About this property

3-Bedroom, 3-Level Cabin-Spectacular Mountain and Lake Views!

Our mountain cabin is the perfect getaway for couples and families. Lovingly cared for and tastefully decorated, our 3-level, 1400 sq. foot cabin has an open floor plan with floor-to-ceiling windows on the main floor and spectacular views of Colorado's highest peaks and beautiful Twin Lakes (the largest glacial lakes in the State). Views are as good from INSIDE the cabin as they are OUTSIDE the cabin!

The main floor has all hardwood floors with an open, fully furnished kitchen and new appliances; large dining table for cozy family meals with a view; living area with a comfy couch, TV, gas stove, and two leather recliners; French doors opening out to the deck; a newly remodeled, spacious bath with tub, shower, and plenty of storage; and a mud room for storing skis, backpacks, and outdoor equipment.

The lower level has stone tile floors with two large bedrooms--one with a queen bed and one with a full bed; a quiet sitting area with TV, French doors opening out to an outdoor patio, and a half-bath/laundry room with washer and dryer. The upper level has hardwood floors, a master bedroom with a queen bed that has views of Mount Elbert (from bed!)and a separate sitting area. The sitting area can be closed off and has a futon for extra sleeping space.

Our cabin is on a half-acre lot with trees, a small fenced yard off of the downstairs patio (perfect for small to medium dogs, with prior approval). Aspen is a scenic 43-mile drive over 12,095-foot Independence Pass, Colorado’s highest paved pass, where you'll find fabulous summer activities, like the Aspen Summer Music Festival and great bars and restaurants. Historic Leadville is 19 miles away with affordable dining, shops, and museums. The tiny town of Twin Lakes, 2 miles west, has a restaurant and cafe. Fabulous hiking, mountain climbing, mountain biking, and cross country skiing are available in all directions. Boating activities on Twin Lakes and fly-fishing on the Arkansas River are only minutes away. Lively Buena Vista with restaurants and brew pubs is only 23 miles away.

Excellent!!
We loved our stay!! The cabin location is ideal to access all that is hiking and the feel of mountain living yet just 20 minutes outside of Leadville. The cabin was very clean and well-stocked with all special necessities (cleaning supplies, aluminum foil, plastic bags, paper towels, soap, shampoo, lotion, etc.) The linens and beds were better than my own house. Having a plate of chocolate chip cookies waiting for us in the refrigerator was a very classy touch. Without hesitation we would return to the cabin.

Fall weekend getaway
My husband and I stayed with our 9 months old and dog. We enjoyed a cozy weekend at the cabin. Great views of the surrounding mountains and a bit of the lake. The kitchen was very well stocked with basic essentials, we were saved by the large spice collections as we forgot to pack a few we needed. Great little yard for the dog. Stairs are open to the floor so we had to keep a close eye on our son as he crawled around, but it was a great place to spend some time together for a weekend getaway!

4th time to stay
I guess you could say we are "regulars" since this was our 4th summer to stay in the Treehouse Cabin. We love it here and the cabin and the area is just as wonderful now as before. This time we brought our recently adopted Husky, Isabella. She loved hanging around on the deck. Of course she also loved the cooler weather and turned out to be quite the "mountain dog", loving the local trails, and especially enjoying a dip in the cool water of Mt Elbert Forebay. We're looking forward to another stay next summer.

Wonderful Visit
Our stay was beyond our expectations. The home was clean and welcoming. We were greeted with delicious cookies and wine. We had everything we needed for cooking and hygiene. In the mornings we were able to sit on the porch and view the beautiful mountain and lake views. At night we were able to watch the stars. Our family met for a reunion in twin lakes and the home was located in the center of all of the families rented and owned homes in the area. Thank you so much John and Cindi for allowing us to stay in your home. We will definitely book again on our next trip to visit Coach!

Comfy cabin!
An excellent place for a long holiday weekend away! Just two of us but would have accommodated more comfortably. The neighborhood is quiet but close enough to town and activities. Kitchen is extremely well equipped! Bed was comfortable. We spent a lot of time just sitting in the adirondack chairs looking at the view! Loved the covered deck. And our pup loved it too! He also spent a lot of time on the deck watching the ground squirrels. And it was very convenient to be able to let him in the fenced yard. We'll be looking for a time to return next summer!

