Located in Castellina in Chianti in Tuscany, Italy, 'Isola Serena' is a beautiful private luxury villa on 4 acres of land with the most breathtaking views in the Tuscan countryside. Overlooking Siena and covered in vineyards, olive groves, and captivating forestry, this brand new villa just finished restoration in June 2014 and recently expanded in 2023 to include 2 additional guesthouses. The property now has a total of 10 bedrooms and can sleep up to 23 people, making this one of the biggest villas in Chianti and a self-contained private resort. The villa was restored by local Italians of the highest standard to maintain the Tuscan culture, artisanal tradition, and craftsmanship, whilst complemented by modern furniture and contemporary amenities.

Some of the finest quality local materials that were used include hand-made terra cotta floors, Italian marble and travertine for the terraces and bathrooms, chestnut windows and doors, and walnut for the kitchen and library.

The main house is 440 sq metres (4500 sq ft) with 6 bedrooms and all ensuite bathrooms and a library which can be used as a proper bedroom. It includes a large terrace overlooking the countryside, a beautiful brand new large 66 x 13 ft private infinity pool, a small plunge pool, multiple barbeque areas, a newly built children's playground with enclosed sandbox onsite, a gym, full kitchen, dining room, library, free WIFI, satellite TV, and all modern amenities that are perfect for cooking, entertaining, and relaxing.

In 2023, we recently expanded the property to also include 2 additional beautiful private guesthouses (each guesthouse is 600 sq ft) with each guesthouse having two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. 1 guesthouse has one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette, and adjacent to it, there is a second separated bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The 2nd guesthouse is a private house with two bedrooms that each have ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen, and a TV area.

Simply a dream come true

We were a group of 23, ranging from 18-70. We used Isola Serena as our base to take day trips to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and the location is perfect. The Villa is simply a dream come true. Everything you can read about it is far from what you will experience. The rooms, the kitchen, the pools, and the insane terrace view is one we will never forget. Then the attention from the online booking from the Kalen Property team to the onsite personal attention with Rafaella who was always on top of everything made this perfect. Don’t hunk about it.. book this beautiful Villa and enjoy a Tuscan life! You will remember it forever.. I know we will. Grazie!

Fantastic Week at Villa Isola Serena

We looked at many properties, both online and during a December visit to Chianti. This villa was by far best location we found. Everything was perfect, from our communication with Serena, to the reception by Raffaella, and then a stay in an amazing villa in an amazing setting. We were a group of maximum 9 persons, ranging in age from 20 to 60, and all were pleased with the amenities, especially watching the sunset across the vineyards and hills of Tuscany from the terrace. We will be looking to come back, maybe in the fall when the grapes have been picked and the tourists have all left for home. Bravo!

Absolute PARADISE!!!

We cannot recommend this villa highly enough!! There are no words to fully describe the beauty of Isola Serena. The main villa & new guesthouses, along with the outdoor spaces, were so thoughtfully and beautifully restored - the property was both luxurious and authentic to Tuscan style. It was easily the most beautiful place we have ever had the opportunity to stay, with views that almost seemed like they couldn't be real! The hosts, Serena and Peter, were so kind and communicative before & during our stay. They provided an extensive list of recommendations - each one we visited was excellent! We especially loved our private dinners @ home with Chefs Andrea & Paola. Raffaella, the property manager, was so kind and showed us around the villa at check in. Both Raffaella and Serena were quickly available for any questions we had throughout our stay. Castellina was a perfect location - we loved driving into town each morning and visiting many of the local restaurants and wineries (which were spectacular). It was also a central location to adventure out to Firenze, Montalcino, and Montepulciano (all within about 1 hour or less). Even in April, we loved lounging by the infinity pool - it was straight out of a magazine! Sunsets were completely picturesque from the upper patio. Every night, we used the smaller pool which was perfectly heated to serve as a hot tub. Thank you SO much, Serena, Peter & Raffaella - you made Castellina feel like home, and we can't wait to return!!

