Great base for adventures

I stayed here with my staff - we put on an adventure race in Silver Lake State Park. The host was very responsive. The house was clean. Nothing was broken. It was great to have so many beds to cover our entire team. Plenty of parking too. We would stay here again and plan to when the race comes back here in a few years.

Good place that could be great with some TLC

Overall, we had a good time at Jon's place. Super convenient to the dunes entrance, quiet neighborhood, a quick walk to the little public access spot on Silver Lake. It's a big place that we shared with another young family of 4, 8 of us total with plenty of space. The water out back was a very shallow, mucky channel. We had to make the beds upon arrival which was unusual for a VRBO. The propety could use some overall updating and felt a bit dingy. Updating the indoor and outdoor furniture, kitchen wear and bath towels would go a long way for the overall feel of a rental at this price.

We had a great time staying here with friends of ours. Plenty of room and things to do for 4 adults and 5 kids. Quiet location yet walking distance to town and a short drive to the dunes and beautiful beaches. The owner was quick to respond when we needed something. Would recommend to others.

Great visit

The property suited us well. The grandkids had fun with the kayaks and peddle boat. The rooms were clean and it was easy to feel st home. Very centrally located but quiet.

It was OK

Positives: Great location, it was nice to kayak out to silver lake, and .5 mile walk to downtown silver lake. Host was very responsive. Negatives: House was dirty. Killed 4 spiders. Weeds growing out of gutters. Vents packed with dust, windows need cleaning, paint peeling in bathroom, dirty dining room chairs. There was a camera in the house - but it’s pointed outside to view out the window towards the driveway however it looks like it can spin around through remote control, unsure if it has audio. Instructions say to fold the comforters and leave them at the end of the beds, I don’t think they are being washed between guests. We brought a boat and the driveway has a negative grade, it was had to get the boat off the hitch, host provided us with some additional boards so I could get the trailer high enough to get it off the hitch.

4-generation family vacation. Memories made!

Beautiful, well kept property. Quiet. Very spacious. Adequate parking for our 2 boats as well as our group’s needs to come & go. (Multiple cars). Lots of room for lawn games & eating outside. Sand dunes a big hit. VERY HAPPY to see access to Silver Lake shoreline/Sand Dunes via a flat trail by the last cottage at end of road for only $5 per person round trip. Kids under 12 free. No more climbing over the dune to get there. This great-grandma is thrilled! As was the mom of 3 pre-schoolers. Lots of fun things to do. Mini golf, Craigs Cruisers, Mac Woods Dune Rides, Ice cream, campfire, swimming. Rock hunting just a short drive north to Summit Park. Would highly recommend this cottage & Silver Lake area for all ages. Owner easy to communicate with. Memories made that will last a lifetime.

House is great for large family. Close to dunes. Close to town. This was second year vacationing here and would come back again. Host is wonderful. Definitely recommend this rental .

PERFECT property!

My family had the best stay! The home was perfect. You can't beat the location and amenities. We especially loved being able to put our kayaks into the creek in the backyard and get all the way out to Silver Lake. Jon was gracious and super responsive. The home was clean and had great supplies. My dogs loved it as well. We will definitely be back! Thank you!!!

Great location

We had 7 adults stay here and there was more than enough space to sleep and hang out. The house is right on the canal that leads to Silver Lake. They had kyacks and a paddle boat to use. Lots of big fish in the canal if you like to fish. This house is super close to town and the dunes.We loved it so much we booked it for next year already!!

Prerunner invasion 2024 trip

Perfect location in a quiet sub. I would add we parked a 27' enclosed trailer in the drive no problem and were able to leave it hooked up as well as a ford raptor and probably had room for two or more trucks. We will defiantly be back this year!

Great Location for dunes

Stayed here with friends for some fall dune fun. Great location to lighthouse, beach and parks. Silver Lake Sand Dune State Park is right around the corner. We had a blast at the Dunes! Host was very accommodating. Looking forward to doing it again next year!

Great place for family stay!

We really enjoyed our stay, we had 10 in our group, it was enough room although the person on the futon had no privacy. Location was great, the kayaks and paddle boat were such a nice bonus that the kids really enjoyed. Owner was so accommodating to us and great communication. It was disappointing and surprising that we had to make our own beds. The pillows were absolutely terrible and made for not so great sleep, other than that, no complaints!

Wonderful location, many amenities!

Jon is a wonderful host. He is very responsive, helpful, and kind. The property is central to the dunes, downtown activities and shops, has access to the lake, yet is still quiet and peaceful. The home is large with many amenities, all the kitchen appliances you might need, comfy beds and seating, fun outdoor space, too. It was nice to have the added bonus of kayaks and a paddle boat. We also enjoyed the access to the pool and playground near Craig’s Cruisers. That was a big hit for our kids! We really couldn’t have asked for anything more in our stay! Thank you, Jon!

Hello. My name is Jon. My wife and I live in Grand Rapids, about an hour and half away from our cottage. We built this cottage for ourselves, as a vacation place to get away from Grand Rapids every now and then. We are excited to be able to rent the cottage out and allow others to experience the beauty of this area and the fun and excitement of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes and surrounding areas.

Why they chose this property

If you've been to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area before, you already know how amazing it is up here. If you haven't, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

From the inland lakes, to the beautiful Lake Michigan. There are the sand dunes, the restaurants, the light houses, and so much more. If you're anything like us, once you visit, you won't be able to get enough.

What makes this property unique

We purchased this land because we wanted lake access to Silver Lake and it was a prime location when it became available. And after a few years of sketching floor plans as a hobby, we finally had the one we wanted to build. I think you will appreciate the layout of the cottage, as well as the peaceful waterfront view.
