About this property

In Roussillon Village a private home with a small basin and a fantastic view

The Villa Rouge is located in the heart of the village, right next to the Main square and the many restaurants and cafés, galleries and shops. Everything you need is just a short-walk away : the bakery, butcher, supermarket, tobacco store, post-office, doctor and chemist’s store. Luberon offers you the best of Provence : a sweet climate, many cultural sites to visit, as well as an authentic nature, delicious local products, and a craftsmanship to discover.
The Villa was built in 1849, in the typical architecture of Luberon. Perched on the hill-top, you’ll benefit from an exceptional panoramic view on the Mont Ventoux, the famous mountain in the French artist Paul Cezanne’s paintings, as well as on the plateau of Vaucluse, the ochre quarries and surrounding vineyards.
Its decor, inspired by Provençal style, is authentic and sophisticated, and offers great comfort. The villa has 3 rooms, one of them a Suite. Each room has a bathroom (a shower for both rooms and a bathtub for the Suite). The vast lounge of 60m² is very bright and perfect to relax in. You can browse through the books put at your disposal. There is WIFI connection, Apple TV, Sonos system for your device to play music, games and books.
The house revolves around its “cathedral” kitchen, fully equipped. Located on the ground floor, it has an incredible view on the surroundings. You can welcome there a dozen of guests, and make of it the highlight of your culinary and wine delights.
Outside, there is a big patio, decorated with flowers and plants. Two pergolas allow you to have lunch or rest in the shade. You can also cool in the stone pool, warmed if necessary for a supplemental fee (4m x 4m). It is equipped with an alarm.
You may have at your disposal a garage to park one car. You have a laundry with a washing machine, a dryer and a washing line.
The house offers the perfect combination to guarantee you an unforgettable stay in the Luberon : a perfect location in a mythical village.

Fabulous

This was our second visit to Villa Rouge. We shared the house with two couples who enjoyed it as much as we did. Plenty of space for privacy as well as shared space to gather and have fun. Loved the location close to restaurants and everything that the village has to offer. Hope to return one day

Excellent la villa Rouge

Staying at this property in Roussillon (ID 4025757) was a fantastic experience. The standard of accommodation is very good, the location is great and the town is a fun place to be. The accommodation is fresh and clean with an ensuite for each room, a large lounge area and very good indoor and outdoor dining. The people who met us and ensured we were settled were very helpful and great to talk to. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and we will return.

Wonderful villa in perfect location

We had a fantastic stay in Villa Rouge this summer. The villa is well placed in a central location with lovely restaurants and shops close by. This was perfect for us with a young daughter as no need to be getting in and out of the car each day. The reception from the villa management team was very warm and welcoming so we felt in good hands for the week. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future!

Highly recommend

Great property! My wife and I were looking for a peaceful place to unwind between work assignments, and this was it. Wonderful location, nice to have a garage for the rental car, and the terrace and pool were a wonderful place to rest. Great access to town and other towns in the region. Each of the bedrooms has air-conditioning which was very nice. And finally, the owner's representative Sophie was extremely helpful! Enjoy

Wonderful house that needs some fixes

Wonderful, spacious house with lots of room and a large kitchen/dining room and living room. We appreciated the games and kids books, the comfortable beds and great communication with the property managers. Ideal location with a 2 minute walk into town and short drives to other villages. However, the house obviously needs investments in plumbing upgrades. One toilet wasn't working the day after we arrived & another stopped working the day before we left. Water leaked from a bathroom faucet around a sink that needed caulking, onto the shelf below. The kitchen faucet also needed some fixing. The garage door has no sensor & started to close on the car being parked. In spite of these frustrations, we really enjoyed our stay. Rousillon is lovely & the nearby Ochre trail hike stunning,

Great location! Great accommodation!

Charming, spacious, well furnished authentic villa built in 1849 with just the right amount of updates to still retain it’s character; ample space inside and outside for entertaining and hanging out with friends or family. Great location just steps from restaurants, boulangerie, well-stocked grocery store.

The most magnificent stay you will ever have

I am convinced this rustic, warm, charming apartment is one of our best rentals in the Provence. Having stayed many places in the area, this so apartment is by far my favourite to date. While Roussillon can be busy and the location is central, the apartment is quiet, tucked away from the noise of tourists and a quiet retreat. The ultimate way to feel a part of a french village, but still have privacy.

Beautiful stay in the French countryside

Our stay could not have been better! The property was clean, well equipped and suited our needs perfectly. The most pleasing thing is that the property truly was “as advertised”. The description of the property, location and photos do not do it justice. The owner and property managers were wonderful to work with. I cannot recommend this property more highly! Thank you so much!

I watched the sun come up every morning from the beautiful patio! We had wonderful meals on the patio from food at the local markets “Provençal”. We lived visiting all the area villages. We ended our wonderful trip with dinner at Restaurant David. We hope to come back!

