The charming village of Quechee
Quechee makes up one of 5 villages in the town of Hartford, and lies on the banks of the Ottauquechee River, surrounded by several lakes. It's perhaps best known for its picturesque bridge and the old Quechee Mill which now houses the Simon Pearce glassblowing center. The area is not short on natural wonders. The nearby mountains provide amble multi-use trails which are ideal for hiking, mountain biking and equestrian activities, while the Quechee Gorge which cuts through it is simply awe-inspiring. Just remember to bring your camera, because there's a lot you'll want to capture in Quechee.

Planning is half the fun
With so many things to do near Quechee vacation rentals, planning your trip is half the fun. There's no better way to view Vermont's spectacular landscape than from high up above. Throughout the seasons you can take a thrilling hot air balloon which peacefully glides over the varied landscape. Alternatively, watch the many that take off during the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. The river invites visitors to glide downstream on kayaks and canoes, while the winter wonderland offers snowy activities like skiing and snowshoeing.
Visit all throughout the year
While there is no bad time to visit Quechee, the right season for you will very much depend on your interests. The days in late spring and summer can be warm and long with clear skies, perfect for hiking or biking. If you don't mind the cooler weather, a visit to Vermont in fall can reveal the famous New England foliage which bursts into bright colors. The dark nights and flurries of snow creep in around November, but this offers a whole host of wintery activities and you can always hole up in one of the cozy restaurants or museums to stay warm.
Golden eagles and busy beavers
Nature lovers will relish a visit to Quechee State Park. While the park is relatively small compared to most national state parks, it teems with species. A hike through it often reveals white-tailed deer, busy beavers, crooking American toads and yellow-spotted salamanders. While we don't recommend getting up close, you may very well spot an ambling black bear or the odd elusive mountain lion. Bring you binoculars, because above you can often see circling golden eagles and red-tailed hawks. It's easily reached from your Quechee vacation rental.
