It was such a nice peaceful place to stay for a few days with our family. Some things need to be updated but it was overall a good experience. There was a lot of things to do in the house and lots of space to spread out.
We thought the house was great. Some items need attention. The entry door did not lock. I was told it mat be that the battery was dead (You would still be able to lock the door from the inside, but that was not the case) Having small children sleeping on the level that the door did not lock was not comforting. And the issue was not resolved during our stay. The pool table had 4 sticks but only one with a tip that was useable (small detail but we could crack all the balls using the other sticks)There was a dart board with no darts (we like to play that too) these other items are small details and niceties. The owner responded to our notice of the door lock, it was not addressed at all during our stay and she was just silent after that. I guess she is still in the learning phase. I am sure the lock is fixed now and a few of the other items. Your stay should be great. It really is a nice home. There were plenty of plates, silverware and cups. Very spacious living room and mainly a fun house for the kids. We did wish there was a tv in the LR (they are everywhere else). Being thanksgiving we like to put the parade on while having charcuterie and cooking, but the cooks never got to see the parade. Overall it was a nice.
The house was a great location near the wedding venue. The size of the house was great. We had the groomsmen stay there and there was 12 of us. Thank goodness I brought some air mattresses as 2 6 ft groomsmen were not going to share a full size bunk bed.
Great house for a big group. Lovely property and lots to do at the house and a few good hiking trails nearby. Host gave good food recommendations and overall would highly recommend!!
Great mountain lodge for having a family vacation. Plenty of room to spread out for fun and meals. Loved the game room and outdoor hot tub. Beautiful countryside.
The cabin itself (# of rooms/bathrooms, size of space, collaboration areas, fire pit, wrap-around deck, hot tub, etc) was perfect for our group (12 people ages 17-75), though it’s important to note that the main level (kitchen, dining, living room, master suite) is on the second floor, so it might be a tough time for older/less mobile guests.
There were issues involving a malfunctioning washer, a shower curtain rigging that broke loose and fell on my daughter mid-shower, a very dirty bathroom/shower on the bottom floor, and a pervasive and extreme infestation of sugar ants.
There were great photos on the listing showing the cabin situated on a nice grassy hill with a dedicated pond with a dock at the bottom. These photos were inaccurate because a major construction project on that hill was on-going, with dust, noise, heavy equipment, and workers present. We expected pleasant access to be able to fish (my dad brought all of his fishing gear with that in mind).
The wifi is spotty and there were two kids needing to do college assignments via laptop and they were unable to keep a signal. What we ended up doing was use hotspots on our AT&T or T-Mobile phones (other providers had zero data signal).
The hostess was pleasant and responsive by text though she was unable to address any of our concerns during our actual stay.
I asked ahead of time to make sure the hot tub was clean, and pre-heated, which was done and communicated to that affect before we arrived.
Whether you need some family time away from your chaotic life, attending a local wedding like we did, this property won’t disappoint. We loved the spacious bedrooms, the relaxing time at the picnic tables on the deck, and walks down the local winding dirt roads. It’s an adventure worth look into!
This house/cabin/palace, palace is what the grandkids said it was. We had plenty of room so we weren’t on top of each other. The kids were able to watch tv upstairs and we were able to keep up with them all. They got to experiment living basically in the woods and we were all able to see deer in the yard as well as raccoons. We had a blast with every one being able to be together.
We were surprised with the wildlife around the area. The deck is amazing. We stayed outside quite a bit. This is where I would go again if ever coming back to Virginia.