Beautiful villa

The pictures do not do the villa justice. The views from the villa’s terrace, infinity pool deck and splurge pool patio are all amazing…looking over the Tuscan countryside. Spectacular sunsets too. The interior is nicely decorated and perfect for our group of 9 adults. Each bedroom has its own ensuite and all are spacious. The house manager Natalia is very responsive - even to an urgent maintenance issue. We will definitely be back!

Best week ever!

We stayed at Isola Serena for my 50th birthday trip/celebration. There were 3 couples and 3 single women in our group. The property was even more beautiful in person than the beautiful photos you see on the listing. It’s indescribably gorgeous. We loved that every bedroom was en suite. The kitchen was well appointed. Matteo and Natalia provided anything we needed and facilitated a smooth check-in and out process. The Sonos system was awesome! We would play music by the pool and different music in the kitchen. We hired Chef Matisse for 2 dinners. We would defined recommend him. The hikes around the property were a perfect way for us to work off the pasta and wine. The pool was also wonderful for laps or hanging out. The views are unbelievable. The location is perfectly central for visiting all of the adorable and historic towns around Chianti. The beds were comfortable and we woke up every morning rested and ready for a new day of exploring the region. The patio was also a wonderful spot to hang out. We had a few dinners outside, as well. This was literally one of the best weeks of my life and Isola Serena was a key part of it. I cannot wait to go back. I am in love with Italy and in love with this property. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Large home with beautiful views

Our group had a wonderful stay at Isola Serena. The views are amazing and the house is well stocked with everything needed. The pools are lovely and kids enjoyed swimming. We can’t say enough good things about the house manager, Natalia. She helped us many times with dinner reservations, recommendations and made sure we knew to get groceries as things are closed sundays. She is one of the best managers we’ve encountered in our travels! We highly recommend this house for a big group.

THE Best Family Vacation!

Our stay at Isola Serena was hands down the best family vacation we’ve ever had! The villa is simply perfect- from the incredible views surrounding the property, to the gorgeous infinity pool, to the herb and tomato garden, to relaxing in the heated plunge pool - everything was a dream. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need- and the local grocery store is a short drive away! So many fantastic restaurants nearby to try. Going out for day trips to nearby towns was also straightforward. Coming back to relax and lounge by the pool was the perfect way to end the day! There’s something special about Isola Serena - you simply feel happy and calm once you step foot onto the property. Kudos to Natalia the property manager being so responsive, professional and helpful. For an extra special meal and experience, we highly recommend a private dinner and pasta making class with Paola. Thank you Isola Serena for being the perfect paradise escape for our entire family to enjoy!

What a Way to Relax!

Isola Serena is a hidden gem between Florence and Siena and many other beautiful Tuscan towns and wineries in between. The Villa is very private and immaculate in every respect - lots of space, modern, yet with an old Tuscan farm-like appeal. And the views? Absolutely amazing. Personally, I would look no further if you want a true Tuscany Villa adventure all your own.

What a glorious time we had at this property. We were 5 couples vacationing together and wanted to stay at an upscale property to establish as our home base. Our expectations were exceeded. All of the bedrooms were very comfortable and set up as king beds and all had their own private bath. The kitchen facilities were first rate and the outdoor areas were exquisite. Beautiful scenic views from all directions. There was plenty of room for 10 people so that we can have our private space when needed. The property manager was excellent and made sure all of our needs were met. We hired a private chef for 3 days (recommended by the property management company) and his meals were outstanding and he and his staff had superb customer service skills. Finally, the extra luxury that we were not expecting was a new 20 yard long infinity pool on the property. This was such a benefit for us because 4 individuals in the group swim laps as part of their regular exercise routine and this pool was long enough to give you a good workout. The other 6 individuals were hikers and the property is surrounded by beautiful walking trails for everyone to enjoy. The villa is located in a great location close enough to do day trips (if you have a car) to many beautiful cities (Monteriggiano, San Gimignano, Florence, Volterra, etc.) in the area. If you are thinking of vactioning in Tuscany this is the place to be. If we travel back to the area we will definitely stay here again.

