4X4 needed

Very happy with our stay. Had a few minor questions and Kenyata was on top of it. Beautiful area and cabin. You do need a 4 wheel drive to get to property. Secluded and quiet.

Family getaway

This cabin was beautiful and very clean. The "road" to the cabin could definitely use more stone. It was extremely bumpy and the steap hill way pretty rough full of pot holes. We didn't mind driving thru the creek but the one part was hard to not scrape even in my SUV. I will say tho, I was disappointed that the cabin was listed as a 4 bedroom. But there was no true 4th bedroom. They count the movie room with the pull out couch as the 4th bedroom. That mattress was not very comfy so my son just slept on the couch upstairs. Also, my only other complaint is how cold the house was. Even with the heater on as high as it would go, the dining room/ kitchen was pretty chilly and the downstairs by the pool table was very cold. Over all the cabin was very nice and the area was quiet. Nice and relaxing to get away.

Girls Weekend Getaway

The property has a LOT of pros, as outlined in the online description. ( Loved the Pac-Man and pool table, and comfortable upstairs tv room.) The cons for us were as follows: 1) we are all mid 60’s and the steep stairs going up to TV room and down to basement were taxing. 2) There was zero signage letting us know when we turned onto Cable Rd how to get to the cabin. And it’s tucked way back in there. We had to stop along the way and ask 2 people. 3) New (sleeping/head) pillows for the beds would be a great investment for the owners. The ones currently are way too flat. 4) more clothes hangers would be a plus, too, as there are no drawers to unpack anything and little shelving. 5) a shelf in the basement bathroom would be very helpful to put toiletry bags. 6) Lastlt, we were under the impression there were 4 BEDROOMS, as stated online. There are actually only 3 bedrooms with additional space available for sleeping in the two tv areas on the couches.

Weekend in Kentucky

Fantastic place— wish I could have stayed the week. Two things: when they mention vehicle suggestions, they mean it ! The second hill is ok for AWD and such but I wouldn’t attempt in anything low clearance. Also, some minor cleaning products (more dish towels, etc. ) would be helpful. Brilliant place to be though!

4 Wheel drive is a MUST!

The cabin was beautiful and we had the best time. There are not many towels/ washcloths/ dish towels and there are no cleaning supplies trash bags/dish pods/shampoo. Unlike other places we have stayed, the on hand supplies were very sparse. There are plenty of board games and a nice air mattress. The home is very clean and new construction. It was pretty easy to get to but the turn onto Cable Ln is SHARP! For us getting to the cabin was manageable. However, our front wheel drive SUV drug at the second “creek”. I would imagine it would be very difficult/ impossible to cross either creek with high water levels or snow. (Ask the host for pictures prior to arriving) 🚩🚩🚩🚩HUGE red flag coming🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 The biggest issue came trying to get back up the massive hill (just after the four way stop). We thought we were going to have to call a tow truck because the gravel road was very dug out from other cars trying to get up and the hill is very steep. Luckily, we had a friend with a truck that was able to help us. After MANY failed attempts, we finally made it up the hill the first day and never went back down. There is a side road you could park at once you get to the four way stop. However, it would be a tough walk to the cabin and back if you don’t have someone staying with you with 4 wheel drive. **I do not know if that is private property or if parking there is even allowed. We did it out of desperation and fear of not being able to get up the hill again.**

Hidden Gem

This property is nestled in nicely in a secluded part of the woods. Not only is the cabin amazing to stay in with plenty of space for a large group (very kid friendly) the property itself is beautiful to get out and explore. If you don’t feel like hiking the trails to some of the nearby look out points don’t worry, just take a short walk down the hill behind the cabin and you will find yourself overlooking a limestone rock faced gorge and a pleasant little waterfall! Check in was a breeze and you can’t be the price for what you get with this property. The host was very responsive and very accommodating for anything we could have possibly needed! We will absolutely be coming back! There’s not enough stars to rate this place.

Birthday Trip

The property was beautiful and secluded! The house had lots of things to do the game room was great. Only Down fall was getting to the cabin, very off roading feeling. We had 2 suv and a car and when they say you go thru a creek they mean it. Then you go through another spot where you completely bottom out, I cracked my front end going in and out. I don’t think this has anything to do with the house I just think it’s undeveloped and tons of loose gravel to where you spin out. My advice to anyone who stays don’t bring a car, also very tight roads hen someone else comes you have to back down a graveled road. All in all a good trip :)

Remote beauty

This is a recently built cabin designed for a resort experience. With a hot tub, a pool table, movie room, generous couches, and spacious deck. One morning I was able to identify over 12 bird species in less than an hour while reading. Our family of 7 adults had enough space for sleeping, and the Red River Gorge area has an abundance of delights. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? Two reasons, one minor and one major. The cabin seemed to be short on the details. No spices in the kitchen, no soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. This felt like a new construction that no one has ever lived in. Not a hotel and far from a "shared family home" we've experienced with many VRBO places. The biggest issue is the location. The directions were inadequate and both of our vehicles took wrong turns trying to follow them. The owner warns "4-wheel drive is recommended". That should be "high clearance 4-wheel drive is mandatory". I expect that the road will be impassable in winter or after a rain. One local told me he wouldn't take his truck down that road, and the very steep gravel path was terrifying for one of our drivers. This is beautiful cabin and highly recommended -- if you're equipped for an adventure.

Close to everything and very secluded.

We just returned from a 3 day weekend and had a blast. Myself and 4 kids (18,15, 8,7) loved this spot. Plenty of things to keep the kids occupied after a long day hiking. We all had a blast battling on the arcade games, playing giant Connect 4, billiards, and cuddling on the couches in the movie room. The hot tub was all we could think of on our drive home from hiking and it was a welcome relief. The scenery from the back decks is everything you could hope for. We enjoyed cooking on the charcoal grill and making s’mores in the fire pit and even a little light rain didn’t ruin our outdoor time as the fire pit is shielded by large hemlock trees. My 8 year old son and I even ventured down the steep hill to check out the waterfall. BE CAREFUL and stay to the right as you descend because their a 30’ sheer cliff at the back of the property, but from the creek bed bed it opens up into your own private gorge. 4 wheel drive is HIGHLY (I repeat HIGHLY recommended to access this property), however, I did catch a glimpse of a Toyota Camry driving past the property to another property down the gravel road. Loved this place!!! (I never write reviews but this one earned it).
