Westport island is conveniently located on Maine’s mid-coast and accessible by bridge. A quiet non-touristy island that is a perfect get away from the congestion of Route 1, yet a close drive to attractions, beaches, restaurants, shopping and antiquing. The Island is the perfect jumping off point to visit Wiscasset, Booth Bay Harbor, Bath, Damariscotta, Freeport, and Rockland. Westport's winding rural roads are perfect for a long scenic walk, bike ride or run. Just a short drive from the house you can enjoy hiking on one of the islands public preserves or launch your boat at the public boat dock. Yoga, pies, pottery, handmade items, pies and lobsters are some of the things you will find on Westport.

Just a short drive from the island and you will be on the scenic Route 1 where you will find Shaw's grocery store, restaurants, antiquing, canoe/kayak rentals, a ropes/zipline/gorilla laser tag park, and gas stations.

Head North on Route 1 and you will find yourself in “the prettiest village in Maine”, Wiscasset. Walk along the water front, enjoy a lobster dinner on the dock, eat at the famous Red’s or explore one of the many antique shops.

A little farther north and you can take a turn and head to Boothbay or Damariscotta. Both coastal towns are known for their shopping, dining, and antiquing. Boat tours for whale/seal watching and sailing or fishing adventures can be taken from both locations. Boothbay is also home to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, a stunning display of Maines natural coastal landscapes enjoyed by adults and children. The children’s garden is a magical place to explore. Pemaquid Point Light house and beach is a short drive form Damriscotta.

A short drive on Route 1 and you will cross the Kennebec river to head into Bath, “the city of ships”. Great dining and shopping along with the Maine Maritime Museum can be found in this waterfront town. Don’t forget to pick up some local Maine produce at the waterfront farmers market which runs year round.

Not far from Westport you will find two beautiful Maine beaches. Reid State park’s sandy beaches, tidal pond, and bath house is the perfect place to cool off on a warm summer day. Popham Beach is a “must see” in Maine. One of the most beautiful parks in Maine!!! This is where Maine keeps all it’s sand! Miles of beach, tidal rivers, and and island(at low tide) to explore. Surf, boogie board, kite sail, paddle board, swim, relax or beach comb. There is something for everyone at this stunning beach. Walk to the island at low tide or swim in the warm waters of this beach.

While only renting through Homeaway since the fall of 2014, our reviews speak for themselves. We have had wonderful guests who have enjoyed our beautiful family home and acres of private land on the mid-coast of Maine. Our renters have enjoyed the secluded property while being close enough to explore from Portland to Camden and all of the great stops in between that the mid-coast has to offer. We have made sure to provide every amenity to make your stay comfortable, relaxing and fun. We are always here to help you plan your trip to the mid coast and are extremely attentive to your questions and needs. We have a 2 week maximum stay.

a BIG slice of heaven on earth!

Another perfect stay at Hubbard Point. Life's tension is shrugged off heading down the driveway. The house is always spotless and inviting. The grounds are very private and peaceful. Amazing sunsets had us "staying home" for dinner followed by a star lit sky. A good night's sleep is all but guaranteed on very comfortable beds and wonderful pillows. We'll be dreaming about next years' stay!

Stay at westport island

Overall we were very satisfied. The house was great... all rooms were clean/comfortable and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was very well stocked and we had everything we needed. Communication with Kim was great too.... she was accurate and timely in responses. We kayaked from the dock... and it was really beautiful. Access was a little awkward as you have to go into other house's garden to get to dock.... but the people were great and everyone knew it was shared dock so it was fine.

Lovely Week on Westport Island

A truly spectacular property with amazing views of the water made for a relaxing week. We were treated to daily visits from deer, porcupines and the occasional eagle soaring overhead. The house was exactly as advertised, comfortable and authentic. While not a complaint, but more a heads up, the trail from Dunn House around the peninsula to the DAL house is no longer manageable with many large trees down and mimimal trail markings. It didnt prevent us from finding other hiking trails close by that we greatly enjoyed. Or from walking down the driveway to the Heal Cove to watch our dogs leap off the dock into the water. Thanks for sharing your delightful homestead.

Maine Paradise

This property is stunning. It's so private and pretty. The house has that authentic Maine historic feel in the rooms of the original house, and the additions over time, including the majestic sun room, round it out as an amazing vacation spot. We didn't realize that there was water access on the other side of peninsula, but that's on us for not reading everything thoroughly. Otherwise, this one is up there with the best we've stayed at. Thank you!

