A wonderful place to stay

There were seven of us who stayed at Casa Allegria. It is a wonderful place in a local neighborhood well located to walk to restaurants. One restaurant, just 1/2 block away, was great for breakfast and was called LaPerla Negra. We would stay there again if we return to Zihau. We all loved the pool and appreciated the daily pool check and cleaning. Pietro the owner and Silvia the local hostess were very responsive to our needs and even supplied the phone numbers for local cabs etc. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Enjoy your stay my family and I did.

Perfect holiday retreat!

This home was the perfect retreat for us. It was a bit off the beaten path which we liked but still within walking distance to beaches, town, and restaurants. The home itself was lovely, private, and we enjoyed relaxing on the veranda and swimming in the pool. The host was super responsive and helpful with suggestions. We loved it here and hope we get to stay here again.

Perfect home close to everything

The house was nicely furnished and the owner very friendly. We had two children with us that loved the pool. We were always out so we only seen the pool guy once but he was really nice and gave us food recommendations. Zihuatinejo can be hot so make sure to pack summer clothes. When arriving, Pietros housekeeping had water for us which was perfect since we were really thirsty. Theres a convenience store two blocks away to stock up on snacks and drinks. We rented a car and the house is located minutes from beach and minutes from city dining areas. Exiting the house to the right there's an excellent breakfast restaurant with owners that used to live in S California (our home). A street away there's a good burger spot. Best pizzas in town are 2 blocks away. If you google it I'm sure it'll come up fast. Safe house but like the rest of Mexico I dont recommend walking the streets past sunset. The owner Pietro was very informative and checked up on us in case we needing anything like extra cleaning or recommendations. Thank you Pietro for your hospitality! Best vacation ever!

I cannot praise this property, it's owner and his support staff highly enough! The home itself is spectacular, and Pietro respinded like a family member towhatever we needed, whenever we contacted him. He described zhiuatenejo as magical, and he was right! I will be returning one day for sure.

Beautiful house in Dario Galeana!

The house is beautiful and has more room than we thought. Four bedrooms upstairs and 3 bathrooms with showers. Pietro was magnificent regarding his communication and availability. Silvia is also a fantastic cook for the times you may not want to. Kitchen is fully stocked and there is also a charcoal grill by the pool. It is an easy walk to Zihuatanejo Centro. Less than 10 minutes. Within 5 minutes of a pharmacy, a corner grocery , great restaurants (La Perla Negra and Chukos and Lety’s), and a fantastic coffee shop (Boxha) that also serves food and cocktails. You can also walk to Playa la Madera in 15 minutes. There are abundant taxis cruising by during the day to take you to Playa la Ropa and Ixtapa. You should bring earplugs because, being in a local neighborhood, dogs bark at unpredictable hours at night, there are lots of roosters who get started early, and there are occasional parties that last until the wee hours. Also would have been helpful to have a handbook at the house with information about taxis, restaurants, etc. Small things to help make this great experience even better. Gracias Pietro!

Ok

The house itself is beautiful. Property is big, decent size pool. Close by to almost everything we needed, restaurants, Oxxo stores, pharmacy, and most important the beach. La perla negra restaurant which is literally at a walking distance from the house was absolutely great. Highly recommend for breakfast. The house was great, clean when we arrived, can’t say much about the staff because they never went/showed up all but the first day we arrived. According to the owner the house would be cleaned every other day and not once did they show up from the 7 days we stayed there. Kinda sucks when they’re charging so much and extra for cleaning services and it doesn’t get done. Overall it was great, washer, refrigerator, stove, all rooms with AC and most important…..WI-FI and NETFLIX were included.

It's hard to say anything other reviewers haven't already said, so let me just say what everyone says is true. Don't hesitate to book this place. Pietro is great, Silvia is great, the house is great. You will be staying in the more "neighborhood"-y part of Zihuatanejo which for us was a total plus, but you are a super close walk to "downtown", Playa Madera, Playa La Ropa, etc... A/C in all rooms. Fully stocked kitchen (this is a real plus compared to other places we have stayed). The pool was a huge hit with the kids. Just really everything was perfect - just book it.

This house is an excellent choice for your trip to Zihua!

