We had a very nice stay at "The Perfect Hideaway". House is clean, furnishings new and in great condition, beds are comfortable. Owner was very quick with communication and checked on us once (phone call) during our stay. Charcoal grill is a Weber and in good condition. House is in quiet neighborhood and a very short drive to the dunes and activities of Silver Lake. Very convenient location. Would stay again!
Beautiful house with everything you need to spend a good vacation on Lake Michigan. Incredible communication with the host answered my questions quickly and was attentive so that we all had a pleasant stay
Very nice house with privacy and lots of parking space. It has a very large deck with a table and umbrella for eating outside. There is a nice fire ring area and a lot of room for outside activities. The house is perfect for a family of 7 or 8.
House was great for our family. Our family has been coming to the dunes for 30+ years, but this was our first time staying in Upper Silver Lake and we really liked the area. It was quiet, nice neighborhood and close to the dunes access. We knew before staying there was an issue with the oven, but a new was on order and it was replaced during our stay. We had a few other minor things, but communication was outstanding with the owner and she was very generous to us!!! The kitchen was fairly stocked, with dishes and things needed, but we could not find a toaster . This was not an issue for us and we just used the stove top when it was replaced. The house was very clean, extra blankets are provided and plenty of bathroom towels. There is a camper on the “south” side of the lot. There is a storage building that separates the properties. We did not know it was a separate rental with the same owner. We were a little surprised the one evening when people showed while we were sitting around the camp fire. The kids were all riding bikes up and down the grass. I did ask the owner about the camper the next day and she explained it was a an additional rental. This would be great for additional family/friends wanting to stay on the same property. We typically travel with a much larger group (24 people) , but this year it was just our immediate family. I would book this property again for our family.
We stayed in this house over the holiday weekend. The house is fine but the way the owner handled a situation we had was less than fine hence the lower star review.
FYI the coffee maker is a Keurig so if you use regular coffee and not pods, be aware of that.
The kitchen was not equipped with any sort of fry pan or skillet and the oven was broken. Owner is working on getting that fixed so it was unfortunate to happen during our stay.
One garbage bag is provided so be prepared to bring more if a longer stay.
The TV did not work, even replaced batteries in both remotes and tried again.
The communication with the owner was fine at first and she was very responsive the whole time, even when we had an issue with the oven. However, when addressing our issue of not being able to cook our food she was quite rude and said "why can't you just go out its cheap up there and what food do you need to bake". It just wasn't at all professional for the guest to be inconvenienced and then to be told to just go out to eat. We spent quite a bit more on breakfast and dinner due to this. I don't have a problem with the house - would probably stay there again if a different owner. My only issue is with how our situation was handled and wish no ill will to this owner - just informing future guests that this was in no way handled in a gracious manner and was of no fault of ours. Hopefully once issues are fixed it will be smooth sailing!