Isola Serena Review

The villa property is more stunning than the pictures indicates. Ensuite bathrooms in every bedroom makes for a great spot with larger groups. The short drive to the centre of Castellina in Chianti and other surrounding Tuscany towns was great. We can't say enough about the pool. Wow! The property manager Natalia was very responsive and was quite helpful in securing drivers and restaurants reservations. We'll be back! Ciao!

Absolutely Incredible.

We had a dream getaway at Isola Serena. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away but the uniquely Italian character and breathtaking Tuscany views, with modern amenities for that extra level of comfort. Each of the six large bedrooms has its own ensuite washroom so no fighting over who gets which room, they’re all great! The kitchen is spacious for cooking large family meals and has a dishwasher to help with quick clean up. Or not into cooking on vacation, the hosts helped organize our own personal chef - what a treat! The large patio and pool looks out on the classic Tuscan view of endless rolling hills of vineyards and olive groves and the large patio table is perfect spot to enjoy a feast with family and friends - everyone will fit! It’s also less then a 10 minute drive into town to pickup fresh food from the market and visit the local shops. From there your in central Tuscany so it’s a quick drive to explore the unique neighbouring towns or go into Siena or even Florence where you can stop in at places like The Mall for some great designer shopping. I can’t say enough about how much our family enjoyed our stay other then, we can’t wait to be back! So many more hidden gems to explore. DREAM VACATION - Paradise in the heart of Chinati

My stay with my family at Isola Serena, was nothing short of incredible. Our time there was a dream, that will continue to return to us forever. The Hosts Serena and Peter, as well as the Property Manager are lovely people. They were extremely helpful in assisting me with organizing my stay. Everything from getting to and from the villa, chefs, wine tours, activities etc. The villa itself was extremely clean, and welcoming. It truly felt like home. The pictures really do not do this property justice. The views from the terrace and the pool are absolutely breathtaking. So magnificent, that we often felt there was no need to leave the property. However, if we felt like getting out. Castellina in Chianti, is a short 10 minute drive from the villa. This allowed for easy and frequent day trips to markets and gelato for the kids. Everyone had their own space, with large bedrooms and ensuites, it felt like a mini hotel of our own. I can not wait to return! Until Next time! Ciao!

Isola Serena is everything you are looking for.

I was looking for the perfect villa for a memorable vacation with my grown family (8 adults). Isola Serena checked all of the boxes for me. Centrally located in Castellina di Chianti, a great (not too) little town offering great views, restaurants, wine and some shopping. Castellina is the perfect launching point for regional day trips through central Tuscany as we easily traveled to Florence (north), Siena (south), San Gimingnano (west), Montepulciano (SE), and several other quaint smaller towns and wineries in between. The villa is beautiful, everything as advertised, so much space and privacy for everyone - bedrooms/modern bathrooms/appliances/internet, etc. - again, as advertised and more. The villa has extreme privacy, located at the end of a long, winding dirt road, in the middle of an olive grove and vineyard - just beautiful. For hikers - there is a hiking trail that starts along the driveway road (marked) and ends approx 2 miles later at the villa - perfect for a morning hike. The villa back patio is large with stunning views over the valley, comfortable patio furniture, and is conducive for family togetherness. The patio also has a covered area with a large table for meals and just hanging out for drinking the local wine. The local wine - try them ALL. In restaurants - the house wine is terrific! The check-in and check-out process with Natalia was so easy. She was so accommodating to answer all questions pre-trip and during our stay - easy communication thru What's App. This was a trip of a lifetime.

Amazing Villa

Villa is amazing, love the patio area with stellar views and multiple seating areas for a large group. Pool is down below the main patio area so the view isn't quite as spectacular (but still nice obviously). The kitchen is large and has multiple coffee making devices including an espresso machine which was nice. The bedrooms all have their own private bathroom making it ideal for multiple couples. The location is private and isolated making it a great place if you just want to relax at the Villa. This being said if you want to explore the area note that the Villa is a few miles down an unpaved windy road. It does add an extra 5-10 minutes on to a trip and isn't ideal if you want to imbibe in a few glasses of wine and then head home. The view and the villa itself make it worth the drive.