I wish I could give this house and owner more than 5 stars. When we stayed here, we got more than a beautiful house to stay in for our 2 week trip. It was well equipped and spacious for our family of 4. Our 2 kids (age 16 and 11) loved the pool and their rooms. Pietro, the owner, checks in with you a long the way to help you enjoy your trip if needed. He is a wealth of information and resources about the area. Silvia and Eduardo come by to keep the house and grounds clean and running smoothly. Silvia can come cook for you at an extra cost if you want, but we didn't take advantage of that on this trip....we were enjoying the local restaurants too much. Pietro connected us with 2 brothers (Noel and David of Dia Perfecto boats) who captain small boats to go fishing and snorkeling. They were great! I highly recommend that you have them take you out on the water, especially snorkeling. I know that I mentioned the owner, Pietro, already, but he was so great that he's worth mentioning again. I've never had a host be so helpful. He has a binder in the house that is full of great information about restaurants, beaches, things to do, etc. However, he is also available through Whatsapp to help you with anything. We mostly walked everywhere from the house, but sometimes we wanted to go further than walking distance. We didn't want to rent a car so Pietro connected us with Martin, who drives taxi. Martin was a great help and always there when we needed him. Our favorite beach was Playa La Ropa and our favorite hang out was La Perla. Easily walk-able from the house-- about 20 min walk over a small hill with great views. Coming back from the beach and dipping in the pool was delightful. Lastly, the people of Zihuatanejo were genuinely kind and helpful. In such a heavy tourist town, it could be easy for the locals to become resentful of all the people rotating through, but there was never a hint of that. Instead we found the people to be incredibly helpful. It is clear that the locals want people to love the area as much as they do. In summary, you can't go wrong with this house or this destination. I hope you visit and enjoy.

Casa Allegria is exactly as the pictures show. It met our expectations and didn’t disappoint.

Casa Allegria is exactly as the pictures show. It more than met our expectations and did not disappoint. Clean and well kept it was a great place to call home during our stay in Zihua. The property is very safe and secure and is located within easy walking distance to beaches, restaurants and downtown. After a long day of travel we were greeted by the housekeeper, Silvia, who for a small fee, had cold cervesas waiting for us. Pietro also provides some basic supplies so there was no need to quickly run to the store. Very nice, much appreciated, touches! With 4 bedrooms and 3 & 1/2 baths there was plenty of room for our family to spread out. For our time spent “at home” we always gathered in the spacious outdoor area, either in the pool or just relaxing. The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utensils. There is a large 6 burner stove as well as an outdoor bar-b-que, both of which we used to prepare the fresh ingredients purchased at the Mercado Municipal. One housekeeping was included with our two week stay and Silvia did a great job cleaning, changing the beds and washing the plentiful supply of towels. Pietro is, by far, the best owner we have ever rented from! There is a binder in the house which he has filled with tips on beaches and restaurants and anything else you might want to know. His personal recommendation for a fishing captain proved to be excellent with 2 very successful fishing expeditions for us! He was always very quick to respond to any questions we had and even made the arrangements for the fishing and taxis. Very helpful since our Spanish does not go much beyond Hola and Gracias! We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Allegria to anyone and hope that we are able to return one day soon. Thank you Pietro!

My home away from home.

There is so much about this home that we like. I hope I don't forget all the good points. *The location is perfect, away from the crowds and noise yet close to downtown Zihuatanejo, Madera beach, and the big supermarket (Mega Soriana). All walkable distances. There are no beach views from the house, but that is a minor point. *The pictures of the house are accurate and it even looks better in person. *The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, coffee maker, blender, toaster, and gadgets if you want to cook at home. If anything is missing, it's a dishwasher. (We all shared in washing dishes!) *Every room has a permanent ceiling fan and each bedroom has an AC unit. Oh man, the AC was welcome at the end of the day! *All the bathrooms are nice and functional with large showers in three of them. *All the beds were comfortable (no complaints from anyone in our party) *The house was clean and tidy when we arrived. House cleaning, once a week is included along with someone to maintain the swimming pool. (Super good) *We stayed for the full month of November 2018, and any issues we had, were quickly resolved by the caretaker Sylvia, or Pietro the owner. *The neighborhood around the house was very peaceful and the neighbors were very cordial. Walk to any corner to catch a cab; cheap and plentiful. *The owner...Pietro quickly responded to any question through text or phone call as it arose. He was super. Pietro also provided one of the most concise guide books we have ever encountered in a HomeAway house. Doctors, Dentists, beaches to visit and of course restaurant references. In short, we loved the house. We are already making plans to return.

