Don’t stay in this place

It’s so run down. The sliding door to the washer and dryer are just hardly hanging on. The carpet in the master is disgusting, the fan would not turn off. Dishes in the dishwasher were moldy. No dish soap to wash our dishes by hand when the dishwasher was contaminated by mold. When contacted the owner, it took 2 days for the maid to come, and she only washed 2 pieces of dishes, left other moldy dishes in the washer and contaminated the only sponge in the house. Half dead plants… the only good thing about this place is the location and the backyard.

Unprepared Host

Me and 3 adult friends stayed at this house for 4 days, and while we had a great time in California, the house left a lot to be desired. I will begin by saying that the yard is lovely, the bathroom/kitchen are nice and clean, and for the most part the house is as shown in the pictures. However, there were a LOT of details which made this stay feel not very welcoming. 1) The few towels provided were scattered throughout the house, and VERY stained with purple/yellow ink. 2) The TV was still in it's plastic wrapping, and was just leaned against the wall. The box was left on the back porch 3) The WiFi name and password were incorrect, and we had to find the router to read info ourselves. 4) The master bedroom light was remote controlled, but the remote was broken meaning we could not turn the light off all the way. 5) There were NO extra niceties, such as extra sheets, toaster, microwave, plunger, hair drier, conditioner, etc. 6) There was no welcome note or checkout paper to be found. Overall, this could have been a very pleasant stay, but it was not prepared *at all* for guests (which is a shame since all our complaints could have been solved with a few hours and less than $50). In all fairness, the host was fairly quick to respond to our complaints, and had dropped off new towels, set up the tv, and provided WiFi info by our second day. *However*, only 2 new towels were provided, and the TV was "set up" still in it's plastic covering (a lazy fix).

Disgusting and terrible service

The host was unresponsive, there were cigarette butts and blood stains everywhere. Absolute nightmare.

17-Day Stay. An Overall Good Experience

We stayed at this house for 17 days in April 2017 Pros: -Nice location: <3 miles to the beach, close drive to the airport -Owners were easy to reach (there was only 1-2 days during out 17 day stay where they didn't respond right away) -Beautiful backyard -Cozy, homey feel to the house -Mostly quiet neighborhood (it only gets a little noisy in the backyard during the afternoon due to children playing in the playground across the backyard wall) -Amply equipped with all the needed supplies for a relaxing stay: towels, beach equipment, kitchen essentials Cons: -Had plumbing issues during one day of our stay (the issue was diligently handled by the owners + we got a refund for that day) -One of the doors to the bathroom was difficult to close properly (not a big deal as this is a quick fix)

Garden like setting

The home was as depicted in the photos, clean, roomy, well equipped with a few exceptions. No microwave oven or outdoor grill did limit our cooking options, we are avid grill people! Purchased a weber grill and donated it when we left. The hot tub unfortunately was not usable, jets spraying all over. Had no heat the first 2-1/2 days, compromised several evening with repair men there, however this isn't a reflection on the home, things happen. Would have liked to have access to the garage. The yard is truly a garden! Beautiful...covered fire pit very nice.

Basic Housing with lots of functional issues

Positives: clean, two comfortable beds, beautiful garden area, kitchen adequately supplied for four people (see issue regarding microwave below) Concerns: * owner not available by phone or email until three days after we had been there - finally got a response after we left stating that they did not have access to wifi - no response to why they did not respond to my phone call - no local person to contact * owner states that she left a list of instructions on a bulletin board off the kitchen - none of the four adults staying there found it and we looked high and low * you cannot park on the street with out a parking permit that needs to be filled out by the owner - we found the permits but none were filled out - we had to ask a neighbor for help * bunkbeds would be great for kids, but not for adults * hot tub: nice to have, but had leaves on the bottom and gunk all over the bottom filter - wondered when it had last been cleaned * NO MICROWAVE -- owner says she states that in the description, but all she states is that it is a fully equipped kitchen - in our minds that mean a microwave - had to go buy one as one of our party had dietary issues and brought his own frozen food * lights in the dining room did not work - we had to go out and buy a battery for it * Lights in the back bedroom flickered for 30 minutes after we turned it off - made us wonder if there was an electrical problem I have advised the owners of these concerns and hope that they correct them for the next renters.
