About this property

Luxury Imerovigli villa in breathtaking setting

This luxury villa has been meticulously refurbished by its architect owner to create a minimalist and contemporary home whilst maintaining the elements and spirit of its original architecture. The house is characterized by the soft Aegean light pouring in through its numerous French doors and large bay windows allowing sea views from almost all rooms. The materials, furnishings and appliances of the house have been carefully chosen and designed. The core of the villa is composed by the spacious and stylish living and dining room area. The living room with its imposing cross-vaulted ceiling has been furnished in a sleek and modern manner in order to create absolute comfort whereas the focus of the dining room is the unique and seemingly endless oak table equally suited to dining, leisure and work. The modern kitchen combines clean lines with maximum functionality. It has views both to the garden and the sea and is connected to the airy breakfast lounge with access to the courtyard.

The garden: The south facing garden is an oasis in its own right with olive and bougainvillea trees encircling the inviting swimming pool. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing by the pool and entertaining by the generous and sun-sheltered garden table.

The terraces: From the garden, stone steps lead to the mansion’s roof terraces offering unparalleled 360 degree views of the island and the surrounding Cycladic archipelago. At sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting for the aperitivo hour - before hitting the local night scene.

Wonderful stay in a perfect villa

Beautiful villa, spotlessly clean and well maintained. We chose the right area, not too busy but with plenty of restaurants to choose from and a local store for supplies. The walk into Fira was the most photogenic we’ve ever experienced with dramatic views at every turn. A wonderful short break on a truly unique island.

Perfect stay

We stayed for a week at Johan’s property in early June. The location is footsteps from the Caldera cliff tops in Imerovigli, yet in a quiet area of town so superb for whatever your needs. We made the daily walk along the coastal path into Fira a must. It doesn’t matter how many times you see the views, just takes your breath away. The property is exceptionally well presented. Has to be one of the best we’ve been fortunate to visit. Everything you could possibly need and more. We particularly liked the attention to detail, really well thought out to help you relax. The split level roof terraces are stunning and we found it was a battle to decide between this and the pool courtyard. You get the sun all day. It’s truly a beautiful home, trust me you won’t want to leave! Our hosts Johan, Eleni and Kostas ensured that our stay was managed so professionally and courteously, they were very kind. It’s the little things that make such a difference and you take such care in ensuring we had a lovely stay. Thank you. Fira is a fun place to hang out whether it’s a morning, afternoon or evening. It feels perfectly safe, generally packed full of cruise ship visitors, which gives the place a buzz, yet you don’t struggle to find a bar or restaurant to cater for most budgets, just seems to work well. I don’t doubt it’s different in peak season. We hope to return one day.

A memorable stay

We had the most wonderful holiday in Santorini. The villa was absolutely beautiful and did not let us down. Much more spacious than the photos suggest, especially the living area. Outside views from the top of the villa fabulous seeing the full island. The villa was clean and had everything we needed. We were 6 friends. It is also in a convenient location with privacy despite being by the caldera which is unusual. The walled garden had ample room for loungers and the pool was great for a cool down. Shops and great restaurants very close and Thira walkable distance too. The owner Johan was most helpful from start to finish with clear and timely responses to our questions. Especially helpful for us in arranging pick ups and transfers. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Villa, idyllic setting

We stayed at Johan’s beautiful villa from 18th-25th Aug 2018. The villa was stunning and in a perfect setting. If you walk out the villa and turn right you are only a few steps away from breathtaking views. Johan and his team were so helpful and we felt very welcome. I would highly recommend the villa and the location to anyone visiting Santorini!

Perfect

The villa was all we hoped for and more. We were over for our daughters wedding and Johan could not have been more helpful and patient with my numerous e- mails before our visit! Eleni the housekeeper was also wonderful. The villa is stunning and beautifully equipped, I do not understand some of the negative review comments about the bathrooms they were absolutely fine. We did not want to leave either the villa or Santorini. We would not hesitate to recommend it we had a wonderful week.

