Beautiful place, very cosy and comfortable cottage

We spent a week in one of the cottages and we were absolutely delighted with it! The surrounding area is really heart-stoppingly beautiful... Dingle is our favourite place in Ireland and this particular spot is just incredibly wonderful. The cottage is also clean, comfortable and very cosy. The fireplace is great on a rainy day, the kitchen well-equipped and the washing machine and dryer very handy, too. Philomena and her daughter Sharon were very friendly, warm and welcoming and we definitely felt very much at home in this lovely cottage. Our boys (aged 7 and 10) also really loved the place. Our favourite trip was to Great Blasket Island - there is a ferry from Dunquin, just a 5-minute drive away - the boat trip was great fun, we saw lots of seals on the beach, had a nice walk and went on a guided tour of the village on Great Blasket. But we also enjoyed the walks from Suantra cottage very much and Clogher beach is very, very beautiful too. We cannot wait to come back to this lovely place - we are from Germany, so it's not quite 'around the corner', but we will try and be back as soon as possible...

Suantra Cottage, stay for family of 5

Cottage was cosy, clean and well fitted out. We had just the right amount of space for a family of two adults and three children. Great views from all around the cottage and a lovely loop walk starting just across the road takes in two nearby beaches. Philomena was very welcoming and happy to answer all of our queries and gave us useful local advice.

Week at Suantra Cottages

The house was perfect. Clean and comfortable, good WiFi and great views and good walking in any direction. Dingle is beautiful and this is a great spot to base a trip from. I I get back to Dingle for vacation I would definitely stay again. PS - An Canteen restaurant was incredible. I had lamb a dozen times during my trip and they had the best.

Cosy cottage with stunning view

The cottage was a wonderful cosy place in an area of outstanding natural beauty! It was well equipped and nicely furnished. We have had such a warm welcome when we arrived late in the evening: the oven has been lighted, the beds were pre-heated, lights were on and Sharon came along to ask if everything's ok in the cottage. She and Phil were so lovely and made great suggestions which places are recommendable to visit. We felt quite comfortable and had a gorgeous holiday.

Spectacular location!

Philomena is a gem! She was so warm and most helpful. She even drove us around to acquaint us with a bit of the area. The cottage was great - clean and cozy, and we loved the location. The views surrounding the cottage were gorgeous, and a beautiful beach was just a short walk away. One big plus is that The Slea Head Drive is nearby. This drive is spectacular - one of our favorite outings on the entire trip! We were very pleased with our stay in Suantra Cottage.

Suantrá cottages - we'll be back !

The property is small but has everything required of a base from which to explore the beauty of the area. It is clean, well-maintained and has all the facilities one needs. The location is fantastic looking out on beautiful Sybil Head and the Three Sisters. Clogher Beach is only a few hundred yards away and there are a number of nice walks in the area. Ballyferriter is nearby for shops, pubs etc and the Slea Head drive in on your doorstep. The owner is warm and friendly and could not do enough for us. We would highly recommend this property to a friend.

Great Place!!

Great place. A little bit far from Dingle, but I did not mind the drive for the for the great location and fair price. There are also places to eat and get groceries a short distance from the cottage. It slept our family of six with no problems. There are so many great things to do in the area, including a awesome beach on 600 meters from the cottage. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location

We loved the few days on the Dingle Peninsula. The location is just perfect: very close to the sea, quiet and nice trails for children. The cottage was clean and it is very well maintained. We can recommend the cottage for families with children.

Something special

They say that the most important consideration in buying a house is location and this is also true when planning a holiday. First of all the location is stunning. It is the most westerly point in Ireland and there is a certain mystique about the area. Clogher beach is a very short walk and it leads onto the Dingle Way. The owner Phil gave us some suggestions for other walks including the area where Ryan's Daughter was filmed. Other great locations nearby include The Great Blaskets, The Blasket Centre, Ventry and there are a variety of other beaches nearby. The house has everything you need. There are some nice restaurants nearby. Our favourites were Tigh Aine locally and The Goat Street Cafe in Dingle. Paid O Sheas pub in Ventry was a great place to watch the Katie Taylor fight. Dingle itself is one of the nicest towns in Ireland to visit, some great pubs and restaurants and it has great character. All in all a great holiday.

Suantrá Cottages, Clochar, Kerry

Suantrá Cottages are an excellent base from which to explore the beauty of west Dingle. Beaches, mountains and stunning wild countryside are all close by. Bhí mé ann le mo chlann agus rinne Phil gach rud dúinn chun am níos compordaí a dhéanamh. We've returned to the cottages a number of times and have always been very satisfied with everything provided. Go mbeirimid beo ag an am seo arís...chun fillead ar ais!

Fabulous!

This was a beautiful spot and the cottage had everything we needed. Dingle is about 20 minutes away. The scenery is just amazing. The cottage owner is a lovely lady and we felt very welcome. Can't go wrong with this!

