About this property
THE WINTER HOUSE - HISTORIC DOWNTOWN LANCASTER
Built in 1880 and central to the historic district, The 'Winter House' is named in honor of Lancaster’s own Band of Brother’s leader and hometown hero, Major Dick Winters. The Winter House is perfectly situated, just a few minutes walk to Lancaster’s city center, and is equipped with modern amenities which include a Smart TV, high speed internet, and central AC. Inside, you’ll find tasteful touches, quality linens and a comfortable bed to ensure a restful night’s sleep.
The Winter House was recently restored with tasteful touches throughout. The space hints to a past when things were simpler while highlighting the creature comforts one demands of today's modern spaces. Tasteful accent lighting, hardwood floors, and high quality linens ensure a good night's rest, while the smart tv and high speed internet provide travelers the peace of mind of staying connected. The studio is filled with morning light throughout and offers enough space for four guests to enjoy comfortably. You can rest assured knowing the space is professionally cleaned and cared for, and our team is readily available to ensure your experience in staying with us is the absolute very best.
The studio entrance is easily accessed from N. Shippen St. (See check-in link). Enter through the dark wood front door. Once inside, the entry door to the studio is to the left . All areas of the home are secure and have outdoor security cameras.
Our team is available through the Airbnb app or phone, and we have a local service team should you need assistance during your stay.
The Musser Park neighborhood is on Lancaster's East side, and is a short walk to parks, area restaurants and downtown entertainment. The park, commissioned in 1949, was named after Lancaster’s umbrella handle tycoon Henry Musser. The park is a local favorite that includes plenty of open space, a children’s play area and the Lancaster Museum of Art. The location is highly walkable to Lancaster’s central market, the convention center, and most downtown area shops and restaurants.
The Winter House has a walk-score of 98, so for those who love walking - Lancaster is a foot warriors dream! In addition, Lancaster has a network of bike paths with mindful motorists and clearly marked bike lanes throughout the city. The city is inter-connected by rivers, parks, and side alleyways that are sure to leave a lasting impression. For those looking to travel by car, you’ll appreciate the lack of traffic often found in larger metropolitan cities. If you take a car, be mindful of our local horse carriages and buggies often found traveling throughout our community and back-country roads.
The Winter House is dog friendly! Up to two medium sized dogs (65 lbs each) are permitted in the home at a rate of $75 per stay, per pet. Unattended pets left in the home must be kenneled. Rental agreements greater than 30 days require an additional refundable security deposit of $250 per pet and additional pet rent of $50 per pet, per month will be charged separately. No other animals to include cats, birds, or reptiles are permitted at The Winter House.
The home is 420/smoker friendly, but in outside areas only, at least ten feet away from windows and doors.
