Modern Luxury Villa Close To The Golden Circle

Sogsbakki is a new modern 3 bedroom luxury villa located in Grimsnes, a 45 min. drive from Reykjavik and 30 min. drive to Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir. The villa, which is within a gated area which gives you sense of being totally secure, has a modern design and is very well equipped in every way; it’s surrounded by terraces on all sides, equipped with sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, and outdoor barbecue (gas), garden furniture and a small basketball court. There are three bedrooms, spacious living room, dining for area for 12 people, kitchen, bathroom and washing room. In the area there are number of golf courses, swimming pools, hiking trails, fishing rivers and other exciting things. The nearest restaurant is only 5 min. walk away. Pls. note that in severe weather conditions the outdoor jacuzzi can't be used.

Excellent place to stay and great base to explore from

We had an excellent stay in Iceland. Just around the corner from Selfoss (easy for your grocery shop) and the main attractions from the golden circle are less than an hour’s drive away. The property is very tidy and cosy and Elin is a great host. Definitely a great place to stay

Selfoss house

We had a great stay at Elin's house. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle and Reykjavik. The house was very warm and comfortable, with an extremely well-equipped kitchen which we made good use of. Elin and her husband met us and drove with us to the house which was much appreciated and she was only a phone call away if we had any questions or issues. Highly recommended.

Wonderful house in great location

A very comfortable house set in lovely surroundings - very peaceful and relaxing. We loved the hot tub and sauna! Elin was an excellent host, highly communicative as needed. The house is ideally placed for exploring the Golden Circle as well as easy access to the Blue Lagoon, 2021 eruption site and more. Highly recommend this place for a great blend of touring and relaxing.

Amazing country

The house in Soggsbakki was nice and well equipped. The only negative thing was the bathroom. This was too small for the use by 6 people. Also, there was only 1 toilet. It is in the middle of the Golden Circle, so al the touristic attractions were within driving distance. Also it was very pleasant and welcoming that Elin and her husband met us to guide us to their house, so that we ourselves did not have to search in the dark. Iceland is such a beautiful country, we enjoyed every minute of our Christmas holiday. We were very lucky to have such a beautiful weather, a little bit cold, but the sun was shining. We even saw the aurora borealis. We definitely will come back again!

Great location for golden circle

Great house for visiting SW of country. Well equipped with everything we wanted. Very good to have some food basics too. Outside shower was wonderful, even in the chilly mornings. Overall we would recommend property.

Wonderful location and excellent house

The property is nothing short of excellent, exactly as pictured and described. It is extremely well appointed and maintained with all fixtures and fittings at a very high quality. You can really tell that Elin really takes a pride in her villa. Elin met us at the property and was there even though we arrived just a little early. She took the time to explain everything in the house and how the 'hot-pot' pool, outside shower and the sauna worked. We loved all of these and especially the outside shower which we used every day. :-) Elin took the time to suggest some local highlights and sights we might wish to see together with local restaurants and shops. We were also provided with a local mobile phone that opened the gates but which Elin said we could also use in case we needed to contact her or make local calls. The house is in a good location for visiting the highlight sights in the Golden Circle and the 'hot-pot' and sauna were great to come back to and relax in after a day of sight-seeing. Only one thing that we did not find was an iron for ironing our washed clothes. We would have no hesitation in returning to the house on our next visit to Iceland and highly recommend both house and host (Elin) to anyone looking for a perfect spot to explore the key sights in the South of the island.

Fantastic stay, totally peaceful, great location and gave a perfect taste of Iceland. Close to Geysir and Gulfoss and shops at Selfoss. Blue Lagoon an hour and 1/2 away and Reyk 45 minutes. The house has everything you need and has great glass window so you have wonderful views. Because of Icelands natural hot water the house is very warm and the hot tub is a fabulous place to spend a few hours at the end of the day. Elin is a great host meeting you at the airport and escorting you to her house. Thanks Elin for a lovely time, we hope to see you again.

Beautiful home in great location

We really enjoyed staying at Elin's cozy and modern home. Very welcoming and homey. Sometimes rentals feel like they are just rentals but this house felt like staying in a well cared for home. We had everything we needed, kitchen basics, linens, etc.. Only downside was we wish the Hotpot/Hot tub had been easier to use. We only got to enjoy it once on our 6 night stay but otherwise this place was great. Definitely recommend!