Quiet and out of the way

We stayed at the cottages for 4 nights during a period of very windy weather. The cottage was clean and adequate in every way but quite basic. This would be a great location for anyone wanting to get away from it all and have a quiet few days. For anything else such as banks, shops, restaurants, internet access etc you need to travel the 20 mins to Dingle. The scenery from both the front and back of the cottage is truly spectacular and there is an isolated feel to the location. We did a section of the Dingle Way walk which is just across the road from the cottages. Phil greeted us on our arrival and was very warm and friendly.

"My" Suantra, by Patricia McAuliffe, San Diego, CA

For over ten years I have returned to Suantra Cottages, sometimes for a week, others for a month or two. There is no more perfect view than the one of the sea and cliffs from the front windows. Behind the windows, I am cozy and simply happy to be there. The view of the Famine Hills from the cottage’s rear reminds me of Ireland’s history. Though I always bring a car, I often leave it parked and explore all the wonderful nearby walks. Clogher Strand is a favorite of mine as is Louis Mulcahy’s shop. Climbing up Ceann Sratha with its vista of the Blaskets always satisfies my soul. At Suantra I work on my writing while watching bikers, hikers, and sometimes a herd of cows or sheep march by in the road. Irish television is a weakness of mine and I also love reading the books Phil stocks in the house. The kitchen quite fills my needs and I rarely eat out. The occasional visit from Phil, sometimes accompanied by homemade scones or freshly laid eggs is a lovely break in my days. Though I mostly travel on my own, I have welcomed many guests to stay in the two extra bedrooms over the years.

Anniversary weekend

This was our 4th stay with Phil My mother passed away last year on St Patrick's Day,so Jack ,myself and our 3 grown up children decided that we wanted to spend her first anniversary, since her passing in Dingle with Phil We had a night flight from Manchester ,picked up a hire car from Shannon airport and arrived in Dingle on 17/03 at 2.30 in the morning. The cottage was so warm and welcoming on our arrival, the beds were cosy and well aired ,we all just collapsed into them ,exhausted from our long journey.Phil left some food and drink in the fridge for our breakfast,it was very thoughful of her.As per usual she was round in the morning to check that we had arrived safely and if there was anything else that we needed Saturday was so hectic but we managed to cram in as much as possible, visiting all of my mother's favourite places. She so loved Smerwick, being one of 3 sisters herself and Clogher, both on Phil's doorstep. The scenery never fails to amaze or take your breath away,we were so blessed with the weather ,the sun shimmering on the sea throughout the weekend. We celebrated her life in a fitting manner in Dingle on Saturday night.Unfortunately all too soon we had to return home sunday afternoon. We cannot thank Phil enough for her kind hospitality and thoughtfulness. This place has a deep spiritual calling which will never leave all of us

Nice cottage with million dollar view

Last June was my third stay. Lots of space and well equiped cottage. Phil is so nice and helpful so nothing to worry about. For me fishing is one of the reasons to come to Dingle Peninsula but there is so much else to do and see in the area. Planning my next visit already.

Idyllic location with cottages to match

This the second year running we have stayed in the cottages. We love this part of the peninsula ,but it is still within a 15 minute drive to Dingle town itself We were met with a warm friendly welcome, asked if there was anything that we needed to make our stay more comfortable. The property was warm and clean, with all the necessary facilities required for a self catering holiday. We were asked if additional bedding or towels were required. Outside the cottages there are lovely long green lawns with views of the sea; ideal for all ages. Phil goes out of her way to ensure your stay is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The cottages are set in an area of outstanding beauty, the scenery is stunning with glorious sandy beaches ,one just a walk away and the area is steeped in history, but also with a living spoken irish language. There are wonderful coastal , hill and mountain walks on the door step . There are pubs within 2 miles for those who want to listen to traditional Irish music and to eat out. Come and see for yourselves, the scenery is breathtaking, the cottages ideal and the hospitality is warm and genuine

our little irish cottage by the sea

this property is a hidden gem. Warmly greeted by our host Brian, we settled in for a wonderful 3 days. The cottage was very well equipped for self catering, and the little fire each night kept us warm and cosy.. The views were sublime with unique scenery we would not have seen anywhere else. We enjoyed Dingle and the local village, and our drives along Slea Head Drive and Conor Pass. We would highly recommend this property.

Good Place to enjoy the Dingle Peninsula

We enjoyed staying here. It was easy to access the entire peninsula and a short drive to town. Owner was VERY nice and helpful. The cottage was clean and easily accessible. Only thing to note is the photos make it look very secluded which it is not. There are lots of other houses on either side of these ones. Still had great views to the front and back. Would definitely rent again! Thank you!

Very nice Location close to the sea

The house is simple and siutable decorated. We did not miss anything. The house can be heated with a stove and electrical heating systems. A bit special is the additional payment for electricity. The location is perfect, nice trails right next to the door. We would come again. Thanks to Phil and Brian.

The exploration of Dingle peninsula

We spend a nice week in the house and check in and out was easy and very kindly. We went on trips every day and have a good night in the house. Everything we need was there. As a suggestion, a game for the whole family would be nice. We forgot it, but the weather was fine to do things outside. Thanks for the week. Hagen and family
