Home away from Home

This was our third stay and we were once again delighted. Conveniently located to Lewes, Henlopen and one block from the beach. The home is spacious and comfortable. We will be returning again next year! Thank you to our gracious host Katharene for adding on the extra day at the last minute

Not a great start to your vacation when you are met with an unpleasant musty moldy odor.

It was rough dealing with the musty dank smell that permeated throughout the house. Sometimes it smelled a bit like sewage. Had to go out and buy a bunch of air fresheners. We kept the ceiling fans on as well as the floor fans on for air circulation. When we went to make the queen bed upstairs using our own linens, we saw that the mattress protector had several yellow stains on it. So, now we were doing laundry as soon as we arrive? The cleanliness of all the couches (upstairs and downstairs) was not great either, having many visible stains and grime. Covered them up with our own linens during our stay. The shag carpet upstairs was probably not a good idea either, especially for a pet friendly rental. We had high expectations but were sadly disappointed. Location : 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness and maintenance: 1 ⭐️

Weekend in September

Perfect place for family vacation with young children and grandparents. Walking to beach was easy and a trip to State Park was an added adventure with nature. House had great spaces and well equipped for cooking and beach outings. Helpful to have washer and dryer in the house .we’ll come again!

Kids first beach trip!

Some minor issues like closet off tracks and one door handle fell off but could be squeezed back on. The good? 1. Location is amazing for little kids! Short walk to beach! Perfect for what we wanted. 2. Upstairs had random games and toys that my three year old couldn’t get enough of. He kept requesting to go upstairs(him and I were on first floor) 3. Kids loved seeing random deer in neighborhood 4. Short drive into town to explore parks/ coffee shops. 5. My sister and her husband enjoyed the fire pit outside,we did not try the grill. 6. Outside shower is great for cleanup at the beach. We would definitely use this place again, and may next year.

Great summer getaway!

We stayed at the Turtle Shack for a long weekend to celebrate our children finishing their school year. It was a great location for two families. Each family has their own space and room to spread out. The playroom was stocked with awesome games and books which the kids loved. Being just steps to the beach was such a bonus. We will definitely bring bikes next time to be able to ride into town!

Grandma JuJu & Kevin's Vow Renewal

The Turtle Shack felt like home. It is very much a family and pet friendly vacation home near the bay in Lewis. We saw a doe and her fawn nursing in the backyard, a fox running along the dunes, dozens of conch shells, as well as a stingray on the beach. I would highly recommend this property for a family trip.

Great access to Bay.

The location is great. The house could use a deep cleaning. The fans had a noticeable amount of dust on the blades. The kitchen had good cookware, but not enough forks (only 6). And I saw mice turds in the laundry room. The owner/manager was prompt in her communication.

Just perfect!

Our stay was just great! The house is both spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked. We especially enjoyed the living space upstairs with comfortable seating and high ceilings, giving the room an even more spacious feel. Communication with the owner was easy and timely, both before we arrived and during our stay. Also great was the easy access to the beach— just steps away. The neighborhood is peaceful….and, being so close to downtown Lewes is very convenient.

Beach getaway

The beach was beautiful, quiet and the waves were calm. You can take a 15 min drive to Rohobeth Beach where the waves are much more powerful. Plenty of great restaurants and shopping nearby.

Great family friendly spot near beach and town!

Awesome house, much bigger than it looks! Well stocked, great communication, and flexibility. Little beach across the street is super kid friendly, pretty calm in the little cove. We loved all the games and toys! We had the best time.

Turtleshack summary

Air conditioning was great. Kitchen was stocked really well. But there were many small things that required either maintenance or us fixing them. Faucets that were stripped so no cold water in a bathroom sink, oven door continually falling apart so we couldn't use the oven, icemaker breaking, but that was fixed by a maintenance person. The house is great but just needs attention for things. Would rent it again if things were fixed

Perfect stay

The house was perfect for a family getaway. The location was great - just a few minutes from the beach. The kitchen was well-stocked and the playroom had plenty of toys for kids of all ages. The host was extremely responsive and provided great recommendations on area restaurants and attractions. We would definitely stay there again.

Christmas with the Family

We needed a place where we could have family come for Christmas dinner. The kitchen is huge and we could all fit around the dining table. Great place for family gatherings. The upstairs game room is huge and space enough for kids to hang out.

Loved the Turtle Shack!

We had an amazing stay at the Turtle Shack! The house was clean and well organized. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach/bay. We also enjoyed the firepit in the evening. The neighborhood is very quite and friendly. It is a wonderful house to rent to just relax with friends and family near the beach!

I do not have enough space to say how great this house is. My family had our best vacation trip at this owners home. Owner extremely helpful and very prompt when WiFi was out because of storm. Home is beautiful with many amenities. Cannot wait to come back.

We love Lewes! It is absolutely perfect for our family...and any family considering a beach vacation. This house is in the best part of Lewes Beach and has everything you need. We are only 3 houses from the beach and less than 1 mile to historic Lewes. Walk or bike to all the great shops and restaurants in town. The house is very large with a nice front yard. We work hard to make our home as comfortable as possible for our renters. We want you to love Lewes and our house!
