Wonderful place to stay with a beautiful view and beautiful house!

Loved our week on the sound! The owners have attended to every detail in their beautiful home and are very generous with their time and attention!! The house was plenty large enough for the 6 of us, the kitchen is large and has everything you need for preparing any meal. We used the lobster pot a lot! Having the half bath and laundry room is very convenient. The most amazing thing about the house is the view!! We enjoyed relaxing on the beautiful deck, fishing off the dock, seeing jellyfish and seals in the water and watching the tide come in and out. Being in the middle of the island was convenient as we enjoyed visiting every part of it and finding the locals to help with fishing supplies and fresh lobsters and the best places to eat and shop. We enjoyed Pretty Marsh, Long Pond, Southwest Harbor, the Seawall and Echo Lake on the “quiet side” and of course all that Acadia National Park has to offer and downtown Bar Harbor. Sand Beach and the trails around there were our favorite along with Cadillac Mountain. Thank you Mimi and Rick for an amazing stay!!

Beautfil, serene, peaceful.

My family and I have been coming to Hall Quarry, Seaweed for many years and we can't say enough about how beautiful and peaceful it is. Being right on Some Sounds and seeing dolphins come through and other ocean life is just amazing. Having coffee in the morning on the porch of Seaweed is pure joy as is having an evening fire amongst the stars. Mimi and Rick Mooers are wonderful owners of this property and we are so glad we found them. We look forward to returning this year and have chosen to see what the fall time is like at Hall Quarry and the beloved Seaweed. There is so much to do in the area from hiking to walking through Bar Harbor. It is a perfect vacation. Sincerely, Larry and Leona L.

Lovely cabin, extraordinary views, paradise!!!

We've stayed in the "new" Seaweed and it's predecessor for many years. Photos can't capture the panoramic views, smell of the salt air and the sounds of the waves breaking on the rocks. We commonly spot seals, small whales, cormorants and loons. We've watched eagles and osprey fly by. It's such a unique cabin as we often feel like we are not on land, but on the water. It's a beautiful, immaculately clean cabin with everything you'll need. It is close to Acadia and all it's beauty. Mimi and her husband Rick are great hosts, and always help to make our stay special. We can hardly wait to return this summer!

Perfection!

My family has been staying in Mimi & Rick's cottages for years, and every single stay has been amazing. Seaweed is incredible. This beautiful, peaceful setting is like no other. There are gorgeous views of Somes Sound and the surrounding mountains that can be enjoyed from the spacious deck, the picnic/patio area, or any window when indoors. The location is perfect, pretty much central to any spot on the island you would like to explore. The brand new cottage is very well equipped with everything you might need (and more!). It is spacious and modernized while maintaining a very cozy feel. It is kid friendly as well. Mimi & Rick are fantastic hosts, and we look forward to seeing them each year. I highly recommend this cottage! Would not change a thing about it.

Amazing Cabin - Wonderful Family/Owners

This was our second year at Seaweed and our 13th year renting with the Mooers & Musetti Families. We continue to return year after year due to their wonderful hospitality, the beautiful cabin and our love of Acadia. The cabin was rebuilt from the ground up and is such a gem! It is in a nice private location right on the water, with easy access to all Mt. Desert's charms. The property is kept extremely clean and well-maintained. Everything you could need for your visit is there and in perfect working order or comfort-level. The owners, Rick and Mimi are fabulous hosts and you can tell they care a lot about their property as well as the island they call home. I would highly recommend any property rental from this family. We continue to return year after year and start to count down the days to our next visit the day we leave.

Great location, fantastic views

We've stayed with Hall Quarry Rentals each summer since 2013. “Seaweed” is right on the water, we can hop in a cottage kayak and paddle to nearby Acadia trails or launch our boat. The cottage is fully renovated but still a cozy feel. Located on the "quiet side" of Acadia, still close to great restaurants, lakes, and trails - and a short drive to fine dining in Bar Harbor and all the outdoor activities the rest of the park and island have to offer. Breakfast or sunset on the deck offers spectacular views, including the occasional sailboat race going by. Our small dogs are welcome (on their best behavior!). Mimi and Rick are great hosts - a Somes Sound and harbor cruise in their boat is part of the fun. The property is clean and well-maintained.

Highly Recommended

We have had the pleasure of staying at Seaweed during three summers. This spacious and comfortable cottage is the perfect place to relax and gaze at beautiful Somes Sound. It is situated near great hiking trails, kayaking spots, and our favorite restaurants. What more could you ask? The owners, Mimi and Rick, are super friendly and responsive. We look forward to yet another wonderful stay at Seaweed this September.

Perfect!!

This cottage is a little piece of heaven on earth! Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and one of the best locations on Mount Desert Island, we have stayed here for many summers and it is always the highlight of our year. Mimi and Rick are excellent hosts, and have become like family. You will not be disappointed if you choose this wonderful place for your vacation!

The perfect place to recharge and be inspired.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Maine through the years and Hall Quarry stands out as an extraordinary place! It is low-key and quiet and incredibly beautiful. And, Seaweed specifically is a wonderful spot that would be hard to beat on MDI. The design of the cottage provides panoramic views of Somes Sound with water access at your doorstep— literally. The cottage is comfortable and immediately welcoming, offering all of the amenities you’d want for a home-away-from-home including a wonderful outdoor fire pit on the water’s edge! Morning, afternoon and night the changing light and skyscape outside these windows provide endless inspiration and interest. Hall Quarry is close to lakes, trails and restaurants and just short drives to Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. I stayed here for two weeks this year and look forward to returning in 2016 for three weeks! It is a perfect place to recharge, relax and do some creative work as well. Victoria Philadelphia, PA

Gorgeous Cottage - Gorgeous Scenery - So Relaxing

This was our first visit to Maine. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The cottage is beautifully furnished. A home away from home. The scenery is breath taking. This is a terrific place to come to get away from the hustle and bustle. Acadia Nat'l Park and Bar Harbor are less than 30 minutes away. Our three teenagers loved it too. They kayaked, climbed on the rocks, hiked, and just plain enjoyed all the "nature". We can't wait to come back next year.

About the host

Hosted by Mimi Mooers

Host profile image
Rick, Mimi, Colin and Riley Mooers and also Mimi's mom, Sharon Musetti are the owners of these cabins. Mimi and Sharon have had several years experience running and cleaning cottages. Mimi's husband, Rick, and children, Riley and Colin, have come into the business in recent years but have stepped up and have allowed the rentals to run as family owned and operated.

Why they chose this property

You can sit on the porch and watch seals, porpoises, and loons play in the water in front of the cottage. You are so close to the water, when sitting inside in the living room, you get the feeling you are on a boat, because at high tide you don't see land, and water surrounds you.

What makes this property unique

From the sun coming over the mountains to the spectacular views of Somes Sound, a photo does not give the beauty of the surroundings that Seaweed has to offer.