Beautiful Spot

A beautiful house in a very private and scenic location. We enjoyed the view and the trail around the property. The trail markers were difficult to find at times but it’s an easy hike and the view from the point is lovely. Our dogs enjoyed running around the large yard and lounging in the sun.

What a perfect place to unwind!

From the minute we drove down the driveway I knew we had a relaxing week ahead of us. The house was spotless and had everything we needed and then some. The views are spectacular and we made sure we were "home" to enjoy the sunsets. The eagles provided a daily airshow. We got to see the local porcupines without incident! Our four legged son Newman was delighted with the bucket of toys at his disposal. There was plenty of hiking close by so we didn't have to deal with the masses. We'll be counting the days until next year's return to the Dunn House!

Beautiful Property

We had a wonderful time at the Dunn house. The location of the property was beautiful, and the views were amazing. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. The sunroom and the living room gave us plenty of space to spread out. The owner was quick to respond and answered any questions we had. Our whole family had a great time and would definitely love to stay there again.

We enjoyed everything about our stay. The house had so many extra touches for us and our dog. Any time we needed something, it was there. Plus, it was furnished and stocked with top-notch items like 680 count sheets and ll bean comforters. The hosts were intentional about making their guests feel like it was their own home away from home.

Small piece of paradise

Our stay at the Dunn House was nothing short of amazing. We had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The kids room got a little warm, but the fans were helpful. The AC’s around the home were essential and very much appreciated. The home is peaceful and every night we were greeted by a family of deer and other wildlife. Kim, our host was incredibly responsive to our every need. The home is located a little off grid so if you’re vacationing with kiddos and plan to travel to Saco, Old Orchard or Popham - you’ll need to incorporate travel time into your plans. Great place to getaway with your partner.

Beautiful, Comfortable and Quiet

This was our second stay at Dunn House and we loved it once again. The house is very clean, quiet and well-equipped. We had one minor problem with the gas fireplace that the owner took care of promptly so we could use it on the cooler mornings. The area is beautiful with lots of great outdoor activities. We look forward to returning next year!

Great stay!

We very much enjoyed our time! The house is very clean and well equipped. Such a sweet spot on the water and very private. A great house for families! We had a toddler with us so a couple helpful tips would be to make sure you bring gates (three sets of stairs) and something to blackout windows for nap time. Our dogs loved the big yard! The dock access is not as close as you might think but still so nice if you catch it when tide is in. Paddling in the cove was beautiful! The trails on the preserve could be marked better. Being a private preserve it does not see much traffic and is hard to see trail in spots. My only big disappointment was that the pie place was closed for our entire stay. I was excited about pie! :)

Serene and private

What a beautiful property. Dunn house makes you feel so welcome. Everything you could want or need is provided. Even some toys for the pooches:) The house is spacious and very comfortable. You can gather in the sunroom or spread out when that's desired. The furniture is super comfortable. I spent every morning on the couch looking out on the water. The kitchen is outstanding and fully stocked. It was a pleasure cooking meals together for the family. Our dogs had a blast playing outside, the yard is HUGE! Kimberly is extremely attentive and responsive. She has thought of everything and truly knows how to create an experience where you feel welcomed into someone's home. We would love to return someday.

While I am the representative for the rental of the Hubbard Point Trust properties, the Trust is owned by my family, the Ahlers.
The Hubbard Point Trust was left to my family by our Aunt Doris, who purchased the property during the sixties.
Everyone in the family has many wonderful memories of our travels to Maine from NewJersey and our many adventures on Westport Island with Aunt Doris. We feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to continue to enjoy this beautiful Maine property many years after her passing and to introduce Maine life to the continuing generations of our family.
Memories of our aunt are here everywhere for us on the point. The Dunn house has been carefully restored and updated with addition of a beautiful sunroom that Aunt Doris, an architect, would certainly approve of. She loved to use skylights and windows to take advantage of the beautiful Maine views. She even was known to do her drawings in the net house that sits upon Heal Cove. Any addition or update is always done with her in mind. We think she would be proud of the care and love that has been put into her beloved Westport Island homes.

What makes this property unique

The Dunn and DAL houses are located on our private 52 acre preserve. The Hubbard Point is surrounded by water on all sides with the Dunn house on the western shore on Hockomock Bay and the DAL on the eastern shore, sitting right upon Heal Cove.
This offers renters a unique opportunity to rent both houses for larger groups. The houses are only are short walk away from each other on the property, separated by the tall pines of the forrest between them. The houses are close enough for a group yet far enough away that if you are renting one home you have privacy. 52 acres with its miles of shoreline, woodland trails, expansive yards are yours to explore. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, bird and nature watching are all right here. You may never want to leave!
