Chalet Rivendell is situated at 2000 metres in Lauchernalp a small village high above the Lotschental Valley enjoying panoramic views of the famous Bietschorn Mountain and glacier. Chalet Rivendell is located within walking distance of the main ski lift,ski school / hire, internet cafe, shops, restaurants and bar. The Chalet is ideally situated for ski in - out in the Winter and makes a great starting point to enjoy many of the lovely walks all year around. The resort of Launchernalp has one of the most reliable snow covers of the region and is ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders with 33 Kilometres of trails from 3111 metres down to the chalet at 2000 meters and on down to 1375 metres in Wiler.

Chalet Rivendell has been inspected by the Swiss Tourist Office and awarded a 4* star rating from 2008 - 2019 is luxuriously appointed to a high standard and fitted with all modern appliances to make your holiday special.

Relaxing Mountain Gem

My husband and I spent 10 days hiking in the idyllic Lötschental Valley using Mark and Jayne’s modern chalet as our home base. Our incredible time in the area was enhanced due to the magnificent views from the chalet of the surrounding mountain peaks and glaciers, and the amenities the chalet provided to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. Lingering on the south facing deck with a cup of tea and chunk of Swiss chocolate as the sunrise crested the Langgletscher to the east, and returning after hikes to enjoy a hearty meal also on the sun bathed deck, was part of what made this property a soul-restoring mountain interlude away from our demanding professional lives. The chalet is nestled amongst swaying wildflowers with a sweet symphony of birdsong and distant cow bells rising on the mountain breeze, which coaxed us immediately to slow down and start to relax. We initially chose Mark and Jayne’s property not only for these glorious views, but also because it had laundry facilities. After doing other European hiking trips without laundry access, and having to spend evenings washing our gear in hotel sinks after long strenuous days on the trails, this was a significant contributor to freeing up our evening to lounge, enjoy the property, and soak in the alps. This also meant we could travel lighter and pack less for this trip which was a bonus. As we were traveling via Swiss transport for our stay, the close proximity of the chalet to the cablecar also contributed to the ease of getting around the valley which meant we could spend more time hiking and less time in transit before and after. We highly recommend this property for the relaxation it affords in one of Switzerland’s best kept secrets, the Lotschental, and eagerly anticipate our next visit. Thanks to Mark and Jayne for sharing their slice of heaven!

Perfekte Lage

Das Haus ist gut eingerichtet. Der Lift ist nur ein paar Hundert Meter vom Haus entfernt und Mittags/Abends kann man mit den Skien direkt zum Haus fahren. Das Skigebiet Lauchernalp ist klein aber fein. Perfekt für Familienurlaub.

Wunderschönes Chalet

Perfekte Skiferien in wunderbarem gut ausstaffiertem Chalet! Mit der Hausverwaltung (Bewi) waren wir gar nicht zufrieden. Leider war das Chalet nicht offen und wir mussten den Schlüssel selber organisieren, zudem war die bestellte, für uns überrissen teure Bettwäsche nicht dort. Nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen musste 1 Person ohne Bettwäsche schlafen.

Sehr schönes Chalet in traumhafter Lage

Wir waren 14 Tage von Ende August bis zum 10.09. in diesem Haus, das wie beschrieben und sehr gut ausgestattet war. Highlights sind die großen Fenster und die tolle Terrasse, so kann man sowohl von drinnen als auch von draußen das phänomenale Panorama genießen. Bis zur Seilbahn sind es nur wenige Minuten und der Halbstundentakt völlig ausreichend. Wir sind ohne Auto angereist und konnten uns gut im Tal mit dem kostenlosen Postbus bewegen. Für Wanderer bestehen viele Möglichkeiten und alles sehr gut ausgeschildert. Das Tal ist vergleichsweise noch sehr ursprünglich und unverbaut und - zumindest zu unserer Zeit- wenig besucht, also ein Wanderparadies! Als einziges hat uns die frühe letzte Fahrt der Seilbahn um 18:15 Uhr gestört, dadurch standen wir bei weitern interne

