West Mountain Lodge

We are Stuart and Kristen West. When we say we know what we like and we’re not afraid to take risks to get it, we aren’t kidding. Three months after meeting, we were engaged. And five months after that, we were married. We knew what we wanted, and we didn’t waste any time on starting our adventure. Almost two years later we had our first daughter Elah. A couple years after that she became a big sister, welcoming our second daughter Sailor.
Pensacola FL is where we call home, however we love to travel and explore the world. We are always looking for our next adventure. In the summer of 2022, we bought a 30 ft sailboat and sailed our family across the Gulf from Pensacola to Key West for five weeks. . Stuart is also a pastor and Kristen a designer. When we sold one of our rental properties back in Pensacola, we discussed what and where to reinvest. Western North Carolina has always been a favorite area for us. Stuart went to Montreat College just outside of Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains hold a significant place in his life. We found this cabin online but had never been to Lake Toxaway. Risk and adventure? We’re in! We were under contract sight unseen. We fell in love with the Lake Toxaway area the first time we drove up. And the cabin had so much potential! We quickly got to work renovating the cabin to make it more modern and adding our individual touches. Recently we purchased the adjacent thirty acres with creeks, trails, little waterfalls, and room to expand. Our dream for this property is to have a place for our girls to make memories that they will someday share with their families. We love the panoramic mountain views at sunrise and sunset, telling stories around the bonfire, hiking the forest, and cozying up by the franklin stove at the end of a great day.
