The large suite was clean and orderly, a little dated in terms of furnishings but the price is nice and the owner is friendly and accommodating. Walking distance to beach and shops.
Charming Retreat: Old Olcott Beach Firestation Guestrooms and Suites
Old Olcott Beach Fire Station Guest Rooms and Suites exceeded expectations with its charming decor, comfortable rooms, and attentive hosts. A perfect retreat for exploring Olcott Beach and enjoying waterfront views.
The owner was fantastic in communicating, whenever i reached out, and very proactive on any questions we had. I will be booking there again.Great location. Olcott beach, while small, was close. As is everything in Olcott. There is an area nearby for very little ones to ride fair rides. Plenty of places to eat.
Pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. Inside of the room was very clean and nicer than photos online. Nice location near Olcott beach, especially if you have small children. Within walking distance is a small park that is very affordable. There are small amusement rides that are only 25 cents.
I was very pleased with this property! It’s clean, has very pretty nautical decor, the bed was SUPER comfortable, and the biggest bonus is location! Waking up to the lake view right outside, the boardwalk being a minute walk away, and the little cafe to grab coffee or sandwich makes this the perfect place to stay. I never heard any noise from outside activities or other guests. So very tranquil and I was very sad to leave. It’s now going to be my go-to spot when I come back home to get my dose of Wilson/Olcott.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised. We booked at the very last minute on a crowded holiday weekend. The owner was very accomodating and went to extra lengths to be sure we were comfortable. The room was very clean amd comfortable. It was exactly as advertised. We would definitely book there again! Plus the wings at the reataurant downstairs are the BEST!

great location, confusing on check in process
upon arrival did not know where to obtain keys or check in (ended up being the restaurant and bar next door) location could not be better. walking distance to our charter. Room was relatively clean but garbages were not emptied and had fruit flies in kitchen. had to get rid of trash ourselves. Otherwise we would book again.

Fishing trip
Rooms and bathrooms were ok. Their is a deck outside the bedroom windows that connects all rooms. With chairs outside the windows. Other guests sit outside your window smoking and talking till 2am. Rooms were warm, and you cannot open the window to ventilate, because the neighbor sitting 1 foot from your window. The third night, I’m not sure if they were other guests or just the people from the bar downstairs, but they were up until about 4:30 in the morning when we were “waking up” to go fishing. I NEVER write bad reviews. This was three sleepless nights.
Our whole weekend was great! Olcott is a quiet little town with an easy walk to look at the beautiful Lake Ontario. Cute little shops on the boardwalk as well. The room we stayed in was a nice size, super clean and well set up with linen . There was air conditioning and a ceiling fan. There is a restaurant on the ground floor that serves great food very reasonably priced including weekend breakfast. There is a bar as well and a covered patio/deck to sit or eat on The service was super friendly too. There is also a front porch on the floor with the rooms overlooking the street with a nice view of the lake. I just want to add that the outside of the building looks old but the upstairs where the rooms are in very tastefully decorated, updated and lovely. We would DEFINITELY love to stay there again!
Nice simple place, clean. Great little lake village away from the tourism bustle. Quiet. Owner personable, promptly returned my inquiry and called to clarify my questions. Easy check in.

good for vacation stay
This property would be fine for those wanting a vacation near a beach and park at a Great Lake. The owner is pleasant, friendly and acomodating so are his staff. Unfortunately I was there for my job and this was a difficult work stay as the internet service is sporadic at best, there was no closet space for hanging suit coats for work and no bureau drawer space for clothing, All my work clothes had to be hung from the hook on the back of the bedroom and bathroom doors, my off work clothing had to be laid out in piles on the 2nd bed and as the beds are very small this created quite an organizational problem for me as well as a back pain issue as the bed I used was not big enough to allow for the positioning I do in bed to minimize back problems.
Before my trip, I emailed the owner a couple of times, but did not get a response. We arrived in the early part of the evening with no direction where to go, who to see or what to do about entry. Luckily, someone from the restaurant beneath it was able to contact the owner and get us in. Upon opening the door, the first thing I noticed was a very bad smell, like a men's locker room. The floors seemed to be clean as well as the bathroom, but the furniture was awful! There were 2 recliners, one had stains and spills on the arm and the other was the filthiest thing I ever saw and could not believe it was inside the room and not at the curb! The couch was worn, with tears and I wouldn't chance sitting on it. The bedding appeared to be clean and new, but with the odor that just lingered every where, I couldn't be sure. Because it was late, we slept in our clothes on top of the bedding and left in the morning. We had already paid for 2 nights, but never went back. The stove and refrigerator where clean and new, but who could stay there long enough to use them?! Yuck! Disappointed, to say the least.
