About this property

Riverfront Log Cabin w/ Private Waterfall, Firepit & Panoramic Deck

Reconnect with nature and refresh your spirit at our charming riverfront log cabin, nestled in the serene mountains of North Carolina. With 3 cozy bedrooms—including a downstairs master suite and two spacious loft bedrooms—our cabin comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests, making it perfect for romantic getaways, small groups, or intimate family retreats.

Inside, enjoy a relaxing ambiance with a classic wood-burning furnace, central air and heat for comfort year-round, and high-speed Wi-Fi to keep you connected. The living area is stocked with books, a Smart TV with an old-school DVD player, and comfortable spaces ideal for unwinding after a day exploring the outdoors.

Step outside onto the panoramic deck overlooking your own private waterfall, an exceptional feature that provides the perfect backdrop for sipping morning coffee or stargazing at night. Enjoy the soothing sounds of cascading water, or gather around the firepit for memorable evenings roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. Relax in rocking chairs or the swinging couples' chair as you take in the peaceful, creekside atmosphere.

The cabin is perfectly positioned alongside the Reddies River, renowned locally for its stocked rainbow trout fishing—beginners and seasoned fisher alike find success here (locals recommend corn as bait!). While there are no official trails, guests love walking along the riverbank or exploring nearby gravel roads.

Our location offers easy access to notable attractions and events: grocery stores and restaurants (including our favorite local Mexican spot, Plaza Del Sol) are just 15-20 minutes away. Many guests book stays around local music festivals such as MerleFest, Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, and Carolina in the Fall Festival. You're also within easy reach of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Scott Kerr Lake, Appalachian Ski Resort (1 hour), Boone/Appalachian State University (45 minutes), Linville Caverns (1.5 hours), and Asheville's Biltmore Estate (2 hours).

We provide everything you need—including linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and a coffee machine—to ensure your stay is stress-free. Discover why guests return year after year for the ultimate getaway: relaxation, family bonding, and unforgettable connections with nature.

Note: Exterior security cameras are present on the property for added security. During winter months, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended due to potential snow and icy conditions.

Great Family Getaway

My family enjoyed this property immensely. A secluded cabin in the woods but with all the comforts of home made everyone happy. My husband enjoyed fishing in the river while the kid explored the shoreline and rock hunted. We made outdoor campfires and s’mores, and snuggled up by the indoor fireplace with books. Be aware it is a long driveway, so any plans out and about take a bit longer. The Food Lion in Millers Creek is about a 20 minute drive.

Excellent stay!

We had an excellent vacation in the cabin. The location and setting are extraordinary. The only issue was the difficult access road with our sedan.

Perfect location!!! Excellent stay!!!

Loved this property! Definitely plan on going back. The river is amazing. Super private and secluded. Shared the cabin with a few harmless bugs (moths and such) because it is solidly in the forest, but they never bit or were much of a bother. Great amenities and easy directions!

Beautiful hideaway!

The location is great! We were right next to the creek and got to walk along side and wade in the cool water. The inside was very nice and cozy so my friends and I were able to relax. The kitchen was very nice. Overall we had a very nice stay and would highly recommend this place! Just an fyi, the bedrooms on the upper floor don’t have doors, but they worked just fine for us.

Beautiful destination

We loved the creek in the back of the property. Our grandkids were able to play in it everyday and swim in the swimming hole. Lots of bugs, because you are surrounded by beautiful woods. The driveway is good, but treacherous if you are coming in late at night. It truly was a beautiful location to get away from it all.

Beautiful Oasis in the forest

We had a wonderful time refreshing in the woods. The road in is treacherous but well maintained and the cabin is lovely. We went for numerous walks on the property, spent a cozy day inside while Hurricane Debby whipped through and went for a beautiful hike at Rendezvous Mountain State Park. We loved hearing and playing in the river and found a bunch of critters during our stay. I wish there were actual hiking trails on the property, we just walked the roads because we didn't see any but it was still a great escape and not too far from town if you need something. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

So relaxing!

We had such an awesome week! It was everything we hoped it would be! The cabin is a good 8-10 minute drive from the road (the first gate) to the 2nd gate so take that time into consideration when venturing out because GPS doesn't factor it in. Our kids had a ball catching (and releasing) trout, creek walking, and just being lazy in the cabin. We also saw a family of wild turkey on the drive down from the house. Highly recommend and hope to enjoy this cabin again some time.