Big, lovely house in residential Zihua - perfect base for our large family to relax and explore!

Pietro's house was a great base for us to relax and explore Zihua and surrounds. 3 large bedrooms and one smaller one with bunks - all with A/C and lots of space for us all to fit it (grandparents and 3 kids included!). The pool was fantastic - just note it is not fenced so you need to be careful with toddlers. Very well-equipped kitchen and lots of space inside and out for relaxing, reading etc. Great local restaurants nearby within a few minutes walk, and a super-handy convenience store around the corner. With the young kids in strollers/prams it took us less than 10 minutes to walk to Playa La Madera. Slightly longer walk up over the hill to Playa La Ropa (we taxied back with the kids). 15 - 20 min walk into town - or a short bus or taxi ride away. We used the local bus to get to and from Ixtapa easily. Pietro had left a lot of information on things to do, restaurants etc. and contacts for taxis which was fantastic! Silvia was very attentive and helpful with anything we needed (including a potty!) - thanks! Would stay again if we were holidaying in Zihua. Well recommended!

Perfect house for rest and relaxation. The location was ideal for the proximity to beaches and shops

We had such a great time at this house. There were many great napping and lounge spots as well a soaking pool. The bedrooms all had airconditioning and comfortable matresses for resting easy. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals together. We hope to rent this house in December this year.

Perfect House!

We stayed in Casa Allegria for a week with our two kids and my father. The house was perfect for all of us with plenty of room. Everything was very clean and tidy and well taken care of. The bedrooms were all good sizes and all had air conditioning. The pool in the back was very clean (the pool guy came several times during our stay) and the kids spent a lot of time in there. The 'deep' end is only around 5' so it was great for my father as well who doesn't know how to swim. When we arrived we were met by Silvia who for a small price can have fresh guacomole and pico de gallo waiting for you as well as cold beer for the adults and horchata for the kids. Thank you Pietro for offering this. After a long day of travelling it was so nice to have these things when we arrived. We also hired Silvia to cook for us one night and the food was delicious so we highly recommend this as well. The house is located about a 15 minute walk from downtown Zihautanejo, in an area with lots of little convenience stores and restaurants. We ate delicious tacos almost every day from the places just across the street where they make the tortillas as you order so all of the food is very fresh. Pietro arranged a day with a local captain (Luis) for us. Luis first took us fishing before ending up on a little Island across from Ixtapa (called Isla Ixtapa) on which we ate the blackfin Tuna we caught, played on the beach, and snorkeled along the reef behind the island. We loved that so much that we hired Luis for a second day of deep sea fishing where we managed to catch a sailfish that must have weighed 80lbs! Martine, the taxi driver was very helpful as well. He arranged our transportation for our excursions and our trip back to the airport. We just hailed a taxi for the trips to the beach and into town. The other taxi drivers were very friendly but they spoke very little to no English so a few words of Spanish were very helpful. We spent two full days at the beach (Playa la Ropa) where you can rent chairs/umbrellas and spend the day relaxing. This beach was great for the kids as there's no dropoff, the water is warm and the waves aren't too big. I recommend going during the week as it's less busy. Pietro was the best host, very friendly and checked in several times during our stay and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. This was the most relaxing vacation and we will be back. Thanks Pietro!

Beautiful House

This is a wonderful accommodation in a safe, friendly Mexican neighbourhood well-located within walking distance to most everywhere. The six of us who rented the house had lots of room to relax, the bedrooms were very comfortable, and the covered patio area and pool are absolutely wonderful. The house is beautifully finished with high quality furniture, nicely tiled, and lovely decorations. Of all the places I have rented in Mexico over the years, this is by far the best equipped I have ever been in. The kitchen and dining area have everything one could ever need – lots of dishes, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans, and many extras other rental places don’t usually include. It was nice having a large washing machine and we loved the smell of our clothes after drying on the clothesline! The house is in a flat area, only about a 10-15 minute walk to Playa Madera, Playa La Ropa, Centro, and the big supermarket, Commercial. The corner store a block away was really handy for almost anything from freshly baked buns to cold beer and ice. Pietro was very helpful and called occasionally to be sure everything was fine. If one had a problem or a question, it was easy to contact him from the land line in the house. The guide book he has put together with hints and directions regarding tours, restaurants, etc. is very helpful. We loved our month at Casa Allegria and have already booked to come back next year!

