Was overall a nice place and very accommodating with the exception of a griddle or cooktop didn’t realize there was not a stove so maybe a pizza oven? This was not a huge problem at all just a suggestion, we enjoyed our stay and it was close to everything we wanted to do!!! Thank you
Cabin was cozy and clean, well equipped. Close to attractions: Giant City State Park and Lodge, Little Grand Canyon, Makanda strip of little shops, Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, late Senator Paul Simon’s final resting place.
Garden of the Gods has been on my bucket list for years. I found this cabin and it was perfect. The pictures don’t do it justice. Our Manager (Steven) was great from start to finish. We will be back and have already recommended to family and friends
I have nothing but gushing reviews for my Makanda Cabin stay. The cabin was easy to navigate to. When I opened the door I found a clean, comfortable, well appointed place, with two good size bedrooms, living room with fireplace, a bathroom stocked with plenty of towels and soap. There was a basket full of treats on the kitchen table. Hangers were in the closets, luggage rack and lots of shelves to organise wedding and hiking clothing. I could truly relax there. My son was able to help out with wedding preparations for his friend in nearby Carbondale, I was free to explore the hiking trails, (Giants City, Garden of the Gods, Panoma Natural Bridge, etc) and attend an outdoor music festival at Grassy Lake. We did not use the cabin's kitchen to meal prep, as I found some lovely places to eat in Cobden, Carbondale... - and of course the Giant City Lodge... ( I even bought an apple pie from a near by orchard for the wedding party.) This location was very quiet at night. I felt quite safe jogging around the near by homes / golf course in the early morning. I would love to stay there again and would recommend this cozy spot to wine tasters, trail hikers and the like.
Close to everything we needed, winery’s, hiking, Giant City our SIU student. Yet far enough away in a quiet quant cabin south of Carbondale. We will be back.
Property was accessible. The shower was great. The cabin was in a great location, close to lots of different activities. The furniture was easy to move to meet our needs. Steve was super responsive when we had an issue, and he fixed it right away!
We came down to visit friends and the cabins were great to come back to each night . The cabins are close to town but far enough away . I enjoyed a peaceful sit on the deck and a nice walk . The management responds quickly to any question and it was really easy to check in and out. I will say if you are shorter person like myself bring a stool the bed is kinda high.
The cabin is in a convenient location near town and parks. The first night we had an issue with hot water. We contacted the owner and he quickly resolved the issue. We would recommend this place to our family and frends.
Everything about this place was perfect. The new white living room furniture kind of took me out of the cabin feel but comfy nonetheless. The brand new mattress in the big bedroom was a dream. The mattress on the futon it's too stiff to sleep on. The smaller bedrooms mattress was decent. All the supplies in the kitchen was great to have. We had already started planning next year's trip and staying at these cabins before we even left. Highly recommend.
It was good for the price. Nice size. I didn't like that our cottage was made to accommodate someone in a wheelchair. No one in my party was in a wheelchair. The bathroom sink had no place to put your items because it was all made to accommodate a wheelchair. No bathtub because it was a handicap shower. Also, there was no stove. The owner should provide some kind of portable plug in electric or infrared stove top, some pots and pans, so people can cook. Otherwise, everything was good.
I am a picky person when it comes to where I lay my head at night. This was an amazing property and we will continue to stay at these cabins each time we come to Illinois to visit our daughter and grandchildren,
I rented this cabin for a short Saturday to Monday stay while waiting to pick up my kids from a nearby summer camp. Cabin was comfortable but spacious, with a great little deck off to the side. All the amenities you could need for a weekend and close to Carbondale and limitless outdoor options.
