About this property
Gunpowder Cabin - on Octoraro Creek
Gunpowder Cabin is a peaceful getaway set on 9+ wooded acres and a private drive in Northern Maryland, just an hour from Baltimore. With a half mile of hiking trails, and over 600 feet of frontage on Octoraro Creek, there are numerous options for taking in the natural beauty: warming up by our two firepits, lounging in a hammock, taking a dip in the river, or fishing for trout from the shoreline. A secluded retreat that feels remote but is just moments from the civilization you came to escape.
You'll have full access to the 9+ acres of wooded property and easy access to the river. The property does rise up to around 140 feet in elevation, so there are hills and stairs to climbs as you explore. This is not flat ground, and great for a hike. Neighbors are not visible from a large portion of the property, and it feels very secluded.
Features:
-Patio fire pit directly out back
-2nd fire pit near the river
-Easy stone stair access to the river in 2 locations
-1/2 mile of well-kept hiking trails
-Overlook bench on the river
-Hammock riverside
-Wooden bridge
-Wooden boardwalk over natural spring
-multiple staircases created from natural materials to make the property
more accessible
-Around 700 feet of creek frontage right on the property
Our location is tucked behind a suburban subdivision at the front entrance, and borders over 100 acres of historic preserve on the cabin/stream side of the acreage. You have full access to every area of the home and property except the basement storage where the owner keeps his private belongings and equipment. That area is locked, and monitored (inside the locked room) by cameras.
There is an unfinished basement not shown in the listing as it does not have features currently.
We provide:
Exploring equipment, a hammock, fire starters, outdoor chairs, games, books, snacks, extra bedding, 3 TVs, Xbox 360, wi-fi, and kitchen tools are provided for an easy, comfortable stay.
Other things to note:
Property is just 15 minutes from Interstate 95, situated between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
While a rural area, you are 20 minutes from civilization and absolutely anything you might need.
We are in a rural area, and you may sometimes here the sounds from hunters in the distance or nearby properties. It is a rare occurrence, but can happen at any time. No hunting is allowed on our property, and no trespassing signs are posted throughout.

I grew up in the Baltimore area, an I live just North of it now. I was lucky enough to find a vacation home for my family, and now I get to share it with others. maintaining the trails and property is a real pleasure for me, and makes relaxing by the firepit even more enjoyable. I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing the great experiences my guests have had at the cabin
