The Bosun's Chair is great for friends, couples, singles, or families. A light filled home with open concept first floor and 4 bedrooms upstairs. The 13 acre property is located on the Old Cabot Trail midway between Baddeck and Ingonish. The lower part of the property is a 300' wide stretch of private pebble beach.
The Bosun's Chair is 2 km from the scenic Englishtown Ferry and centrally located for visits to national parks. There are a number of local hiking trails, craft shops and artisan studios in the area.
The Bosun's Chair reflects the Nautical character of the owner - a Transport Canada certified Ship's Master and a Canadian Recreational Yacht Association certified sailing instructor.
Nestled on the shore of St. Ann's Bay, the Bosun's Chair has mountains in the backyard and a view of the ocean beach and Kelly's Mountain in the front yard.
There are 4 bedrooms upstairs in the older 'main' portion of the house, with 2 bathrooms - one upstairs (complete with jacuzzi tub) and one on the main floor adjacent to the front entry. All the downstairs floors are local hardwood. The upstairs floors are red pine, the ceilings are white pine.
Appliances include refrigerator, oven, microwave, washer and dryer. All bedding is supplied as well as all dishes, silverware, various kitchen utensils, coffee makers, pots, pans, etc. In short - just bring your own clothes!
The Captain, when he's not at sea, maintains a small apartment attached to the back of the main house (questions and concerns are dealt with promptly).
The Bosun's Chair is situated in an ocean-front rural setting. The nearest grocery store is in either the lovely village of Baddeck or in North Sydney - the mainland terminus for the Newfoundland ferry. Ditto for the nearest gas stations, so guests are advised to purchase foodstuffs and gasoline before arriving at the house.
