Welcome to Ray's Place at Norris Lake, the Marth’s home on Big Creek in Norris Lake. A great family getaway.

THE HOUSE:

A beautifully constructed home completed for rent starting in the Summer of 2011. The house is approximately 3000 square feet, with two large decks overlooking majestic views of Norris lake. With sunset views of open water and the Cumberland Mountains in the distance, you will create memories for a lifetime. The house is an open floor plan, built as a lake house with big windows and doors opening to the water and the sunsets.

Five bedrooms, with two master bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, an additional queen size bedroom, and two bunk room creates an inviting format for two or three families. Each bunk room has two double beds. Amenities include gas grill, washer/dryer, an industrial ice maker to load your coolers each day, and one of the best fire pit's on the Lake.

LOCATION:

If you like still open water, beautiful trees, and gorgeous views, this house is for you. We have a two slip covered dock with a large swim platform ( 12 x 32 feet). With half of it covered, so it is great if you love the sun or need a little shade. One slip will always be available for renters, with room to tie up an additional two boats if needed, or slips are available at nearby Sequoia and Whitman Hollow Marinas.

Our home is in the Big Creek area, positioned directly on the opposite side of the lake from Windsor Point. It is a nicely treed lot on a quiet street, ready for a rustic retreat, or the privacy for you to bring your party to Norris lake. We are a short 17 min drive off I-75, much closer to 75 than the congestion of Deerfield and far less water traffic.

ARRANGEMENTS:

See the calendar for rates. A VRBO security damage insurance fee of $59 is due upon reservation. Taxes and a cleaning fee ($300) are additional. If you have any questions or have an interest in rental, please call. The minimum age to rent is 25 years of age.

Thanksgiving getaway

This was one the best homes we have stayed at and the owner could not have been nicer or more helpful! Very lovely home and property with every necessity available. We had a family group ranging in age from 4 to 74 and everyone had a great experience! Tom is an excellent host and very communicative and responsive. Truly a wonderful experience!

Family Vacation

My sister's family and mine, 15 in all stayed at this lovely, family-oriented home for 4 nights at the end of June 2024. There was plenty of space inside & outside for all of us. The owners are gracious hosts and provide you with all the necessities (local information re: marinas, restaurants, shopping, etc. along with a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, refrigerator space and with a large group of us showering we never ran out of hot water). We cooked 3 meals a day each day we were there and had plenty of dishes, pots & pans, utensils, etc. It was perfect! A majority of our time was spent on the dock and in the water. We rented a boat from Whitman Hollow Marina which was fairly close to the property about 15-20 minutes. The way down to the property's dock was steep but doable. I was the oldest (age 55) of the group, the most out of shape and managed it. Everyone had a wonderful time! This home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. All the furnishings and especially the beds were great and very comfortable. We loved our time there and hope to go back again.

Fall/ winter stay

Lovely home and friendly host. Lake and view are pretty. Imagine the summer lake life fun is awesome at this location but this locations does have a lot of steep slopes. It is all manageable & come with the location but if you leave the location some car sickness was common. If there was any winter weather there would be no leaving. Warning over. We gathered as a family for Thanksgiving and had a blast. Kitchen had everything we needed along with a kids table and extra cleaning supplies. We mainly stayed at the house since local outings were lacking. Overall host is great house has what you need and pretty views. Since we visited in the Fall we did a lot of outside camp fires as the inside fireplace was not an option during our visit, we didn’t touch the water/ boats so I’m sure much more fun to be had.

Beautiful sunsets

The pictures don’t do the property justice. It is prettier in person. The kitchen is very well stocked. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The patio table is perfect for everyone to eat together with a gorgeous view to go with it. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic!

We had the best week at Tom's place. Back hill is steep but very manageable for all ages (4-62) in our party. Comfortable sleeping arrangements and we loved the upper and lower decks. If we weren't on the water we spent all of our time here! Dock is very nice as well! The pictures do this place no justice. All rooms (bedrooms and living space) are very spacious! Tom is a fantastic host and responds very quickly! Hopefully we'll be staying here again!

Great home on Norris

The home is as advertised. Beautiful, well kept, great location on the lake. We had 4 generations of family stay here during vacation and it was well suited for everyone (ages 3 to 82). And the dock is great for swimming if you have kids. Walk to the lake from the house is steep but manageable. Tom was easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend this property to others.

Amazing

We had a group of 9 ladies. Amazing time! Rented a bot at Whitmans marina, very close by boat. Had a great time just swimming at the dock from the house. Easy check in/out, great communication from owners. Enjoyed every piece of the property porches, fire pit, docks, even the beds were comfy!

Great Vacation

House was fantastic and provided a great retreat for the family. Driveway from the road and walkway to the lake are very steep, but common for the area. A handrail along the walkway to the lake could be helpful.

