Get out of the fog and into the sun. Enjoy the year-round mild climate and central location of San Rafael, with effortless access to San Francisco to the south (thirty minutes across the world famous Golden Gate Bridge), the spectacular wine country of Napa, Sonoma, and Alexander Valleys (forty minutes), and Berkeley (thirty minutes).

Our home is located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood. 18 steps lead to this attached in-law unit, which features many amenities and unique privacy. Another 12 steps to a semi-private swimming pool, hot tub, and deck, featuring nearly three-hundred-sixty-degree views of the Bay and Mt. Tamalpais.
Our electricity is generated by solar panels and we have a rigorous recycling program. Our full kitchen features coffee-maker, dishwasher, gas over and stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer.
Less than fifty yards away is a hiking trail in a eucalyptus forest, with views of San Francisco in the distance.

Marin County offers beaches, golf, hiking, and biking. (Mountain biking was 'invented' on Mt. Tam.) Local scenery includes breathtaking vistas of Mount Tam, and the ancient redwood forests of Muir Woods, sightseeing in Sausalito and Tiburon, and much more. It features restaurants to fit every budget and culinary taste, as well as, excellent theatre, cinema, and shopping.

San Rafael, home of the 2nd most northern and oldest Catholic mission (founded 1817), also features a civic center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and a refurbished art deco theater in a revitalized downtown.

Beautiful location

My daughter and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I would highly recommend this studio. The owners had been so thoughtful in providing almost everything that was needed. Mark was very pleasant and willing to answer any questions we had. We are both hoping to return again to this studio high in the hills above St. Raphael.

This is a lovely rental and Mark was really friendly and helpful. The property is in a great location with stunning views and great walks to be had within a few metres of the property. The property was really well equipped and spotlessly clean when we arrived and we really appreciated the peace and quiet after the noise and bustle of San Francisco. There is a lot to see and do within the area and it is easy to get into San Francisco from the property so the location was perfect for us. We would highly recommend this rental and it would certainly be our first choice of rental when we visit the area again it was by far the best place we stayed in on our trip and excellent value for money.

Best Vrbo I’ve ever been too

Lovely little apartment with a full well stocked kitchen. Owners left us a bottle of wine. Views from the deck of the surrounding hills were stunning.

Lovely stay

Beautiful views from this place and only a 30 minute drive from places like muir woods and San Francisco. The hosts are very kind and accommodating when/if needed. The kitchen had a lot of things supplied already like coffee and espresso machine plus more thoughtful touches that made the stay easier. Would definitely continue to stay here for future visits

Quiet, safe, clean, comfortable.. beautiful

I stayed here for five nights on my own while I helped clean out my father’s home. Marc and Julie were very communicative and any question I had they answered quickly. The views from their home are spectacular. I think maybe the best in all of center Rafel. The bathroom was spotless and the bed extremely comfortable. I was grateful to have such a comfortable and quiet home to return to after my difficult days. I was able to get Ubers, since I did not have a rental car and enjoyed the morning sun in the bedroom. They did have a great AC, which kept it cool in the 90° weather outside.

Wonderful views and comfy living

We had an amazing week in San Rafael and the apartment was perfect. Great views of the valley from apartment, deck and pool. We got wonderful treats from the farmers market on Sunday and Thursday and enjoyed our trips to wine country. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked several meals. The bed was great and we slept very well. This rental is perfectly located and i highly recommend it.

Wonderful and even more spacious than expected

Very charming and peaceful. View was stunning. Pool was so refreshing and hot tub too. Floaties were a nice touch and the plants and scenery were amazing too. I forgot coffee and was pleasantly surprised with nespresso pods and creamer and milk (not sure thats always there but it was nice). Had beach amenities and bathroom supplies in abundance. The host was communicative and checked by dm. Helpful guidebook in the room pointed us to great meals. Nice pillows, great books, easy parking. Would love to return.

Hidden Retreat

This was our first experience staying in a VRBO and it was more then we could have asked for! Everything you could need was provided, comfortable and the hosts very attentive and checked on you to make sure you didn’t need anything. Communication was great and access easy! Paradie dans les collines de la baie de san francisco

A mon arrivée dans le studio, je me suis sentie a l'aise, et en ouvrant les rideau, les collines avec la brume en fond, magnifique! J'ai beaucoup bougé, et l'emplacement est parfait pour visiter le nord de la Californie, car nous sommes a 10 minutes de l autoroute, l'acces a S.F et tout autant pratique. Le balcon est super pour prendre l'apero. La literie est superbe, et la cuisine et la salle de bains tres fonctionnelle, le seul défaut est le bruit du frigo, je suis difficile car je ne suporte pas de bruit la nuit, cela a ete compliqué mais une fois endormie, ca passe. Je me rapellerais a vie de ces vacances, mes premières aux États-Unis. Merci beaucoup a mark et a judi qui ont été super,je recommande ce logement vivement.

Perfect San Fran stay

We were looking for a place out of the city but with east access - and what a perfect choice! Quiet, up in the hills, with gorgeous views and excellent amenities. Easy drive to downtown but also plenty to do just in the area. Mark was a great host and we loved our short stay!

Then unit was stocked with everything you would need, within close driving distance of points of interest, and 3 houses away from a beautiful hiking trail. The hosts were amazing and even helped me plan some activities.