Glorious Holiday

Our family of four stayed at this GORGEOUS villa for 5 nights. Upon walking in, it is absolutely breathtaking. Past reviewers have done a great job describing the magnificent architecture of this home. My husband and I stayed in the master upstairs. The a/c worked beautifully and the doors open to a balcony that lead up to the roof deck which was awesome with its own lounge chairs. My daughter had the first floor bedroom off of the living room which was lovely and cool with a/c. My son slept in the room downstairs off of the kitchen. There was no a/c but fans cooled it just fine. There are two twins in that room. All of the beds and furniture were very comfy. We ate our breakfasts outside on the patio at the pool area and it was lovely. The pool was the perfect temp to enjoy after being out all day in the warm weather. The house also has a washing machine which we used. Imerovigli is a lovely little spot with good restaurants and in a more quiet area of Santorini between Oia and Fira. The bus stop is about a 30 second walk. We took taxi's into Fira for 10 Euros but the buses are also a great way to see the island and run frequently. It was nice to get away from all the tourists and cruise ships of Fira back to this magnificent villa each night. We would absolutely stay again if ever to return to Santorini. Johan was a pleasure to deal with and upon request, had extra towels brought to us as soon as I emailed him. We also had a midweek cleaning of the villa which was a nice addition. There is a grocery store a minute walk away so easy to stock up on foods. If you want to stay in a safe gorgeous area of Santorini away from the crowds in a 5 star villa, this is for you. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous home.

Excellent House

This is one of the best houses, we have ever stayed in. Excellent renovated with respect for the old house and very well combined with modern design. Everything is high quality and the services and support from the host/owners was excellent. We will for sure come back one day. BR, Fensholt family

Imerovigli Villa

The villa was perfect for our family of 4. Kids had their own rooms. Property was clean and had better Wifi than back in the village in the UK!! Location was perfect, and not in the tourist towns at the other ends of the island. Restaurants were great - whether you opted for a 5* luxury blow the budget or the tiny one tucked away with great food. Views were amazing, but could only see from the top of the villa. Villa is private and not overlooked by the other villas which were perfect and a few steps away is the magnificent views of the bay and great to get a good view of the sunset! Pool is small but managed to keep a 12 and 14 year old entertained with boomerang selfies! Local shops are within walking distance for provisions and I do recommend if you can, to hire a boat for a few hours and go round the bay and experience the diving and the view of the island from the other side...... Fab villa, fab holiday and for us 6 days was perfect. ps The owner Johan was very accommodating with using the villa midweek and not the normal Fri or Sat arrivals..... and always responded with any emails pronto.... Would most definitely recommend !

Sublime experience!

I stayed in this fabulous villa together with 3 friends last October. The villa is located on a square at the very top of the village and from the large terraces you get wonderful views all around the island and also of other neighbouring islands. The design of the villa is spectacular with extremely high cross-vaulted ceilings and with lovely and very spacious rooms. The bedrooms (we only used two of them) are perfect and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are also very stylish. The kitchen is very well equipped and nicely laid out together with the lovely breakfast room. As the weather was still quite summery we used the outside pool almost daily which was great fun and refreshing after some long hikes around the island. One additional advantage was the easy access to the villa as you get free parking (might get busy during high season though) basically right outside the house in the square and you don’t have to climb any stairs to reach the villa. The owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with and the housekeeper was so nice and actually did the laundry for us twice! I would unreservedly recommend this property to any type of traveller and I would love to come back myself!

Lovely main rooms - poor value

Very difficult to find - not on any maps and no address provided. Lovely main rooms, especially breakfast room. Bedrooms quickly get too warm to sleep. Main floor bath is connected to town wastewater, and the smell of sewage pervades. We were not able to use that bath the entire trip. Not suited for children. Pool is very tiny (more of a large bath) and surrounded by very fragile marble tiles such that you can't even sit on the side. Sitting on roof isn't that pleasant - can't see caldera view and quite windy and dusty, without shade. Basement bedroom and basement bath not connected, so those in that room must travel two staircases to use the loo (main bath too smelly/very tiny). No laundry facility, which us unusual in this expensive a listing.

We were 5 and we all loved our stay. The house si cosy , confortable and Well organised. The views is beautiful and the location is out of the touristic path while being so close to everything . We use to Wake up take our Time in the beautiful garden an then go visit . The sunset so beautiful and Sunrise in the master room. Great restaurant at 2 minutes walk. I Want to go back soon.

Impressive house

The property is stunning, spotless, extremely private, and well positioned in the town centre. The owner, Johan is kind and attentive and is always on hand to help with restaurants, advice, etc. The walk into Fira has fantastic views over the caldera and there are plenty of bars and cafés en route for refreshment. I would not recommend September/October though, it gets extremely windy and the temperature can plummet. Otherwise, I would most certainly recommend this property to any couple or group who want to be away from the madding crowd, yet not far from amenities.

Truly inspirational!

