Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous island getaway
My three generation family of five, including two children under 5 stayed at the Galloway beach house for three weeks in February. I can't think of a thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable. The house is well represented by the pictures on the listing and the map. The house offers the ultimate privacy, but is less than 15 minutes from the Clarence Town marina and a couple of restaurants.
The house is well laid out on one floor with spacious bedrooms, living area and kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of beach towels. The huge shaded patio served as a second living room, with chairs and table - perfect for playing, eating outside, and managing wet clothes and sandy feet.
The beachfront cabana provided much welcome shade and a place for chairs and small table off of the sand, so we spent long stretches of time out at the beach. The water is glorious, breathtaking, clear Caribbean blue and I couldn't get enough of it. The water was usually calm enough for the children and we brought inflatable floats from home which provided hours of relaxing water time. We ended most days with happy hour and sunsets at the cabana.
The beach in front of the house is a stretch of fine white sand dotted with rocks. The shoreline beyond the house offers alternating sections of sand and rocky ledges adding great interest to this location. We walked often in both directions along the shore many times. It was blast to use our floats to let the tide carry us out to the sea at the nearby inlet. Another don't miss spot is the larger cut a bit further south - sand bars at low tide, and a way to the inland channels that lead all the way back to the house by kayak. Be sure to explore if you are lucky enough to stay here.
We topped off our fun by renting kayaks from Unique Wheels, very close to the house. We were able to explore much further from the house - to rocky shores and a shipwreck to the north, and the cut to the south.
I came to love the last mile of unpaved road to get to the house, no internet, and hanging my clothes outside to dry. A stay here will give you a true relaxing experience in a gorgeous natural setting. Patty was a delight to communicate with in every way. I highly recommend this house. Five Stars.
