**Parents travelling with children: our home is set up to host children under 10 years of age. Please message the host to inquire about the list of concerns we have regarding young visitors should you have any questions.
Casa de la Reina is a lovely private home owned and designed by a veterinarian/zoologist couple with a dream of creating a sanctuary where people and wildlife can co-exist in a peaceful and harmonious environment.
Nestled in a serene and peaceful jungle setting, with a botanical garden designed specifically to attract visiting wildlife, Casa de la Reina has become known for the amazing variety of animals that visit on a daily basis.
We're located near the heart of Manuel Antonio, only a 3-minute drive to Quepos town and its stores, restaurants, discos, farmer's market and famous Pez Marina, and 3 miles from world-famous Manuel Antonio National Park with its gorgeous beaches, excellent restaurants, unique shops, live music, nightlife and more!
Our home boasts a one-of-a-kind chef's dream kitchen.
The kitchen is spacious, generous with top amenities and filled with everything you need to cook your own masterpieces. It features a custom-made kitchen table/island that comfortably seats six and overlooks the living room with its high ceilings and spectacular view of the gorgeous deck and infinity pool.
Our amazing deck is partially covered so folks can eat outside on the beautiful Guanacaste wood dining table and happily converse in comfort - even in a jungle downpour. Grill tasty meals on the propane BBQ grill, relax on our comfy lounge chairs, take a nap on our giant hammock!
Our three bedrooms each have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows that open up onto the pool deck, with views of the lush jungle garden, luxuriously comfortable beds, super-quiet A/C and powerful overhead fans.
There are two bathrooms, one shared and a master bath, both with spacious standing showers with built-in shelves for shampoos and body wash, plus ample room in our bathroom cabinets for toiletries.
The living room is airey with a gorgeous high ceiling and sliding glass door that opens onto the pool deck. It's furnished with a cozy love chair, a super-comfy couch (extra long and specially-designed for even a very tall person to get a wonderful night’s sleep).
Lush with palms, flowering fruit trees, towering jungle trees and colorful flowers, our jungle garden is a haven for exotic birds, butterflies, iguanas, monkeys, macaws, sloths and more - it's a little paradise, and we are blessed by an amazing variety of wildlife that visit us throughout the year.
Other Info:
For the security of our home and neighbors, we do not offer self check-in and prefer to meet our guests in person, so the host or co-host will contact the guests before they arrive with check -in instructions.
Because our house can be tricky to find the first time, our concierge will send a location pin and directions with pictures to assist visitors arriving.
While we only have parking for one car within our security gate, we do have room for another just outside our gate, which is monitored by 24-hour security cameras and very bright motion-detector lights.
The road to our house is a community road, not owned by us. Like many roads in Costa Rica, the road is narrow, gravel, branches out in several directions and bumpy in places, but it does not require a 4-wheel drive, and the only steep section of the road is short, and paved.
Our team is available at most hours to help our guests during their stay, and guests can call the host or co-host directly if they have questions about anything or if anything needs attention in the home.
We can arrange transport/tours/airport pickup and/or delivery if needed.

Because we believe in transparency when it comes to what we expect from our guests, we ask you to read our house rules before your stay.
You are welcomed guests in our home, and we want you to feel at home, but please treat our home with respect.
Please don't remove anything from our property - they belong here.
(Don't take our bath towels to the beach, borrow silverware or dishes to have a picnic, etc.)
We take full picture inventory before and after each reservation and we don't want to have to charge you for missing items!
For the security of our home, guests and neighbors, no unauthorized visitors are allowed in our home or on our property, and we reserve the right to request passport photo-ID of all adults staying in the home.
Bath towels and linens are costly. Please don't use our bath towels to remove *makeup, sunscreen or oils, clean up spills, wipe dirty feet, wash your car, etc..
Wash off sunscreen or oil before using towels, getting into bed or sitting on furniture. Sunscreen and oils leave stains that can't be removed.
Please don't take our bath towels or other linen to the beach.
*(We have dark blue wash towels for makeup removal, and paper towels are located in kitchen, cleaning supplies and rags are located under kitchen sink, in bathrooms and in laundry room.)
Costa Rica has fragile septic systems!
Please don't put paper, wipes or hygiene products in the toilets - even products that say "flushable." Put them in trash bin next to toilet.
(Paper products of any kind hurt our septic system!)
We are proud to be an eco-friendly, energy-conscious country. Here are ways to help us conserve energy:
- Keep bedroom doors closed when A/C is on so that cold air doesn't get wasted by going out sliding glass windows.
- A/C should always be on ‘dry cool’ medium or high (not low or Eco) so that condensation doesn't develop on windows and walls.
- Turn off A/C, lights and coffee pot whenever you leave the house but please leave fans on for air circulation.
(There is no reason to leave A/C running when no one is home. Be kind, save energy (and us from a huge electric bill).
Be sure to TURN OFF outside lights and pool lights before you go to bed.
Sand gets into everything and hurts our pipes and septic system.
Please use the outdoor shower by the deck to wash off sunscreen, sun tanning lotion and sand before getting into pool or entering our home.
(Our pool, furniture, bedding, towels, mattresses, shower pipes, septic system and housekeeper thank you!)
Please do not bring glass into the pool area (plastic cups are in kitchen for pool-side use).
CAUTION:
DO NOT walk or stand in pool infinity trough.
DO NOT move rock drain cover in infinity trough (it's there to keep twigs and leaves from clogging pump and filter).
DO NOT climb pool maintenance ladder.
No smoking or vaping of any kind allowed anywhere on our property - do that outside the gates of our parking area (and please pick up any dropped cigarette butts and properly dispose of them).
Help keep insects away: don't leave food or dirty dishes outside or piled in sink, cleans counters and tables and sweep crumbs from kitchen floor after eating.
Please don’t let trash pile up within our home. Bag the trash and and place it inside (not next to) the bin located next to the parking area.
(Food waste, fish waste and leftovers can be bagged and put in the freezer for the housekeeper to collect when she comes to clean so that they don’t start to smell).
We want you to have a comfortable stay, so please let us know right away if you need anything or if something in the home needs attention and we can pick a time when you're out and about to fix/replace it so we won't disturb you.
(Please be don’t wait until after you’ve checked out or to tell us in a review, it's terribly frustrating and a bit unkind.)
We understand that accidents can happen, so let us know if anything gets broken or damaged during your stay so that we can replace it / repair it before the next visitors arrive.
Feel free to:
Explore, relax, play music, laugh, cry, sing, dance, swim, skinny-dip (:D), talk to Stumpy, play games, have fun, make memories, ENJOY.
Thank you so much for your kindness and care - we appreciate you!
