About this property

Private, Modern Log Cabin @ The Woodshed Lodge; Pet Friendly; Sleep 6

Spruce Cabin's structure and interior finishings are all hand-built from knotty Pine which allows for a traditional log cabin aesthetic. The square-milled, insulated tongue & groove construction presents a rustic feel, with modern efficiency and cold-climate performance. The cabin is heated and cooled via two electric heat pumps (mini-splits). Stepping inside, the open floor plan provides a larger feeling of space than the tiny dimensions would suggest, with the living room being open to the kitchen and sleeping loft above. There is a double-sized convertible futon with a high quality mattress that comfortably sleeps two. A window-height table serves dual purposes as a dining table and work desk, as does the kitchen island/bar. A wood stove sits on a custom stone hearth for warmth and ambiance and a smart TV offers access to streaming entertainment. A stairwell from the living room leads to a low-ceiling sleeping loft with two twin mattresses to accommodate an adult couple or two children. Walking through the hallway from the living room, guests will find a full bathroom with stall shower to the right, and a large walk-through closet with washer & dryer on the left. Located at the end of the hallway is the master bedroom, featuring a queen-sized bed and a full sized dresser + chest of drawers. Outside, guests will enjoy the semi-enclosed 10x10 covered porch, an open deck/patio with firepit, along with full access to the 10-acre Woodshed Lodge property including the stream-fed pond and outdoor hot tub. Spruce Cabin comfortably sleeps two couples plus 1-2 children, or could accommodate up to three couples who are comfortable with sharing a small space and a hot water tank designed for 4. Cabin guests will always enjoy full access to the lawn, pond, and surrounding wooded property. Additionally they will often be offered limited access to main lodge building, dining room and hottub.

Great place nice and cozy

I had a great time it’s kinda far from anything but that’s the point of getting away we all had a good time. I appreciate all their understanding on checking out late. Will do it again for sure.

A Fantastic Getaway

Our stay at the Spruce Cabin @ Woodshed Lodge was the perfect weekend away. The tiny cabin was adorable, and came with all the necessary accoutrements (kitchen, heaters, tv, wood stove, fireplace, king size bed). The management team was incredibly attentive and kind, and went above and beyond in ensuring we had all we needed for a memorable experience. Thanks so much team, we will be back!

Could not have asked for a better place!

We were looking for a cabin stay for a little getaway and were thrilled with the Spruce Cabin! Walking in, it immediately smelled great and was so clean. We had great communication with the innkeepers who were so kind, helpful and thoughtful! The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the bed! There were extra little touches everywhere that made this a phenomenal experience! Owen and Haley were the innkeepers on site but I also spoke with Bill and everyone was great. Can’t wait to book again!

The Woodshed Lodge is a traditional inn and ski lodge. For over 70 years we have been the preferred establishment for those families, diehard skiers, back country adventurers, Long Trail hikers, and large groups who appreciate authentic Vermont charm and character. Modern and swank we are not, but we make up for it with authentically rustic charm plus everything you need and want for a mountain holiday. As owner/operators we pride ourselves on cleanliness, friendly service, and a quiet, laidback family vibe. Come see for yourself why we are one of the best-reviewed lodges in the Jay area.

Why they chose this property

The Woodshed Lodge is the closest independent lodging establishment to Jay Peak Resort, which sits just 3 miles/4 minutes up the hill on the same road. We are two minutes from the town of Jay where you find find a grocery store, liquor store, a fantastic restaurant & bar, a deli/cafe, gas station, and a ski shop. Montgomery Center is about a 12-15 min drive over the mountain and has a charming main street with several more aprés and dining options as well as a (slightly) larger grocery store. For bigger trips, the city of Newport is about 30 minutes away, Enosburg is about a 40 min drive, Burlington about 90 minutes, and Montreal about 2 hours. Burke Mountain and Stowe Mountain are each about a 55 minute drive from us. For hikers, we are 10 minutes from both the Terminus/Journey's End and the Long Trail crossing at Rt 242 aka 'Jay Pass'. *Call us about shuttle pickups from the Long Trail*

What makes this property unique

The Lodge is nestled amongst 25 acres of quiet woods just off of RT 242 / Mountain Road. We have a 6 acre lawn which hosts a serene stream-fed pond full of trout, frogs, salamanders, and the occasional turtle or river otter. There is a small dock on the pond which offers a relaxing place to sit and read or to cold-soak your tired legs. Wild blackberry and raspberry bushes abound and there are two mature apple trees - all of which we utilize in various breakfast offerings. A bubbling stream borders the yard and there are a couple of walking paths which are perfect for nature walks, bird watching, etc. On most nights you will find friendly guests (and owners!) grilling out on the patio, relaxing in the hot tub, gathering together around the smokeless fire pit, fishing in the trout pond, or helping the kids look for frogs and salamanders in the stream. If you keep your eyes peeled (and sometimes even if you don't!), you're likely to spot some of our local 'residents' including chipmunks, badgers, birds of prey, songbirds, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, moose, muskrats, foxes, skunks, beavers, deer, and black bears.
