Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain. Or, watch for falling stars and search for constellations free of light and smog polution. The unobstructed views of the night sky are tremendous! You may plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. The comfortable couches are perfect to curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out sledding with the kids.
You will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, or a Pizza from the Saloon.
This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest and the Trail of 100 Giants. Be advised that last year’s fire devastated surrounding areas and some of the forest is closed for safety reasons.
You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved Lisa’s cozy Camp Nelson Cabin! We spent Valentine’s day weekend up there and it was so romantic with the cabin and the snowfall that we had! Highly recommend!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this cabin for a weekend of much-needed rest and relaxation, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the serene surroundings and the thoughtful touches throughout the property.
The cabin itself was spotless, cozy, and well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The rustic yet modern design made it feel like a perfect blend of charm and convenience. I especially appreciated the spacious deck where I could sit and take in the beautiful views with my morning coffee. .
Indoors, the fireplace provided a warm, inviting ambiance in the evenings, and the kitchen had all the essentials for preparing meals without hassle. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring I got restful sleep each night. Plus, the Wi-Fi connection was reliable, making it easy to stay connected when needed.
Overall, this cabin was exactly what I was looking for: a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet retreat in nature. I can’t wait to come back!

Awesome Cabin Getaway
Family of four were more than happy with our stay at this cabin. Lisa the property manager was prompt in her responses and the cabin was in good, clean condition for our visit. Great hiking on some secluded trails to see teh Giant Seqouias. Friend from Tahoe said we had to do it once. No regrets (or whining) from anyone in our group.

Great Spot!
Camp Nelson is a special place at approx 5000 ft elevation. Convenient little store and cafe within a 2 min drive from cabin. The cabin was as described. Clean and comfy beds. Kitchen easy to work in, wonderful outdoor space, great firepit. Cabin comes with lots of toys to keep the little ones busy - thank you so much for that lovely surprise, Lisa! A must family destination to unplug, enjoy nature and the beauty of the sequoias!

Great escape!
This charming cabin was a great "home base" for our brief escape from city life. It was reasonably close to wonderful sites such as Dome Rock, the Trail of 100 Giants, Stagg Tree and many others. All are within a 30-45min drive and not-to-be-missed! Located in the Camp Nelson area, we also benefitted from nearby access to a stream for swimming and friendly interactions with knowledgeable locals. The cabin itself is comfortably appointed and very clean. We brought some basic groceries and made use of the amply-supplied kitchen. (If I had to be picky, I didn't love that the wood paneling made some parts of the cabin seem dim even in broad daylight.) Between the wrap-around porch, the front yard/fire pit, and the cozy interior, it was plenty of space for our family of 4 to enjoy togetherness without feeling claustrophobic. There was even a bottle of wine to welcome us! We appreciated all the efforts to make our stay enjoyable!

Weekend Getaway
I just recently stayed at your property for a weekend getaway in the mountains. The area was nice, good location, friendly people, general store near by and a great tavern for late night drinks. Inside the cabin was cozy, a little old, but overall a cute cabin. There were some essentials that were missing like a dish sponge. There were a lot of spiders crawling out of the sinks, I know this is normal, especially when staying in the woods, but I've rented a lot of cabins in the past where this was not an issue. There is no trash service and they only supply you with ONE trash bag, which was really inconvenient and unrealistic. Other than those little things, it was a good stay. Plenty of linens, blankets and clean towels. Everything smelled nice like it was just washed. The beds are comfortable and the fireplace works great. We all had a great time and would gladly return to Camp Nelson.

Get away from the city weekend!
We loved staying the weekend here! Thank you for the bottle of wine that was awaiting us on our arrival. First thing we see outside the living room window were 10 deer grazing in the front yard. The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We were lucky enough to have a very warm Saturday so we drove down to the river and hiked to a spot all our own. it was gorgeous. We had lunch at Pierpoint Springs restaurant. They have delicious hamburgers. We try and come up to Camp Nelson every year since discovering it about 7 years ago. Every time we come up we find the break we've been looking for. No wi-fi or cell reception (except at the restaurant). We usually play cards and look at the stars for entertainment and barbecue for dinner. We usually come up in the summer, it was nice to see what it's like at this time of year. Sunday was a colder day and it had rained Saturday night. We went to see the 5th largest Sequoia, Stagg tree, which is 3000 years old. Your cabin is one of our favorites now, for the location, right in Camp Nelson, and for the very good ambiance. We really hope to be back soon, thank you so much!

