perfect for our youngest to swim safely. Owner also provided a few boats which was great for older kids to enjoy and use for fishing. My favorite part was the screened in porch. Perfect for eating, reading, and enjoying view of the lake.