Effortless style drifts through the spacious, light-filled rooms of beautifully restored Malteza House, situated in the central square of Imerovigli, in the northwest of Santorini, high above the Caldera. No hiking up and down winding steps with suitcases, the taxi drops you off right in front of the gate opening into the privacy of the enclosed courtyard where the dip pool is located. Within a stone's throw of restaurants and boutiques built on the edge of the volcanic cliffs, Malteza house enjoys an enviable location, utterly peaceful and secluded and yet within a stone's throw of the restaurants and shops on the edge of the caldera, within walking distance of Fira, and a short hop to lovely Oia. It's peaceful here, in Malteza House, and the roof-top terrace is the perfect vantage point from which to view the fabulous Santorini sunsets. No detail is left to chance; the house breathes understated elegance, serenity and peace. After a few days in Malteza House, I felt that I had not only rediscovered dreams but found the energy to set off once again in their pursuit! Inspirational, unique.

Stunning and spacious villa

If you are looking for a stylish and secluded villa on Santorini, I could not recommend this more highly. Despite its minimalist design, the villa is fully equipped, including an eclectic selection of dvds, cds and books. The villa has several areas for sun-bathing which are not overlooked because the property has it its own private courtyard and is high up on the island. Fira is only a short walk away, along the scenic path with stunning views of the sea and the villages on the cliff edge. The owner was very helpful and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. The maid, who lived nearby, was efficient and friendly.

Absolutely fabulous!!

I stayed with friends in this gorgeous villa in July 2011. I can only say that the photos on the website cannot do justice to this sublime venue. The architecture, attributes and immaculate cleanliness of Malteza House were truly stupendous and we had a fantastic time. The views from inside the house and from the numerous terraces were out of this world. We will try and come back as soon as possible!!!

May in Imerovigli

We are a family from the Netherlands, may 2010 we stayed in the beautiful villa of Johan Lantz. The villa is very well situated and 1 minute walk from the caldera. The pool is smaller than it looks on the photo's, but excellent for little children and grown ups who wish to keep their hair dry ;-) The atmosphere is relaxed, well equipped kitchen and shops/restaurants close by. We had a wonderful time !

Wonderful stay!

This property was hard to leave because the stay was so nice. The villa is beautiful, the courtyard and pool were the perfect size for our family. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Easy walking distance to Fira. My children loved having different rooms to hangout in. Having the windows open, according to instructions kept the house cool with a nice breeze. It felt like we lived in Santorini. The house manager was very responsive, and the driver that we used through the property manager took us wherever we wanted to go, and made us feel incredibly safe. We would absolutely stay here again.

Spacious villa in a great location

The property manager and host were great and easily accessible if we had any questions or concerns. The host, Johan, was also great at providing recommendations for our group while on the island! The house had plenty of room for our group of 6 people and was perfectly located near town.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights in Santorini as 3 adult couples. It was a very large unit so we could enjoy each others company but also have privacy. Johan and Eleni were incredibly nice and accommodating. Johan is super responsive. We would love to return.

This is such a beautiful and spacious house in a great location in Imerovigli. Our family had plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. The kids had fun in the pool and we enjoyed watching sunrises on the rooftop. We hope to stay here again when we return to Santorini!

..Lovely Villa but be aware..

Overall the villa is wonderful. Artfully done, mimimalist arresting decor with a kitchen ample for cooking. The host is very communicative and both Eleni (cleaner) and Kostas (pool man) were wonderful. The only issues I think prospective guests should be aware of are these. The third bedroom (without A/C) is down very steep stairs from the kitchen wing of the house. The third bathroom, though large is on the other side of the villa and down another steep flight of stairs. The main floor bathroom is miniscule with inadequate lighting. All that being said, it is a lovely place and Eleni came twice during the week we were there to change the linens and clean. I just think, in full disclosure, guests should be aware of the issues mentioned before determining whether to book. Stairs are definitely an issue.

Fabulous home base to explore Santorini

The property is even more beautiful than it appears in the pictures. Thick white walls that glowed pink with the sunrise. So much character and everything is well-appointed. The owners/care takers made everything seamless. We never needed the air conditioners (although it was mild June weather). The hot water is a bit limited but it was okay if you didn’t take super long showers. I think there is a hot water backup but we didn’t need it. This area is a great alternative to the tourist-packed towns North and South of it. Would recommend using taxis and transfers rather than renting a car. Driving here is a bit intense. Would recommend walking towards the sea or walking out to the big rock to see the sunset as the rooftop is better for sunrises than sunsets. Or book a table for the tasting menu at Four Senses for a sunset dinner.