Peaceful place!!!!!

This place is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. The creek is next to the cabin, it’s amazing. The cabin is great, perfect for a small family. It’s not really clean but there are a lot of cleaning supplies and tools to clean it up. We will definitely go back.

Secluded escape

We had a blast. Off the beaten path is an understatement. The driveway from the main road is 1.4 miles of winding roads and plenty of signage to point to the right cabin at the end of the drive. A 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended! The gated entry both at the road and the cabin itself provided increased security. Great WiFi, no cell service.(Verizon). River views are breathtaking! Hands on experience with kids, not a sit and watch. Life jackets for kids are a must if they cannot swim. Some areas are deep. Overall, great experience. Clean and well maintained. We’re definitely going back!

Beautiful North Carolina place

We really enjoyed the stay at this house. I was a little worried after reading all previous comments, but we really liked it and most likely be back! It is very isolated, quiet, you can't hear a thing but the creek and birds. Owners were very nice and reaponded quickly to all my questions. Someone in previous comments recommended to screenshot directions, that was really helpful and the signs along the way are super easy to follow. We walked up the creek in the water which was fun! The house was clean enough and had everytying we needed. One thing I would recommend to have in the house is something to deal with the fire and logs in firepit. Maybe a big stick or shovel would be helpful. A note for future visitors is that there is no firewood provided, so you have to get your own. Overall it was a fun and nice stay. Definitely we would do it again! Thank you!

Mountain getaway

Overall the cabin was good. The location couldn't have been better for us. Really felt tucked away and the sound of the river and small waterfall was wonderful. Lots of time spent on deck reading and listening to the water. Did catch a couple trout which we ate for dinner final night. And no cell service was actually a real blessing. Just make sure to screen shot the check in procedures and you wont have a problem. Again overall a great experience.

Cleanliness, Rodents, Bugs/Spiders

WE love your set up, however several are prettified of spiders in house, mice droppings and bug on bedspreads. The creek was awesome and the fire pit, however the multitude of insects/bugs was somewhat overwhelming. I think you are good hosts, however the cleaning is subpar for new guests and first time impression. The mice droppings were in kitchen drawers, which made a difficult comfort zone for eating. Thank you for the stay, however we did not have a great first impression. Sincerely, V Scott Lamm victorslamm@gmail.com

Beautiful and peaceful retreat.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It's in a beautiful area and the cabin is well equipped, including an adequate internet connection. I hadn't planned on working during my time there, but had a work emergency and was able to video conference without issue. The stream nearby has some lovely pools and I caught several nice sized brown and brook trout out of it. This is in no way a reflection on the property, but something to note if fishing is a primary reason for your visit. I am from out of state and was not aware of the significant trough fishing regulations in NC. I was not able to fish in several off-property areas I had planned to due to the time of year. If fishing is a primary reason drawing you to the area, be sure to check the regulations before booking. I would have booked at a different time had I known.

Disappointed

The location and the setting are among the top cabins I have stayed in. The stream running to along the cabin was amazing. However, the cabin was very disappointing. When we arrived, the cabin was very dirty. Floors were not swept, carpet was very dirty, and the bed covers had stains all over them. Someone had pooped and put the poopy toilet paper in the trash can instead of flushing in the toilet. The cabin was very dingy and not well maintained. I have traveled all over and stay out of town five days a week and this reminded me of a cheap hotel. I also own a construction company so I'm used to being around dirt but I'm not going to sleep in someone else's dirt. We actually left a day early cause we were so disappointed

