About this property

"Cedar"- Mackinaw City Cottage -walking distance to town!

This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is one of 3 on this large wooded property. It was totally renovated in 2012 with cabin themed color and decor. This cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, the other has a full size bed. The full kitchen is well equipped to cook all your meals. In the living room is tv/cable, books, games, and internet. The bathroom has a small shower (no tub). In 2021 a screened front porch was added with a dining space and a lounging area. Outdoors is a flagstone patio with a firepit for those evening marshmallows and s'mores. And there is room in the yard for kids to play while you relax in the hammock. All of this just a few blocks from town and the Straights. You can walk to the waterfront, restaurants, shopping, ferries to the Mackinac Island, and live music. Short trips by car are to Petoskey, Wilderness State Park, Tunnel of Trees, and the UP (Oswald's Bear Ranch, Whitefish Point, Tahquemenon Falls, Sault Ste. Marie). Also, just minutes away is the Headlands with its Dark Sky Park- a great place to watch meteor showers. Families with young children or teens, couples, and business travelers would all enjoy a stay here.

Nothern Getaway

Great location in Mackinaw City within walking distance to the bridge. Close todinning and shopping, plus a short drive to Headlands Dark Sky Park. This bedroom cottage has everything you need for a great stay in Northern Michigan.

Nice cabin as a base camp to several fall adventures

We enjoyed this location for it's proximity to both traverse City and UP locations that we planned to see on our trip. The ability to have a camp fire, see the bridge and a rare chance to see the northern lights on our trip made our stay above and beyond.

Cozy little getaway

We have stayed at the Cedar cottage twice now, and enjoyed our stay this time as well. A short distance from downtown Mackinaw and a peaceful retreat. The screen porch was perfect for relaxing after a busy day of exploring.

Wonderful Stay

A cute cottage and very central home base for traveling around Mackinaw City and the UP! Well-stocked with cooking appliances + utensils, and a great HVAC system during a hot summer week.

Couple of late 60s walking the bridge.

This property is just a short walk to the bridge, the fort, and Mackinaw City. Very clean and comfortable. A very quiet neighborhood.

Tranquil getaway

We have been coming with our twin daughters for four summers now. We so look forward to this spot every year. Great location that is close to downtown and also good spot for taking day trips to island or elsewhere. Love sipping coffee in the morning in the covered porch!

Pleasant and Convenient

We had a wonderful stay at this small, quaint cottage. Only a couple blocks from downtown Mackinaw City, this house was so quiet and lovely. The screened in porch was my favorite place to unwind after spending the days on the island. So relaxing! The owners made the most with the limited space- two bedrooms and a bathroom, plus a cozy living space.

Peaceful retreat after day on Island

Went to visit Mackinac Island but stayed the nights here. Perfect size for 3 of us. Lovely screened porch, nice hot shower, all linens and towels provided. Quiet street but close to/easy drive or walk to town.

Quiet Neighborhood in Mackinaw City

The 'Cedar' sits off the busy streets in a relatively quiet neighborhood. 'The Macatawa' is adjacent if you have a larger family and wish to book two places simultaneously. If you are not one to stay in those busy hotels/motels, then the 'Cedar' will suit perfectly.. We stayed here once before(2014) and the cabin has undergone changes since then to improve the offered amenities. The hosts are great people. I highly recommend a stay here.

Nice family vacation

Beautiful and cozy place

We stayed here for four nights, it's a really beautiful place and walking distance to the main street. We loved the enclosed patio. The only thing we didn't like is the mattress in the inside bedroom. Everything else was perfect!

We live 4 hours away downstate and bought this property in 2011 with the goal of renovating all 3 cottages on the property so that we could spend time with our 3 kids and their future spouses/families. Over a period of 22 months we made frequent trips up north to work on our "family retreat center", especially Todd who did the bulk of the work. Its was a fun project to do, and now we enjoy our time there with family when we can. Mackinaw is a where we vacationed each summer when our children were small, so it brings back wonderful memories each time we stay here.

Why they chose this property

We love Mackinaw and the whole area. Its such a fun place to stay and its a great location to be able to visit other favorite place in the northern lower peninsula and the UP. This place keeps us off the beaten path just enough to have peace and quiet, but is a quick walk to town also.