This was our second stay at the Tree House! We love the quiet and dark neighborhood, along with the seclusion. Love the views of the mountains, but some trees may need trimming as they're beginning to obstruct the views. We'll definitely be back again!

Yet another great stay.
This is our third summer to stay here and we've already reserved again for next summer. This cabin will not disappoint. It is great inside and is in a beautiful location. Wake up every day to views of the Twin Lakes and nearby mountains (including Mt Elbert), from inside the cabin or from the deck. The host, John, is responsive in case you have any questions.

Treehouse Pleasure.
The cabin is lovely, modern, very clean and comfortable. There were only 2 of us but it would have comfortably slept several more. No TV reception but well-supplied with videos and dvd's for all ages. The kitchen was a treat! Everything thing you could need was provided! Fiesta dishware was lovely! Just couldn't find a pizza cutter. The temperature was very warm outside but closing all the blinds and shutters kept the cabin cool during the days. And cool breezes at night were refreshing. Plenty of bedding, blankets, towels, etc. so don't bring any! Also, plenty of paper supplies. We appreciated all the bosex of Puffs because we had some sinus issues with the altitude! The big deck was our favorite spot. Many comfortable lounge chairs, a gas grill, and the most spectacular views of the mountains and the lower lake that you can imagine! Very quiet, peaceful. Neighbors all around but never heard or saw them! The General Store in Twin Lakes provides a few grocery essentials plus alcohol. If you need more than that, you will need to drive to Leadville or Buena Vista. The area, the Upper Arkansas River and the mountains were so beautiful and uncrowded the first 2 weeks of September. We were greatly pleased with our stay at the Treehouse! Thank you, John and Cindi!

Another great experience
This was our second stay at this cabin and hopefully won't be the last. We've already booked the cabin for next summer. As usual, everything was great. The accommodations were comfortable, cabin was well provisioned, cabin was clean, and the views were amazing. The cabin is about 5 miles from the South Elbert trailhead. It's about 23 miles to the Independence Pass area. We drove to Leadville, about 20 miles, for groceries. In August, the weather ranged from about 36 to 46 at night. The day temperatures usually reached highs of 65 to 78. A cabin is being constructed to the south in the direction of the lake. I did not find the noise objectionable. It appears the new cabin will not obstruct the view of the Twin Lake to the south of this cabin. Take note of the wild flowers and trees on the cabin sight. If I identified them correctly, I saw the wildflowers Showy Fleabane and Golden Aster. I believe the pine trees on the property are Ponderosa Pines. There are also some Aspens. We're already looking forward to our trip next year.

We are empty-nesters with two grown children. We have finally realized our dream of owning the perfect cabin nestled in Colorado's most beautiful high-country. Our dog, Sienna, is our constant hiking and cross-country skiing companion. We love the Twin Lakes area year round - spectacular above-timberline hiking in the summer and champagne powder for skiing in the winter! Lake County has more cross-country ski trails than any other county in Colorado, and perfect conditions all winter! We can't stay inside, because there is too much to do outdoors!

Why they chose this property

We have stayed in vacation rentals all over Colorado and picked Twin Lakes because of its spectacular views and the availability of every type of winter and summer sport. We take advantage of music, art, and fine dining in Vail and Aspen and enjoy the historic charm of Leadville. Our cabin is a two-hour drive from Denver, which allows us to use our cabin frequently on weekends. The cabin feels cozy for just the two of us, but has ample space for our family gatherings. We aren't in a city--we are in the MOUNTAINS, and our cabin feels like a real getaway, far from the crowds, traffic, and chain stores/restaurants that have recently infiltrated other mountain communities.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the best hiking and cross-country skiing Colorado has to offer! We are 45 minutes from Copper Mountain, where we enjoy down-hill skiing in the winter without any traffic. We visit Mount Princeton Hot Springs with its outdoor pools and spa services year-round. We visit Aspen for high-end shopping, fabulous music, gourmet restaurants, and people-watching.
