THE AREA

Located only a mile down the road from Nolin Lake State Park, and a beautiful drive away from Mammoth Cave National Park, Gather is the perfect launchpad to explore the surrounding area. It is located in a tucked away, peaceful neighborhood.

Down the street, Nolin Lake State Park has a sandy beach with a dedicated swimming area in the summer, a no-fee boat ramp, bathrooms, and hiking and mountain biking trails at Brier Recreation Area. Lake fishing includes bass, crappie, walleye, bluegill, trout and catfish; be sure to bring your poles and favorite bait! Special fishing regulations apply.

Mammoth Cave National Park Visitor's Center is a scenic, meandering drive away, with quickest access through the town of Brownsville. Mammoth Cave National Park is the WORLD'S LONGEST underground cave system and a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Be sure to book a tour before you go to learn about the history, geology, and exploration of the caves. And don't forget to stop by Warnell's in Brownsville on the way home for a step back in time and a delectable soda shoppe treat (the chocolate soda is divine!).

THE SPACE

: : THE GOLDENROD ROOM : : QUEEN bedroom on main floor, decorated in the theme of the Kentucky state flower. Neutral wood tones and golden accents. A second full bathroom is located on this floor.

: : THE BLUE HERON ROOM : : QUEEN bedroom on main floor, decorated in soothing blue tones, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Blue Heron can be spotted locally around Nolin Lake, be sure to keep your eye out for them!

: : LOFT with comfy TWIN TRUNDLE bed, sleeps 2 guests.

: : BASEMENT Beautifully finished with a pull out QUEEN sleeper sofa, that can sleep 2. An additional half bathroom is located down here.

EATING: Well-stocked kitchen with pots & pans, dishware, utensils, coffee bar with fixings, and more! Dishwasher with detergent pods, dish soap, sponge, and starter rolls of paper towels provided. Dining table has room for 8. Saddle up to the counter for additional seating for 4 more.

RELAXING: Couches in main living area are conducive to settling down after a day of exploration, whether that is conversation, cards, or reading. A record player rounds out the area for some ambiance...feel free to bring along your favorites! Basement level offers another comfy couch for watching TV and a seating area for board games. And don’t forget about the dueling arcade games, foosball table, and life sized Connect 4!

OUTSIDE: Large upper deck with outdoor dining set, lounge seating, and propane grill (propane is included). Lower concrete patio with additional seating.

A lighted path leads you to chairs around the fire pit. Firewood is available on property. If too wet from spring rains, there is a guy off of Brier Creek Road as you come in who sells firewood.

SECURITY: There are outdoor security cameras at the two main entrances to the house for security purposes only. Please do not attempt to cover or otherwise tamper with them; doing so will result in immediate eviction without a refund.

PARKING: Neighborhood access road and driveway are gravel and have some slope in parts (which is what makes for the scenic view!); AWD or 4WD is recommended and preferred, especially if weather is or has been inclement. If visiting before the neighborhood regravels in the late Spring, it can be a bumpy (though short) ride depending on how much snow and rain we’ve had. When you get to the house, there is ample space for multiple cars on the driveway; please do not park on the lawn or on the neighborhood road. Garage itself is not available for parking.

LAKE ACCESS:

Dock access is NOT included nor available with house rental, due to stringent rules set by the Army Corps of Engineers, who govern Nolin River Lake and its shoreline. This goes for any rental on Nolin Lake.

From the Army Corps of Engineers:

17.3.11. Facilities granted under this permit will not be leased, rented, sublet or otherwise used in the course of any commercial activity by the permittee or his/her agent for monetary gain. The use of a permitted group boat dock by individuals renting lake property constitutes unauthorized commercial activity. The use of the dock facility is intended for the mooring of the permittee’s vessel or watercraft. Such use includes the storage of gear essential to the operation of such vessel or watercraft in enclosed locker facilities.

You are allowed to use the neighborhood stairs (at your own risk) to get to the shoreline to access the water for swimming, fishing, or dropping in kayaks or canoes. Please note there are 119 steps down to the lake, and coming back up often requires rest even for the healthiest individuals! Know your own limitations and act responsibly. To note: lake level is low from November-March, which makes the “winter pool” lakebed a fun place to explore! They start filling it back up in April.

BOATS AND RENTALS:

There is a boat ramp at the state park a mile down the road to launch your watercraft, with no fee to do so as it is a state-operated boat ramp.

Moutardier and Wax are the closest on-lake marinas that offer boat rentals. Wax is the closest by land, but the furthest by water to the lake house. Moutardier just changed ownership and underwent major renovations and is brand new! They rent both pontoon boats and jet skis. Please check their websites and socials for seasonal hours.

GROCERIES:

The house is in a peaceful, remote location, so you'll definitely want to plan to bring food and beverage in with you, and supplement at the local stores as needed, once here.

DG market is closest to the house, less than 15 minutes away off of Nolin Dam Road. It is a convenient, newer market and has most basic provisions, should you run out of something.

The Cee Bee Food Store in Brownsville is the next closest, about 20-25 minutes away to the south. A good option on the way back if you spent the day in the National Park.

Otherwise, Walmart and Save-a-Lot in Leitchfield are roughly 40 mins north and are the the larger chains with a wider selection.

If coming from the south, Bowling Green is 40 miles from the house and has big-box stores galore.

Lovely Stay

We had a wonderful time at the Serenity Cove Cabin. Super clean and the host was very accommodating to us. We enjoyed the amenities as well…hot tub, games, and spacious areas to relax outside and in. We even enjoyed the record player and listening to classic music. The location was beautiful and peaceful as well. We would definitely come back to stay if visiting the area.

Pretty and Peaceful

This property is easy to travel to, quiet and peaceful, and when you get there. It has new decorations and comforts of home that make the stay enjoyable and wish it was yours. Our group cooked a large dinner and there were plenty of amenities so we didn't run out of plates, silverware, utensils, pots, and pans. The grill was a big help too! Communication with the property owner has been fast when we have asked questions and needed information. I would recommend this location if you are looking for a quiet, quick getaway any time.

Beautiful and serene stay!

We loved our experience staying in this beautifully furnished home. The process was easy and the house was lovely. The host thought of everything, from board games and books, to plenty of space to sit outside, and great hot drink options (coffee, tea, etc). The furniture and furnishings are clean and high quality. The neighborhood has almost no traffic, so the birds are the only sounds outside. Highly recommend!

Why they chose this property

Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood just down the road from Nolin Lake State Park, you hear the sweet sound of birdsong in the mornings as you sip your coffee on the deck. Rolling Kentucky hills in the distance give a sense of peace and serenity. It is hard not to feel at ease, here!

What makes this property unique

Thoughtful touches, like soft white cotton linens, comfortable new mattresses and a fully stocked coffee bar make you feel at home. We’ve got fun for the kids, too, with ample outdoor space to roam as well as arcade, yard, and board games! The fire pit is the perfect place to wind down at the end of the day. Don’t forget to soak your worries away in the new hot tub!