Is in werkelijkheid niet zoals beloofd

Mooie locatie. Het huis is slecht onderhouden. (terras versplinterd, ruit gebroken, toegang moeilijk wegens begroeiing, ...) Vuile was ligt verspreid in het huis.Internetverbinding is compleet ontoereikend, wordt gedeeld met de buren. Als deze toestellen koppelen kan je geen televisie meer streamen. SatelietTV met veel zenders, maar enkel shopTV en enkele anderen beschikbaar. (geen abonnement betaald door de eigenaar, je kan zelfs geen Zwitserse zenders bekijken) Ook onverwacht/niet afgesproken bezoek gekregen van de schoorsteenveger ikv periodiek onderhoud. Slaapkamers kunnen niet verduisterd worden. Inkijk van beide buren tenzij je de gordijnen volledig sluit, maar dan heb je geen uitzicht meer.

Das Chalet Rivendell liegt an hervorragender Hanglage, gut erreichbar mit herrlichem Blick ins Lötschental. Die Aufteilung des Chalets und die Ausstattung sind hervorragend. Nicht ganz diesem Standard entspricht die Sauberkeit des Hauses. Nutella mit Ablaufdatum 2020 im Küchenschrank, aber auch Vernachlässigungen bei der Reinigung entsprechen nicht dem Standard des Objektes. Haben ein wenig nachgereinigt und zwei tolle Wochen auf der Lauchernalp gehabt.

Christinas vacations in the snow

We really enjoyed our vacations in the snow with a marvellous view. The house is very well mantained and clean. Ski school is close by and in high standard. The only thing you should know is the supermarket is down in the valley and you need go down by cable car.

Phänomenale Aussicht

Das Haus hat eine phänomenale Aussichtslage über das ganze Lötschental, der Lötschentaler Höhenweg liegt fast direkt vor der Haustür. Das Haus hat alles, was es braucht, um sich wohl zu fühlen. Mit dem Wetter hatten wir leider nicht so viel Glück, too much rain in Switzerland. Der Weg zum Haus motivierte mich, ein wenig Gartenarbeit zu übernehmen. Die Vermieter haben sehr zuvorkommend und professionell mit uns kommuniziert.

Das Haus ist ausreichend für 4 Personen. Die Lage ist perfekt. Jedoch ist das Mobiliar und die Küchenausstattung sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Eine Grundreinigung ist unbedingt notwendig! (darf bei dem Preis für Bewiag erwartet werden)

Winterurlaub Lauchernalp 2020

Wir waren mit 4 Erwachsenen und 1 Kind angereist, dafür ist das Haus, nach unserer Meinung, auch okay. Das "Kinderzimmer" verfügt zwar noch über 3 weitere Betten, aber dann wird es im Essen- und Wohnbereich wirklich eng. Ein paar Kleinigkeiten in der Küche, wie Messbecher und ein Quirl haben gefehlt, aber die hat man sich dann einfach in der Nachbarschaft ausgeliehen. Auch über die Anordnung des Doppelbetts im Keller kann man diskutieren und vielleicht gibt es in Zukunft eine andere Möglichkeit, so dass der hinten Liegende nicht über den vorne Liegenden krabbeln muss, wenn er aufsteht. Der Kontakt mit dem Eigentümer war sehr gut und wir bekamen vor der Reise sofort Antworten auf unsere Fragen. Der vor Ort Kontakt mit den angegebenen Ansprechpartnern kam leider nicht zustande, war aber kein Beinbruch - wir wussten uns so zu helfen. Im Notfall könnte das aber schon hilfreich sein, deshalb nur 4 Sterne bei der Kommunikation.

We then came in December our first Winter in the mountains and it was wonderful and we caught the bug of Winter sports and the rest as they say is history
