About this property

Grandpa's lake house lake private access mountain view museum 1950's experience

Do you remember the stories about the simple & beautiful times from our grandpas? Sleeping with a mosquito net, cooking in a bonfire, using the latrine, & taking a shower outside? Playing & enjoying the simplicity of the life!

This is your opportunity to travel to the past without being in the past. Enjoy this magnificent museum piece! All the pieces are original & give you an idea of our grandparents lives. Sleep, enjoying the sound of the coquis & natural life. Welcome to the 1950s.

One of the favorites for everyone! Featured in short films, movies, and Bad Bunny's music video "Pitorro de Coco".

The space
The grandpa's house is a hidden gem inside the mountains of the municipality of Cidra. Excellent space to disconnect you from the busy life of the city and get in contact with nature. You can walk, hike, make a bonfire, or just sit at the lakeshore to recharge your batteries. Enjoy the breathtaking sunrise and the sound of the coqui during the sunset. Enjoy the stars and the night sky away from the city.

Live the experience of the past and remember our grandparents. In the grandpa's house, you will live like them.

In an adjacent structure you will have access to a traditional bathroom with a shower, small refrigerator, and microwave. You will have the basic commodities but live like Grandpa.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire property. The grandpa's house and the mason house (where the traditional bathroom with shower, refrigerator, and microwave are located).

This is a rural and country property, surrounded by nature and creeks, with direct access to Cidra Lake. Drive carefully, but all vehicles can get access without problems. Vehicles like a Toyota Camry, SUV, or 4x4.

Other things to note:
Use only Google Maps to drive to the property; you can get lost if you use other apps like Apple Maps.
Remember this is a rural area with just a few traffic lights; we highly recommend arriving early the 1st time to get familiarized with the area.

You will be in direct contact and access with the nature, flora, and fauna. If you do not like bugs or forest animals, this experience is not the right one for you.

Cool spot!

Really interesting and fun, the little shack to cook and shower in doesn’t have any paper towels or napkins or hand towels so I’d bring a roll to help clean up etc. also would be nice to have a little more light in the museo since it gets dark so early! Overall great communication and a gorgeous area and property.

Super enjoyable

The property is gorgeous amidst the beautiful mountains of Cidra. A true communion with nature. Topped by an excellent and accomodating host eager to impart her vast knowledge of culture and history of the region and making us feel most welcome! Thanks so much Laura!

Great place

This place was amazing! Like the listing says, it's definitely not a place for people who aren't okay with the great outdoors, but if quiet, rustic cabins in the jungle are your thing then this place is perfect. Absolutely loved our night here, it was so quiet and peaceful with incredible views in every direction. Laura (our on site contact) was so kind and helpful and even brought us a plate of delicious food for the evening. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some time away from the city and I would absolutely stay here again.

If you like being outdoors, this is your place! I only wish the kitchen was a little more functional. It’s perfect to stay for one night or two but wouldn’t recommend staying longer than that. However, they were super accommodating! Laura was really sweet and definitely a highlight of our trip.