Long steep gravel driveway from where the address is/shows on GPS

The entrance of the property is shared with multiple other owners with a chain locked gate. You have to unlock a keypad to retrieve a key to lock & re-lock the gate every single time and you cannot take the key with you. 2 mile loose gravel driveway. Lots of ups and down and windy one lane driving. Takes about 10-15 minutes from where the address/gps drops you off to get to the actual cabin. So if you are planning on traveling to Boone or West Jefferson and you think it will only be 35-40 minutes. Add another 15! Cabin is NOT kid friendly. Tons of hazards. Dishes were all dirty or should I say poorly cleaned. Seriously, almost every dish. We washed anything before we used it. Spiral metal staircase right when you walk in the front door & in middle of living room, for upstairs loft rooms which are NOT enclosed. Could hear every/any sound in the house, floors not sealed off. NO PRIVACY) BOTH showers extremely small as well as the bathroom space, zero space to actually get ready. The space where the sink is awful. Maybe 2 feet wide. On top of all of that, the upstairs shower wouldn’t get hot and when the owner called (the house btw not us directly) he wasn’t local to come fix or didn’t want to have someone come out to fix. Instead, asked us if we could attempt to repair ourselves. IF you are looking for a couples retreat and do not want to leave the cabin the entire time, this place would suffice.

Cute getaway

The house was nice, many cooking supplies available, soft beds, wifi works IN THE HOUSE. Do not expect to pull up the codes at the end of the driveway. You will need to turn around the way you came to get signal. I didn’t see cleaning notes or rules “everywhere” There are a few but nothing crazy. The shower is definitely small. Like don’t plan on shaving your legs unless you are young and vey flexible or stick your leg out of the shower stall. Im 5ft 5 and could put my back on one wall and touch the other. The very cool potty helps make up for it with a bidet, heated seat and tushy drier. Most hi tech toilet I’ve ever seen. The water fall was great and if you are adventurous (and athletic) you can buy some tubes off Amazon for river tubing and hang out there all day. To the right of the waterfall is a great spot to swim, but wear watershoes as you never know whats floated down. There’s a big boulder you can slide down on the tube but you have to walk up the mossy rocks on the house side, because climbing up the waterfalls almost impossible unless you attach your tow rope to the tree across the stream. If you plan in jumping in, swim the area first so you don't get hurt. Some spots are over your head and some are a few feet. The current just pulls you in a circle unless you don’t pay attention and go down stream for a ride. The drive way is 1 mile and if you’re there in winter snow will need 4WD. Not much sun gets in house. Looks like 5am when 10am.

Very Disappointed, listing inaccurate

This was 2nd home we pre-booked on a needed 1 week break from my business here in NC and before my wife's spinal surgery began. I have rented many homes throughout NC mountain areas and even beach homes over the years, this one sadly, worst for what we expected and paid for. After leaving 1st property which was more remote and amazing (not VRBO home), we arrived at this property to realize something not quite right. There were no working phones at all. There was no TV satellite disk for direct TV to work, so all we had was netflix internet thing. No radios worked or were broken and old. Bathroom needs proper upgrade as only 1 small shower stall, and lots cobwebs in ceiling and lots of mice droppings in kitchen and living room and utensils drawer which we had to clean before we could move in (mouse even ran across counter). Using my son's girlfriend's I-Phone we were able to use internet to call out only. But after 1st day, around 930pm that night, the sewer pump system they have broke down. Seems it's happened before by notes left. I called number of their maintenance guy, and he arrived after 1030pm that night, banged on pipes under home, and said he had to find a professional plumber the next day. Until then, he told us to use the woods as a bathroom; None of the drains could be used. My wife and son's girlfriend are not going to use woods as a bathroom! We then packed everything up, angry and left early to drive all the way back home ruining my vacation and now I am trying to get owner/VRBO to refund our monies. Understand, this is located off the Old NC 16 "moonshiners route" and what you don't see in the pictures of waterfalls, is you face that route, and though traffic is very little, you will see locals driving that each day. Property may be 50 acres, but most inaccessible/unusable and very steep with rock except where cabin sits next to Reggies River. Only immediate area behind cabin can even be fished. Maintenance guy lives about 20 miles away, but evident that work/repairs done within home in past are not done by a experienced knowledgeable professional at all, and many elements are not up to Code electrically or mechanically. I am a licensed NC professional contractor myself and I was upset finding this out. Owner lives in FL, and works at Lockheed Martin, and needs to invest $$$ to properly and safely upgrade and maintain this or else will not have respectable renters nor willing to pay rates they charge.

Why they chose this property

When we first saw this cabin and its surroundings we were stunned by the beauty and magnificence there. It looked like something you would only see in a painting. It is truly a hidden paradise that we have found.

What makes this property unique

The energetic river is very soothing to gaze at and to listen to. The motion of the river seems to relax the mind, body, and soul. Truly a unique part of staying at our cabin.
