Kay has thought of everything at this cute and cozy cottage just outside Holly Hill, SC. Luxury linens and towels. Well stocked kitchen and little amenities like bottled water, snacks and toiletries. This is one of the nicest rentals we have ever stayed at.
Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Easy access from I-95.Less than an hours drive to Old Town Charleston. We loved it.We plan on staying here next year on our way through.
This was the second time we stayed at Kay's cottage. We stayed on our way to Florida and then again on our way home. It was the perfect place and much better than any motel. It was as pictured and very clean. The beds were comfy and the whole place felt like home. Super easy check in and out. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Kay for your hospitality!!
This was an exceptional property. The location was convenient. The unit was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We were traveling with our dog and found he was very welcome here with bowls and a toy basket. It was nice to sit in the fenced yard and read while he ran around. We will definitely stay here again.
We loved this place and it was exactly what we needed. We stopped here to rest overnight in the middle of a long trip. We didn't have pets but noted the owner provided dog water and food bowls and even toys for dogs. I'm impressed. The place was cozy, quiet and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.
We stayed in this adorable home for one night on our way to Florida. Everything was as pictured on vrbo. Kay was a wonderful host who made sure we had everything we needed. She left lots of little extras and the home is so comfy. This stop was so much better than staying in a motel. So happy we have rented it again for our return trip home. Thank you Kay!!!!!
Charming, clean, comfortable and cozy! Ideal place to overnight on a long road trip. Kay is a lovely host -- she made us all feel very welcome, including our canine family member. So nice to wake up in a serene country setting with a view of horses. We hope to be back on future travels!
This was the perfect place to stay and relax in Holly Hill! My kids loved the fenced in yard, being able to pet and feed the horses and all the kids toys!
Perfect stay with our dog...lovely home, comfortable beds, and fenced in yard. Couldn't ask for more for our overnight stay. Would recommend and hope to return!
I stayed here with my toddler and dogs, and it was a perfect place to rest on our long road trip! The dogs loves the outdoor area, and the house has everything that you could need, and more!
Very comfortable stay with stocked kitchen to prepare breakfast. Most of all appreciate pet friendly with fenced in area for safety. Would have loved sitting on the front porch in the evening but it’s January!
We stayed one night with our little dog Cooper. The accommodations are totally pet friendly and Kay was extremely attentive. The cottage is so cute and completely equipped. We would certainly stay again!
The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay while visiting family or exploring the area. Close to town but surrounded by fields so you feel like you're out in the country.
This was the perfect place to stay for a midway stop from PA to FL. It is SO much better than staying at a boring chain hotel. Kay provided all the comforts of home and then some! Our dogs loved the fenced in yard. Her communication was excellent. We hope to make this our go to place every year!
The cottage was perfect for me, my husband and our two dogs. The cottage was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There were a number of unexpected amenities such as snacks, paper towels and even a toothbrush and toothpaste, if needed. The air conditioning/heat was easy to adjust for all of the rooms. There were extensive tv programs available, as well. The feature that I absolutely loved was the fenced in front yard. With dogs, I am hesitant to walk them in a strange neighborhood at night. The fenced yard was convenient and clean.
We will definitely be returning.

About the host
Hosted by Kay Holseberg
Welcome to the Red Cottage. I am Kay. My husband, Fred, and I moved out to the country about 17 years ago from Charleston. The Cottage was originally brought onto our property to be the home of my pecan business, Molly and Me Pecans, which I started in 2008 and sold in 2022. We baked all the different flavors of pecans, (the smells were amazing!), as well as packaged and shipped right from that tiny little cottage. I have such fond memories of that time! When I sold Molly and Me Pecans we decided to share the cottage with travelers who wanted a peaceful place to rest with their family or fur babies traveling up and down I-95, as well as locals who needed some extra space for family or friends visiting. I hope you will enjoy your stay here!
Why they chose this property
When we decided to move out to the country I wanted an old house with a few acres. When we drove up to this property, it had an old house with a wraparound porch and I immediately felt like I was home. My husband went out the back door and watched three deer cross the hay field, which is now our horse pasture, and he was sold! We have since had the house moved farther back on the property, renovated it and bought surrounding land.
What makes this property unique
You can see all kinds of wild life if you can stay a little while. We have deer, fox, raccoons, and a variety of birds. We also have horses in the pasture next to the Cottage who love attention and treats. You can sit on the porch in the morning with your coffee and watch the horses graze, or sit by the fire pit and look at the stars at night. Relax and stay awhile!
