Welcome to our charming, newly built modern cabin hidden among preserved Lost Pines forestland in Red Rock, Texas. You have private access to all 15 acres of this pristine nature. We recommend taking a deep breath as soon as you arrive. Fresh pine needles, wild thistle, yaupon holly, beautyberry, and wildflowers abound.

The cozy interior provides all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The cabin is 1500 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Acoustic guitar, telescope, record player with a few vintage vinyls, books and board games for extra smiles.

You'll also find a large fire pit with firewood and a S'mores Starter Kit welcome gift. A propane fire table and a charcoal grill with a bag of charcoal to get you started.

OTHER STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- You’ll have to drive on a bumpy dirt road for about 1.5 miles to get to the property. Your car may get dusty. Consider it part of the country experience.
- We are in the country and you may hear country noises, like coyotes, woodpeckers, crickets, cicadas, trains in the distance, and the occasional distant gunfire (especially during hunting season). This is Texas after all. Please do not shoot any firearms on the property.
- Cell phone service is spotty at best. If you have Verizon you are out of luck, but AT&T works fine. We do have high-speed internet and wifi. Keep this in mind while you’re hiking.
- While hiking, be mindful of barbed wire fencing, trip hazards, and falling branches.
- There are several exterior security cameras that monitor the outside of the cabin. They help keep the cabin safe when no one is there. These cannot see inside the cabin.
- We are on septic. Please do not flush any products other than toilet paper. Not even products that say they are "flushable" like wipes. Thanks!

Relaxing retreat

Just stayed here for the Labor Day weekend. The pictures really do it no justice. The owners have really done great with the place. Feels very warm and cozy. We brought along 2 huskies who loved the outdoors. My family and I are already considering going back during the winter.

Lovely house surround by nature

We had great communication from Ryan and received everything we needed to know in the Welcome Binder. This house is much more spacious than it looks (we were 10 guests) and is one of the CLEANEST houses we have booked so far. Also, it is fully equipped with your essential home needs which is a huge plus! The outside seating area is beautiful and perfect for campfires or star gazing. Lovely property and a 10/10 overall!

Quick family Austin Getaway

My family had a great time in the country. The kids loved exploring the property and getting dirty. They loved the huge pine trees. It felt like we were in Colorado. In the guestbook was a map of the property that helped us find our way and also had some fun little surprises that the kids liked on the hike. The house was clean and the s’mores gift basket was a nice touch. Ryan was a good communicator too. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel like they are off the grid but still want all the modern amenities.

Thanksgiving 2024

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house and the grounds are beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes... we were able to stay in and cook all our meals there. The smores welcome pack was awesome. We spent most, if not all, of our nights around the fire pit just enjoying nature and lots of smores. There is a huge bathtub in the master bath, my 5 year old niece enjoyed her nightly "swim" (and the tub was never more than half full). We had six people total and had to let the water heater recover halfway through the showers (especially with the bath) but that was just a mild inconvenience. (My place has an "on demand" water heater so I am just out of practice waiting for hot water.) There were plenty of towels and wash cloths in each bathroom and there is a luggage rack in each bedroom. We hiked around outside along the paths and off the path for a while but that was an accident... (I would definitely recommend taking a copy of the map from the welcome binder with you ...with all the trees it is easy to get turned around out there). There is a great swing set behind the house as well. We stay at "VRBO"s several times a year and this is one of the best ones we have seen up to now as far as communication and amenities and the condition of the house and property.

Amazing Retreat Home!

Our family of EIGHT (two adults, four teens, two younger ones) had an amazing time. The property has three nice bedrooms, each with a bed. Our kids don't like sharing beds but it wasn't a problem because each bedroom had two rollout beds. The teens claimed the rollout beds were more comfy than the real beds (but, I can confirm the real beds were very nice!). The property is extremely well taken care of. The owners respond very quickly to all inquiries even after we checked in! They must have their phones on them almost constantly. I would describe the property as luxury-country. ;-) My only "complaint" would be that the water heater temperature was too low for a fiery hot bath or for eight people (130-degrees) but I just turned it up myself. I think 130-degrees is normal temp according to most places. But, we LOVED the outdoor fire pit! Every night we used some of their provided wood and made a fire, sat around it as a family, and made s'mores. WONDERFUL! Property was very clean. Very cute. Thank you!!! Jeff

About the host

Hosted by Ryan Drake

Host profile image
Our family lives in Austin, with most of our time taken up by kids sports, birthday parties, and spending time with family. We love hosting because we feel this unique piece of land is gorgeous and should be shared with others.

Why they chose this property

We love the Lost Pines area of Texas. It's almost like a secret forest where the land transforms from coastal plains to this little pocket of tall loblolly pines. It makes you feel like you're in a totally different state.

What makes this property unique

We designed our cabin and this property to feel like an escape for you and your group. We obsessed over the details so you have what you need for a comfortable stay and to help you connect with each other and with nature.