Cabin in the Sequoia's
The area of Camp Nelson is a small, cozy community in a valley surrounded by the rugged High Sierra's and is very beautiful. Lots of pines, cedars and oak trees. There is not a lot to do there but go on local hikes as most sightseeing places of Sequoia are around a 3 - 4 hour drive. The exterior of the cabin itself was not what we expected in terms of the photos we saw online. The driveway is very rutted and difficult to maneuver unless you have a high profile vehicle. The decking and exterior wood of the cabin is in bad need of repair and paint, as is the foundation of the cabin which was evident by the warped floors inside the house. Although there is beauty all around, it is difficult to see if you are sitting on the front deck because the view is obscured by trees in the yard and many low hanging wires. The interior of the cabin is decorated in warm country style furniture and nick-nacks with a stone fireplace. The online photos of the inside of the cabin were more accurate than the outside and we enjoyed the coziness of the living room and dining room. The bathroom with the claw foot tub has had some water damage with part of the wall removed showing black mold which was a concern to us. The linoleum under the tub was also badly stained with possible mold underneath. We felt the rental fees were overpriced for what you get. Although we would not return, if you don't mind some of our concerns, this may be for you. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves meeting some of the locals and walking the neighborhood streets. There is a meadow nearby which is fenced and is mowed and watered daily. Dozens of deer hang out in the mornings and evenings making walks well worthwhile.
Property owner was super sweet and easy to communicate with. Gave amazing detailed instructions about the property and local amenities. Definitely would stay again!!!
I had an amazing weekend getaway at Lisa's cabin! It is sooo cute, quiet, and peaceful. I would definitely book this diamond again!! Thank you so much for sharing your space
The cabin was absolutely wonderful, cozy and fun. Also Lisa was the most responsive and amazing host we have ever had! Loved it! That being said there are a couple of good to knows for families planning to come.
1. Check the weather! We came when temps in the surrounding areas were in the 90s and 100s due to a heatwave. The valley was 110 - Yikes! Lisa was kind enough to put in a portable AC, which made the cabin liveable but we could only venture out for a few hours at a time due to the heat. Also, several areas were closed due to fire danger.
2. If bringing kids make sure to watch the crumbs and keep food sealed. We woke up to 100s of ants all over the kitchen one morning due to a food bag that was not fully sealed.
3. The area right around the cabin was sadly affected by a fire meaning much of it is burned out so you will have to venture 20-30 mins out in either direction to get to some nice spots. We went to the lower coffee camp 30 mins down the hill and the trail of 100 giants 1hr up the mountain for some fun.
Cute cabin in small town to get away from everything!
We had an amazing time in and out of the cabin. We went on a couple short hikes, walked around the town, visited local store, and enjoyed the deer in the small meadow in the "center" of town. Thank you Lisa for making your home our home for the weeke. Everything we needed was available. The views from the deck were amazing especially at sunset.. Beautiful colors!! This was our first visit to the Sequoia National Forest and really enjoyed it. Its unfortunate that is suffered so much from the wildfires, but we definitely plan on returning when she starts healing. We have but one con, saying goodbye! We loved it here! ❤🏞⛰🌄🦌🐿🌲thank you!
My friend and I truly enjoyed our stay at this charming, vintage cabin. It’s cozy and comfortable, with many special touches to make us feel welcome. The bottle of wine was especially nice.
The setting is peaceful and beautiful in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed being away from it all without being isolated. There is a local store with thoughtful essentials and a shopkeeper with helpful knowledge of the area.
We were especially grateful that many great hikes and magnificent Sequoia trees are within very reasonable driving distance. Some are quite close!
Overall, we had a wonderful time making memories we’ll cherish forever.
Cute, functionable mtn. Cabin. Views were amazing & loved the visits we had of the deer. There are a few things that need fixing that I will let the owner know about. Will rent this again!
Nice property, clean well kept. Rustic in nature and totally livable. Area is a throwback to the past. Close to lots of interesting things to do. Go see the Alonzo Stagg Sequioa. Go tonRick Done, Needles and Trail of 100 Giants. Hiking bring your shoes and walking sticks. If you plan on getting back to some of the backwoods area bring a 4 wheel drive.
This cabin sends you back to Hollywood westerns-1930s-40s. It is sooo adorable! Bed in master was great! Didn't use other bedroom. One bathroom had a shower, the other a clawfoot tub! Such a relaxing environment! So relaxing!! Everything you need. Vintage dishes and kitchen, but everything working and wonderful. Sitting out on porch with cup of coffee, looking at Sequoia mountains! Wow! Camp Nelson has gas station, general store and camp restaurant within walking distance. Tucked into canyon surrounded by amazing views! Would stay here in a heartbeat! Wonderful to also find gift of two bottles of wine, and toiletries! Thank you for the amazing stay!

clean, cozy, rustic, great
Nice location right in town. The house was clean and nicely laid out for a two-couples weekend. The kitchen was adequately stocked; I do recommend that if you plan to cook and need anything unusual, bring it with you. In short, it was excellent and I would and will surely rent this property or another under the same management again.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa McFadden Neath
Our family started in the rental business in 1974 in Bakersfield, California. It is our passion and pride to offer quality properties to our community and the communities we become a part of. We have expanded to the Central Coast and Sequoias. As owners that are hands on, we are proud of each unique property we offer to others to enjoy for a few days or make their home. As the second generation I am proud to carry on my dad's vision and dreams for our properties.
Why they chose this property
My dad had always dreamed of having a place in the mountains to fish and be amongst the trees. He wanted something to pass on to his family so he purchased this cabin in 1990. He loves that we are able to share it with others since he can't spend the time there he would like. He relishes in the great feedback from people that appreciate our property and enjoys getting to meet guests when he is around.
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is not a house, a mansion or a hotel, but a quaint and cozy preserved cabin that has been well loved and maintained. The best part? Cell Phones do not work in the mountains and we do not have internet service. This is truly a time away from all the hectic electronics of today's world. I can relax and not feel tied to work.