Amazing villa in Tuscany

The property was so luxurious with every bedroom having its own en suite full bathroom and the most amazing views of the surrounding wineries. The common areas were so spacious and well equipped. Natalia the property manager was so helpful and attentive and effectively served as a personal concierge during our visit from suggesting restaurants, wineries, and tours, to arranging for car service for our departures. Having the villa as our home base made our week in Tuscany truly unforgettable. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful retreat in Tuscany

Our family of 9 had a wonderful experience staying in this first class villa in the heart of Tuscany. Overlooking vineyards with an expansive view of rolling Tuscan hills took our breath away. Mornings on the deck with our cup of coffee and evenings with a glass of wine just soaking in the spectacular sunsets & twilight hours is beyond description. The property is well built & furnished with all one could need in a home away from home. The number of bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, was what sealed the deal for us. The location is just a 10 minute drive from a charming village, Castellina in Chianti, and also in close proximity or reasonable drive of several hilltop towns that we all enjoyed exploring. One thing we did that we highly recommend is hiring Chianti Chef, Matisse, to come to the villa one evening & prepare a 4 course Tuscan meal for us. The meal was delicious & Matisse was a friendly, upbeat welcome addition to our evening. It was a family memory making week that we will all treasure.

Great stay!

Perfectly located outside of Castellina with a wonderful view. Well appointed house lacking nothing. The manager, Natalia, is great with logistics. Order up the chef to come cook.

The Italian Job from Orange California.

This is the perfect vacation get away location hands down, we love the property. We had 5 couples the 6 rooms with on-suites was a remarkable and very spacious. The house and grounds were done to perfection, air conditioning in ea. Room of the house a huge huge plus. The pool is just right for relaxing day or night. The view is spectacular, the sun set and sunrise are breath taking. Our favorite two places were the kitchen and Patio the kitchen is so spacious 10 adults cooking and eating you won’t find a better lay out 10 bar stools surrounding the island is to die for in any house. The patio sits 10-12 easily one large table perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner looking over the vineyards. 5 small little villages with in a half hour. Day trips to Florence, Siena, cinque Terra are all a must. If you have a week of f this is a go all day every

A most amazing villa

Our family of 6 adults and 4 children stayed at Isola Serena for 2 weeks and could find nothing to be lacking. It is a beautiful home with amazing views and is completely stocked and equipped with everything one could ask for. The owners have done an amazing job on the property, inside and out, and there are not enough kind things we can say about Natalia, the Manager. She took care of our every need immediately, from helping us find our way the first day, to dealing with minor issues during our stay, and solving an emergency transportation issue late on our last evening-she is truly amazing. The only minor issue that we can point out is that the small pool is not really heated as it was quite cold during our stay despite several trips from the "pool guy". Maybe the heater was broken but no warm water was available, although the children still had fun in the pool. Although somewhat off the beaten path, the location was perfect for us to explore much of the Chianti region and the privacy and quiet was worth being a few kilometers from town. We also had Chef Matisse provide a meal for us during our stay-another recommendation from Natalia-and that was a wonderful experience. I Would highly recommend this property and hope to return someday.

I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and have been traveling to Italy for many years for vacation ever since I was on exchange in Germany for a semester 20+ years ago. The first time I visited Tuscany, I instantly fell in love with the beautiful scenery, wine, food, and culture. In the summer of 2012 when I went on my annual Tuscan vacation with my fiancee, a real estate agent showed me this farmhouse which is mentioned in written historical sources as early as 1077. With over 4 acres of private land and the most breath-taking views overlooking Siena and covered in vineyards, olive groves, and forestry, my fiancee and I knew this was our dream home. After embarking on a 1 year restoration project and hiring all local Italians to maintain the Tuscan culture, artisanal tradition, and craftsmanship, this beautiful luxury villa is truly an oasis of serenity and perfection. The official name of the farmhouse is Podere Isola, meaning “island farm”, which I renamed to “Isola Serena”, meaning “serene island” and after my fiancée.
