Enjoy the New York skyline without the Manhattan price tag
This sleepy little borough in New Jersey is aptly named Edgewater, for it sits on the banks of the Hudson River. Want a room with a view? With Edgewater vacation rentals, you'll probably get 1 of the Manhattan skyline. This used to be an industrial hub—in fact, Dove Soap was invented here—but now it's a quiet respite from the city that never sleeps. And of course, Edgewater has lots of something you can never find in nearby Manhattan: parking! Or better yet, ditch the car and take the Edgewater Ferry to the neon lights of Broadway.
Escape the crowded concrete jungle at a quiet Edgewater park
You'll find a few good parks here, including Fort Lee Historic Park with its reconstructed Revolutionary War camp. You'll love the lake at the sprawling James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park, which sits on a clifftop and has trails and sports facilities. If you and the fam are in a New York state of mind, take the ferry across the river to the Children's Museum of Manhanttan. And just 7 miles away from most Edgewater vacation rentals, you've also got Harlem's famous Apollo Theater, as well as the famed Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden.
Get to NYC in a New York Minute from this riverside borough
Wander the waterfront on the River Walk, which has pedestrian paths and views of the Hudson and Manhattan. If you're itchin' for NYC, take the Edgewater Ferry from the marina. Edgewater's marina also has boat rentals and summer concerts. There are several shopping plazas that overlook the river, including a large Asian marketplace and authentic Japanese restaurants with delicious ramen and sushi. Catch a flick at the multiplex movie theater, or enjoy some dinner at 1 of the dockside restaurants. Fancy a football game or concert? The Jets and the Giants play at MetLife Stadium, 10 miles away.
Each season has a little somethin' special for sightseeing
With Edgewater vacation rentals, you'll get the glory of all 4 seasons, from vivid fall foliage to fat winter snowflakes. The summer months get up to the 80s, with some humidity to boot, which is why a lot of New Yorkers leave in August. And that means less crowded sidewalks for you. There's decent rainfall year-round, and from April to October you might see some lightning illuminate the skyline when thunderstorms roll through. If you're hitting Broadway, tickets are easier to come by in late winter and early fall. Expect Manhattan crowds during Christmas, along with lovely holiday lights.