Iceland Day Trips

Property was perfect for day trips for the golden circle, snorkelling, lava cave and volcano hike, Sky Lagoon and glacier lagoon (long day). Came back to relax in the hot tub and sauna.

Fantastic!

This couples property was great! They had all the amenities of home and it was centrally located for adventures in Iceland’s southern region. Could not have been more pleased with their hospitality, flexibility, and kind demeanor! Highly recommend this property for your travels.

Perfection

The location of this property is perfect! It’s close to Selfoss, all the main attractions of the Golden Circle as well as off the beaten path sights. It was so nice coming back to this cozy property after a long day of sightseeing to take in the beautiful surroundings and relax in the hot pot & sauna. The property owners go out of their way…literally, to familiarize you with the house and their country. I highly recommend this property.

Gemütliches kleines Idyll

Das Ferienhaus ist ideal gelegen, um in verschiedene Richtungen Ausflüge zu unternehmen. Der Wohnraum ist modern und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet. Einige Gewürze und Lebensmittel sind bereits vorhanden und können benutzt werden. Es ist jedoch schade, dass der Hot Tub jedesmal drei Stunden braucht um vollzulaufen. Der Kamin war leider nur der Deko.

Excellent Home Away from Home

Elin was very easy to work and communicate with. The house was very well appointed; we cooked a number of meals in the house. If any issues arose, Elin and her family were a call away. I’d highly recommend staying here and hope to do so again.

Outstanding in every way

Absolutely amazing! I first of all never leave reviews and secondly am the most neurotic person and nothing really meets my standards ever, except my own home. I felt completely at home here and the house is exactly as pictured—except it has the most amazing coffee machine that has sparked an addiction for me:) The sauna is beautiful. The house has everything you need and more. Plenty of condiments, towels, toiletries you may have forgotten, American charging plug adapters, etc. We spent a very long time researching where to stay in Iceland. This location is PERFECT! You’re less than an hour to Reykjavik which wasn’t of high interest to us. Being outside the city meant you were typically within 1.5 hours of EVERYTHING else you would want to see from Vik to Mt Esja and the erupting volcano. Elin was terrific to work with and extremely responsive. A+

Great house with perfect location

We had a wonderful stay - the house is very well set up for relaxing, cooking at home, and feeling away from it all, yet is located to make getting to all of the hikes and sites of Southern Iceland very easy. Elin was an amazing host and was very responsive and provided great suggestions. Would highly recommend the house and her hospitality.

Extraordinary

Elin's house is a stylish and luminous home, cosy, warm and very inviting. We all (4 adults and 2 children) felt very comfortable during our wonderful stay in Iceland. The home is located in a very quiet area. It is equipped with every possible thing (and more!), so that it feels as if you were at home. I missed the house enormously once we had left! Absolutely to recommend!

Fantastic holiday home

This modern holiday home was the perfect base for our day tours into the wonderful nature of Iceland's southwest. Only 15 minutes north of Selfoss it offered all amenities we could think of. Besides a very appealing arrangement this included a well equipped open plan kitchen in a spacious living room, three bedrooms, lots of stowage space, a sauna, an outdoor hot tub with shower, laundry facilities as well as a Weber grill. Everything worked properly and was super clean. Elin (property owner) was very hospitable and reachable whenever needed. Even better, after our arrival in Iceland we met Elin's son in Reykjavik who guided us to the house where he gave us a comprehensive briefing. What else could we expect? Really nothing to complain about. We can fully recommend this holiday home!

We put great trust and faith in those who choose to rent our place and we do our utmost to maker their stay as enjoyable as possible.

This beautiful summerhouse is the perfect place to relax and enjoy being away from your everyday life both summer and winter. It's luxurious and beautifully designed. It's located 30-45 min. drive from many of Iceland's most popular places and surrounded with hiking trails and just few minutes walk from a salmon river.

What makes this property unique

The beautiful surroundings and the overall design of this place is irrisisteble and makes you feel welcome, relaxed and secure. During the summer you can enjoy the 24 hr light and the during the winter the Northern lights in the complete darkness. After a long day looking at beautiful sights you can relax in the sauna and make a delicious meal in the very spacious and well equipped kitchen.
