Great spot for exploring southern AZ

We chose this VRBO because it was between the wineries and brewery in Sonoita as well Patagonia state park. It provided a comfortable place to spend the night. It’s also a great place to see the stars at night without a lot of excess lights. The owners were very accommodating and provided great information.

Peaceful

This was so much fun! We enjoyed the quiet, and lovely deck for French press coffee in the morning. (Donna supplied the French press and tutorial). Donna and Howard could not have been more accommodating. We were greeted by the sweet dogs every morning. Thank you to our hosts for caring for and saving so many animals. We recommend a stay here.

Such a friendly place

Owners could not be more personable, property exactly as described. I had a great evening in front of a firepit watching sunset, slept well under cozy quilts and woke to a lovely sunrise. And their dogs are a hoot !!

Peaceful

My hosts couldn’t have been nicer. The Vintage trailer is in immaculate condition, homey, and completely stocked. The bed was comfortable and their well water is some of the best tasting water I’ve had in years! Both indoors and outdoors spaces have a cowboy theme and are very inviting I was greeted by my hosts, their sweet dogs and very friendly horses. I only wish that I’d had more time there to unwind, kick back and view the scenery. I have been a VRBO host myself, and I would definitely come back and stay again!

Oasis in the Mountains

A gorgeous property with free roaming horses, friendly dogs and goats to pet! The trailer was adorable, cutely decorated, with a deck out front, air conditioning and frig, stove, shower. Donna gave us instructions on how to run everything in the trailer. 40 acres of privacy and quiet set back from the road! Loved it and Donna and Howard were the nicest people. Very reasonable price for all the amenities.

Very Happy Camper

Everything about the property, the camper and hosts was fantastic. Very comfortable! Bed- cozy-thick foam mattress top and soft sheets. Fridge-good-sized for a camper and easily fit my food and drink for the week -in addition to the S. Pelegrino and still water the hosts provided! They also left nice snacks, tea and coffee. Comfy outdoor furniture too. The property is a small ranch and I really enjoyed visiting dogs, horses, goats and cats. The horses were very friendly and wandered over to greet me a time or two. Rowan, one of the livestock guard dogs, hung out on my deck sometimes and I loved it. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Donna & Howard met me as I drove up and showed me how things worked in the camper. Their home and animals are up the driveway - far enough to give me privacy but be handy if needed. I appreciated their pointing out various things like extra lighting and how the heat works. If you don’t know camper life take the time to learn from them. Their communication was immediate and helpful. When I needed something Howard came over immediately-lent me an extension cord and made sure I had everything I needed. Donna is a massage therapist and I was very fortunate to schedule a massage with her at a very reasonable price, right there on property! How relaxing! She also leads a yoga class locally and invited me along. Easy to get to Patagonia and the Lake, Sonoita and trails, wineries, Gathering Grounds for breakfast and Velvet Elvis for dinner.

About the host

Host profile image
Howard and Donna moved from California to Arizona shortly after they married in 2017. As horse lovers and people persons their vision was to purchase a ranch to offer yoga retreats, horsemanship classes or just to offer a comfy, down home place to stay in a rural setting. The Rockin RB Ranch AZ enables them to offer just what they envisioned. Howard has decades of experience with horses having managed horse rental and boarding stables and as a working cowboy. Donna's area of expertise is yoga and healthy living. They both enjoy teaching novice horse enthusiasts the basics.
Even if their guests are just coming for a relaxing getaway, to visit the wineries, to go hiking, birdwatching, or day trips to surrounding tourist towns, they enjoy making their guests feel welcomed and comfortable.
Since they live on the property they can address any concerns immediately if any issues comes up. Otherwise, your time at the ranch will be just that, your time to breathe deeply and kick back. Your privacy is of utmost importance and will be respected.

Why they chose this property

Rural, rural, rural. If you want to get away from it all but still want options of things to do, this is the place to be.

What makes this property unique

The ranch sits conveniently off of Hwy 82, close to the wine country of Sonoita / Elgin, which has wines comparable to the best wines in France. Heading a few miles south is the quaint town of Patagonia with it's eclectic shops and restaurants. The Paton Hummingbird Center, and the Sonoita Creek Preserve are fabulous for nature lovers, birders, and hikers. Rolling hills surround the property. The area is a Sky Island with many migratory birds. There is alot of western history in the area.
The Coronado National Forest is right out the back gate of their property for exploring and hiking.
