About this property

Humble Cabin in Sequoia Park with crazy stars

At the gate of wilderness, the cabin affords a nice view of Sequoia's hallmark Moro Rock, and is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, and small families with young children. Simple and convenient accommodations do not spoil the spirit of Nature, yet provide all the necessities for a comfortable and pleasant stay.
The cabin is located inside the park, just a couple minutes' drive from the South entrance. It is part of a small subdivision of about less than a dozen houses, mostly private vacation properties and family residences. The feel is more local than touristy; buildings are well spaced apart along the mountainside so as not to spoil the view. The cabin living/dining room windows offer stunning views of the surrounding mountain range.
The best swimming spot on Kaweah River is just a few minutes' walk away. A 30 minute drive brings you to the high mountain sierra Sequoia Grove. Crystal Cave and Mineral King are also within driving distance.

The cabin features a full kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, cooking utensils and dining ware, and an outdoor barbecue area with grill, garden dining table and chairs.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. The upstairs loft can sleep up to three children or two adults. The living room futon transforms into a bed for extra sleeping space.

The living room and downstairs bedroom each have a flatscreen TV and DVD player. Currently, satellite TV is NOT available (however, please stay tuned... we are still working on improvements based on customer requests, and will post updates as they are made).

Lush location but

This cabin looks lovely and for the first afternoon or so we were happy. But sadly there was a really horrible smell in the main bedroom. To the point that I couldn’t sleep in there. So ended up sleeping on the sofa. The location was amazing it’s so pretty and the views from the cabin were great. We were also lucky we got to see a bear one evening outside the cabin. But like other reviews this cabin is sadly unloved. The bedding is old and has holes in it. The kitchen was good but all the pans are old and well used. The blinds are all broken. The toilet also blocked easily. But it was such a lovely location.

Cosy cabin in lovely location

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin and the communication with the host was very good Plus points: Comfortable for a family of 3 All basic amenities to cook meals Beautiful views and felt very remote at night, perfect for star gazing Bbq facilities with outdoor seating on the porch Within the park boundaries and near to trails Downside: The upstairs does get very hot though our daughter slept ok with the fan on Although clean, some areas could of done with a deep clean (ie. window blinds - though we did go near the end of the summer season so perhaps thos was due and it did get dusty) Overall a nice little place in a very good location and good value.

Pretty location, but not worth the hassle

The location is beautiful and peaceful, but overall the stay was disappointing. The sheets in the upstairs bedroom didn’t feel clean, which was uncomfortable. There’s no cell service or WiFi at all, and that’s never mentioned anywhere, which made things really inconvenient unless you wanna disconnect from world. Worst of all, the price listed in the app wasn’t what we were charged—the host sent a quote 100 higher after we booked. I only accepted because there were no other places available nearby, but it felt really dishonest and left a bad impression. On top of that, there’s an animal living under the house (probably a squirrel or something similar) that makes loud noises early in the morning and woke us up at night. The short road to get there inside the park is extremely steep and honestly kind of scary—I wouldn’t recommend going unless you have a 4WD. That should really be made clear in the listing.

Nice location with stargazing opportunities, but not clean

The location is beautiful, great for access to the park, and there were indeed great stargazing opportunities. Unfortunately the downstairs bedroom did have a bad smell that was quite strong, so we were not able to use the bedroom - I think the bed is the source of the smell and needs to be replaced. We had to wash the dishes before use, because they were dusty and dirty.

You Get What You Pay For

Beautiful location and easy to find. Instructions given by the host were accurate. The house itself was not the cleanest and we had to spend a bit of time cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. Biggest complaint was the overwhelming smell of animal urine in the main bedroom and mouse droppings in the living room. For the price, we can’t complain too much, but we will most likely explore other properties if we decide to return.

Quaint and quiet

This property is off the beaten trail in a very quiet neighborhood. It has a porch to enjoy the sunset and stars at night. The kitchen is adequately stocked. We cooked all our meals in the cabin. The bed is amazingly comfortable and the shower was clean. It could use a good cleaning removing dust bunnies from the corners and some old wood and a broken chair from the front of the cabin. I would stay there again.

We loved our stay. Could have had some more basic, kitchen towels, etc. Beautiful views of the canyon that should have been used in the discription instead of a a lake.

Dirty cottage

Old rundown cottage, that hasn't been decently cleaned in years. No wifi, cell phone signal or satellite. I don't believe the sheets were cleaned from previous rental.

Great location and stocked with essentials

This was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin is located so close to the entrance of the park that made it really easy to have as a homebase for a little day trips. My Kids had a great time staying in the lofted bedroom upstairs. The bathroom and kitchen were small, but tidy, and all of the essentials were there. Just make sure you print everything out before you get there because the Wi-Fi signal is poor. It was difficult to access The codes that were sent to me ahead of time.

Mom and daughter getaway

We wanted to see the sequoias. The location of the humble cabin was ideal, however the actual drive to the cabin was steep, full of potholes, and narrow. The main road access was fine. Overall a pretty location with pretty views. Location to eateries and entrance to the park was great. Only complaint are the smells emenating from the ac unit and towels, cabin overall could use a deep clean. Microwave wasnt working. Many light switches led to nothing.

Hot, humble cabin

Arrived at property at 6:30pm on a day that had a high of 110. Windows were open, wall a/c were running and curtains were open. It was cooking in there. Bedroom reeked of a body odor smell, never went away. Took at least 6 hours to cool down, not a great way to go to bed, hot and annoyed. Location is nice, crazy steep roads. Could use some TLC and toilet wobbles horribly. Microwave did not function.

Good location to just sleep

The location to the park is great, the cabin was quaint, but needs some upgrades. There’s not really anywhere for you to “be” outside. The loft upstairs was great. The room downstairs and just outside the rr to the stairs smells like dirty cat litter. We all just stayed in the loft. It was convenient to shower and sleep. We didn’t spend time there other than to sleep for the night. The beds are comfortable, but we couldn’t handle the smell of the room.

No communication from host

We messaged the host upon arrival to report some items that were not in working condition but didn’t receive a response throughout the stay. The cabin is basic, which we were aware of going in (we chose it because it is in the National park) but there were resources that were not in complete working order and some items listed in the description that are no longer available. There was a note left indicating these things, but no information provided prior to the check in. It would have been nice to receive a response from the host during the stay.

Cute, simple cabin in the mountains

This is just a cute little cabin at the base of the mountains inside the Sequoia National Park. Everything we needed was available and then some. It’s hot right now, so the little A/C struggled, but we just went up to the giant forest and waited for it to cool down a little. It was perfect!

Excellent cabin

First of all do not compare this to a hotel stay. This is a nice little cabin with everything you need to explore the beautiful national park. The location is excellent, a couple minutes within the park gates so you skip the line up of traffic going into the park. From previous reviews saying the driveway is steep, it is. However, we had a FWD rental and it got in and out with no issues, although we did have dry weather. They charged a reasonable price for what it is and we had a comfortable 2 night stay. There is A/C, hot showers, cutlery, pots, pans, fridge everything you would need. We are visiting from Toronto, so we didn't pack much and just got some food from a Target on the way up. Now some improvements that could be made: The beds were comfortable, however, we found hairs from previous guests in the bedding which was a little gross. We visited in July during a heat warning so the loft area of the cabin was really warm, even with the fan going. I would not hesitate to book this little cabin again.