Great house - beware of Joel

The pros: The house is great: clean and well-kept with good quality furniture. The beds are comfortable, high-end mattresses. Pietro was a very pleasant and helpful host, and went out of his way to help every time we had an issue. I highly recommend reading the guide he left behind with all the restaurant reviews and tips on what to see and do around Zihua. The kitchen is very well equipped, good quality equipment, sharp knives, lots of cutlery and pots. Shower pressure in the bathrooms is great. The pool is clean and pleasant, the poolboy came twice in one week. The back patio is ideal for relaxation. The housekeeper is nice, cheerful and does a great job. The cons: The location of the house is not ideal, but this is reflected in the very fair price Pietro charges for the house. The beach is a 15-20 minute walk, the giant supermarket (Comercial) is 10 minutes away. Taxis are frequent and will take you to the beach for 40 pesos. The only negative thing I can say about the house is, that it is sorely lacking mosquito nets on the windows. Every morning we were eaten alive. Apply mosquito repellent to your ankles before you have breakfast, or you will have 15 bites within ten minutes. Thankfully they don't bite over the knee. The warning: Beware of Joel, the taxi driver who is sorta attached to the house, who will try to "help" you. He is a crook, a liar and a cheat. We agreed that his wife would cook a 3 course surprise birthday lunch for my wife for a fix (but relatively high) amount. They turned up with one less course than agreed, without any explanation whatsoever to what happened to one of the mains, and tried to charge 200 pesos more for ingredient costs, even though it was agreed in writing (over texts) that ingredients were included. The food was very nice but the mood was rotten. Previously the same day he sold us a canoe trip for a 25% markup over the fix price, and tried to convince us to go on a boat trip for 50% more than the fixed price of the fisherman's collective.

Magnificent house in a unassuming neighbourhood

Our family of 4 had more than enough space. Because we love to cook we found the spacious, well equipped kitchen to be a fantastic bonus. The villa-like home is beautifully tiled and well kept, with ample space to relax both inside and out within its walled perimeter. The sleeping areas are air conditioned and there are several balconies. Small shops are available within the block, and the beach is actually very close. Zihuantenejo downtown is also quite close. For touring one can just hail a a very affordable taxi at the corner and travel to more distant beaches or marketplaces. In the neighbourhood, being able to speak some Spanish is useful, but in the tourist areas, in town, in most establishments, people speak English. If you love food, there are so many restaurants with superb food, and beachside eateries where you can bask, swim and feast. We loved every day and hope to return. Thanks Pietro!

Beautiful Mexican house!. The decorations, style, pool, rooms, kitchen… everything was wonderful. We had a peaceful & beautiful vacation. The outdoor grill and outside dining area was perfect, we spent the evenings eating and watching everyone having fun in the pool. Fresh tortillas just in the corner. The beaches and market also at a short distance. Beautiful view from the balcony and the house surroundings. Friendly staff welcoming us and arranging taxi transportation and activities. Gracias!

wha a great place to spend a holiday.

The house was beautiful. The pool was excellent and welcome after a walk. The beaches are a short walk. The market, a short walk. Great restaurants abound within walking distance. The support staff insured that the house was always clean and well maintained. The service provided to go touring, fishing and site seeing was terrific. We recommend this home highly, except in February, because we plan on booking again. Definitely a FOUR STAR stay.

Great property and location

We stayed for 9 nights at this property and were extremely satisfied. The house had all of the amenities our group needed and the neighborhood was a perfect location. There was a small store just around the corner that had everything we needed and everyone was helpful and friendly. Walking distance to restaurants, the beach, walking paths and centro. Can also easily hop on the local transit. Lalo looked after the pool and was fantastic and easy to communicate with. Pietro was also amazing and always kept in contact to ensure everything was great during our vacation. I would highly recommend Casa Allegra and will stay again in the future!