Perfect home for us

This charming house is steps from everything you want to do in Russillon . We so enjoyed the patio overlooking the valley and the mountains and the spacious living room where we gathered at night after supper. The kitchen is well stocked and the bedrooms and bathrooms are excellent. The house is located very close to an excellent butcher, several gelato stands and a great bakery. There is a small supermarket as well with an easy walking distance. There are small restaurants all around the town. There is a peace about this house which is hard to describe - and we loved every minute of our stay there.

Wonderful, spacious house with beautiful views

Our party of three sixty year old women enjoyed this house, each of us had our own bedroom and bathroom which was a treat. The views from all the living room windows as well as from the patio was stunning. The town was cute with some fun shops. Our restaurant experience was not as good because there seemed no rhyme or reason when restaurants were open. The second night there literally we could find no other restaurant open other than the place we ate the night before. We made daily use of the bakery, the cemetery is worth a visit which is right next to the ochre trail which is a must. We had lunch in Gordes which we enjoyed. The only thing that was a bit of a surprise is the house is multi level and the walk around the town may be difficult if you have any mobility issues. We had a car which we parked in the garage but that was tight. The driveway because of the steepness was not useable. We had COVID tests taken at the pharmacy in the village which was super convenient. My suggestion on arrival is to park in the center of town where there is a parking lot and have someone meet you and take you to the house. Our gps could not find the house and after a drive to nowhere we finally decided to do that. We also really enjoyed the Thursday market in the heart of the village. Everyone associated with the property was very responsible, kind and helpful.

Exceptional villa, location and host for a true Provençal experience

Lovely historic villa updated in all the right places. Charming, well suited for our 3 couples. Beautiful views, patio, pool made our alfresco dining a highlight. Kitchen well stocked w basic ingredients and cooking equipment. Beds and linens top notch. Well appointed furnishings. Plenty of space to stretch out, read, even do yoga on the covered pool deck- what a glorious way to begin a day! Villa Rouge is ideally located in Roussillon. Stunning views, convenient to shops, cafes, bakery, butcher, etc. This is the most authentic hilltop village as folks still live here. Tourists arrive after 10 and leave by 4/5pm so plenty of time to enjoy the charm and quiet beauty of the village . Excellent boulangerie (esp their pastries and pizza), Chez David is 4* and Cafe Couleurs tasty and well priced. Easy access to other Luberon villages and their markets . Roussillon market on Thursday is great. Marion is the best hostess: timely & thoughtful replies, suggestions, willing to make everything perfect for our family holiday. I strongly recommend Villa Rouge for couples or families looking for an authentic, convenient and lovely, comfortable holiday in a charming, beautiful home of Provence. Our family would gladly return!

Absolutely fabulous!

We were a group of two couples who absolutely loved staying at this wonderful house & visiting the beautifully exquisite town of Roussillon! The house has gorgeous views, comfortable furnishings, & a well-stocked kitchen. We especially loved the location of the house... just steps away from the village & its shops, bakeries, markets & restaurants. The ochre mountains that surround the village are breathtaking to see & shouldn't be missed. Overall, a piece of paradise we'd highly recommend!!!

Wonderful, spacious, perfectly located home

If you want to get a taste of life in the gorgeous village of Rousillon, the Villa Rouge is an ideal choice. This home is centrally located, a few steps away from a main town square filled with shops and restaurants, cafes. The house also had a fantastic courtyard and pool with stunning views of the Ochre cliffs and nearby mountains. The pictures of the home simply do not do justice to this stunning home and setting. The house itself perfectly met our needs, as did the gracious welcome and hospitality bestowed on us by the owner and her hostess. We hope to return one day to this spectacular property.

Why they chose this property

The village of Roussillon is one of the most beautiful of France and the second most visited in the Luberon after the village of Gordes. With its festival of ochre colors and hill-top position, it is one of Provence’s jewels. It is hard to depict the true splendor of Roussillon. 17 shades of ochre paint the village’s houses. Imagine the amazing contrast with the green pines, blue sky and red cliffs… Roussillon, with its history, vineyards and unique location, is the French savoir-vivre at its best. In the region of Provence, between the mountains of the Luberon and the Vaucluse, Roussillon sparkles with ochred light. Discover this unique mineral treasure of surprising blazing colors, right in the heart of the world’s most important ochre deposit.

What makes this property unique

To visit : the XIth century parochial church Saint Michel, the tower of the ancient ramparts, with a gothic passage and XIXth century bell tower, Saint Jean castle, the mill, the Ochre and Applied Pigments Conservatory located in a former ochre manufacture. Recommended activities : the ochre trail (entrance fee) will lead you to the 'Giants' Causeway', walking through natural chimneys and several majestic sites carved by water, wind and man. Provençal market : Thursday morning. Festivities : the Ochre Day celebrations on Ascension Day. Traditional cow feria on the last sunday of July. International festival of string quartets in the summer. Illumination of the cliffs during the summer.