Perfect Norris Vacation Spot

We go to Norris at least once a year and have for many years as a family. In general, all of the houses / condos that we've rented through VRBO have been great, but this one exceeded our expectations. The layout was great for our family which included adults, toddlers, and infants. The location from the highway was a definite plus. The location to the marina (for renting a pontoon boat) was convenient. Tom was so great to work with throughout the entire process. We hope to stay here again and again in the future. Definitely a five star experience.

Phenomenal Home with Spectacular Views

What a trip! The house and property were fantastic. Very clean and comfortable. The ease of check in was great and the accessibility to near by amenities was unreal. Hanging out on the dock all day then relaxing around the fire pit at night was the highlight of our trip! What a beautiful set up and I look forward to staying here again if the opportunity arises!

Great Time at Ray's Place on Lake Norris

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving family gathering at Ray's Place. The home is beautiful, very well equipped, and comfortable. It easily accommodated the 15 members of our family that came together from Kentucky, North Carolina, and Alabama to celebrate the holiday. The home has spectacular views of the lake and nearby mountains. The kids especially enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, where fire wood had been thoughtfully provided. They also had fun playing on the rocky shoreline. As the owner warned, the driveway is very steep. And, as others have observed. the walkway to the fire pit and then down to the shoreline is also very steep. The one addition we would have appreciated is a TV on the lower level.

Quit Looking!

Many thanks to Tom for letting us book his property on short notice. You want HIGH END? This house has it all: furniture, furnishings, bedding, wifi, grill, decking, deck furniture, walkway to the lake, FIREPIT, dock, etc. Our kids spent most the time at the dock, swimming in the lake and playing on the floating mat (even in the first week of October). At night, we took full advantage of the new Weber Genesis grill and best firepit on the lake. If you are lucky enough to find an open date, I recommend that you take advantage and book immediately.

Wonderful Lake Home

We had a great stay with my family. Tom was great and was very communicative. The house was fabulous and the view was magnificent. The path leading down to the lake is indeed steep as other guests have mentioned and I was concerned for my mom who has some challenges walking as of late, but it turned out to be fine. Tom was very accomodating and I would recommend it to anyone. The lake is beautiful and the dock is amazing for swimming and just having water fun.

Great Stay at Ray’s Place

The house was perfect for our group of 10. Plenty of comfy beds, plenty of room in the kitchen, and a great covered deck with a view of the lake. We enjoyed the spacious fire pit, and the kids loved jumping off the high platform at the dock. Overall it was a great property.

Birthday Season

Our Family of eight had the best weekend celebrating birthdays and wrapping up our summer at Ray’s Place. Clean, homey getaway on a beautiful lake! We brought our jet skis & kayaks and hung out in the lake & on the dock for 3 days! The kitchen & outdoor seating areas were great for meals. Plenty of space for our group while also places to get away & read or nap.. Beds & linens were clean & comfy! Definitely one of our favorite family get togethers!

Big Creek Hillside Lakehouse

Very nice and beautiful house. Five bedrooms and another sleeping area. They had 2 refrigerators and a drink cooler plus a dorm room sized refrigerator on the lower level. Beds were pretty comfortable. Very Clean. Covered dock (1 slip) is very nice with electric and swim platform (not always easy to find). They had the best swim ladder we have ever had at Norris Lake. On main part of lake with clean , deep water. It is not in cove so you do get some big waves at times. Parking for boat and trailor are very difficult due to steep drive. I would suggest leaving trailor at Whitman Marina and put in there. The path to dock is very steep and can be slick when rains. It is better than a lot of places at Norris but a simple rope and post or handrail would help a lot. It was too much for my 6 month pregnant daughter and spouse with bad knees so we just drove to Whitman and had the boat come pick us up and drop us off at dock there when they wanted to go out. The property manager was great to work with.

Amazing View and a Wonderful Property

Our family had a great time at Ray’s Place. The house was beautiful and very clean. The kitchen was large and made cooking for our family a breeze. Everything was very nice about the place. We loved the availability and ease of being able to get onto the outdoor decks for almost every room. We also enjoyed the dock and diving platform. It was nice to have a place to dock our jet skis and and hang out our life jackets.

My wife Kristi and I and our family have fallen in love with Norris lake. We are excited to share our home with you. The focus is family, friends, and good times shared. We live in Cincinnati with our four children and will continue to spend many great times at Norris lake in our home. We hope you enjoy it too.

Why they chose this property

We chose this lot and house for a few reasons. We loved the amazing views of sunsets and open water not available in cove locations. We love the reduced congestion of Big Creek area versus the overcrowded, congression of the Deerfield area. We created a welcoming home, with one big great room open to the kitchen, huge decks overlooking great views of the lake, and a short walk (NO Steps) sidewalk to the water.
