The cabin was perfect for the downtime we were looking for. Hiking trails nearby were an added bonus. We spent hours on the beautiful deck watching wildlife and the stars. Gene was terrific to work with!
The property was clean, well stocked, easy and nice area. Only trouble was we had about one hour when the water mysteriously did not work…….it came back on before we could complain to the owner. Aside from that hiccup, it was spectacular 😀
Great property in a wonderful setting. We really enjoyed our time in this area and the cabin afforded easy access to all the enjoyable activities we were eager for (kayaking on the lake with the kayaks included at the cabin + hiking + relaxing on the deck with food). Way more than enough room for our family of four. This is a great place! Thank you so much.
We stayed a week. The property was quiet and nice. It had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. It is close to the Lake, and we went to the beaches and enjoyed ourselves. Next year we plan on 2 weeks. For us it is close to where we grew up and were able to have a family member come and stay one night. It was in the fall and the leaves were turning - great place. Had a little trouble getting the TV to work so we just watched movies.
The owner is very easy to work with. The cabin has a very nice kitchen but the bathroom is much older with very little water pressure.
There were not clear instructions on what to do at checkout.
It has beautiful scenery and it is just a short drive to a nice lake.
We loved our stay in Gene’s cabin. He was very prompt with communication and very generous allowing us to use his ATV’s and kayaks. We had an issue with the water shutting off at random times but we also had 6 adults using the shower, washer, dishwasher, etc. And Gene replied promptly with directions to get it going again each time. Don’t expect hotel room cleanliness because this is a cabin in the woods and we did have to buy a mousetrap but we live in the country in KS and know how hard it can be to keep the dang critters out of your house especially when you aren’t living there full time. Overall, the cabin fit our needs perfectly and we very much enjoyed our time there relaxing and site seeing. We would definitely stay again.
Great little cabin, with nice decor and finishes to fit the mountain west setting and everything we needed for my wife and I. We enjoyed just sitting on the deck with a fire in the fire pit and looking at the great up-close view of the nearby mountains and nicely landscaped property surrounded by aspens and it's own little pond. Kitchen is updated and has everything you need to prepare meals inside or out on the gas grill. Very secluded and quiet location off the beaten path suited us perfectly. Boulder lake is very close and offers expansive views and water access for those so inclined. Owner Gene was very easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a cozy mountain cabin in that area.
Great cedar cabin with lots to do right outside your door
This is a great cedar cabin with everything you need for a comfortable basecamp – well-appointed kitchen, beautiful stone fireplace in living area, separate home theater room, master bedroom and guest bedroom. We loved the wrap around deck so one can choose sun and shade at different times of day. The cabin is in a green irrigated valley surrounded by rocky precipices. We loved hiking up to Blueberry Lake – a good trail starts a short distance from the cabin. We also loved kayaking on Boulder Lake – kayaks for guest use on property. Eugene is a super nice guy who showed us around when we arrived and made us feel welcome.
This property was even better than I had imagined it would be. Pictures of the inside do not do the place justice- or maybe there just are not enough pictures! Furniture was all in great shape, the kitchen was lovely and functional, king and queen beds very comfortable. The fireplace in the living room lent a fantastic ambiance and warmth to the house. The Netflix would drop every now and again, but there were lots of DVDs on hand and it was only my toddler wanted to watch tv anyway, as everyone else was taking in the view. The shower was nice and the grounds of the cabin are stunning. There were more neighbors than I expected, but everyone who passed by were very friendly. We took a day trip into Pinedale and did the scenic Skyline drive, which was fabulous, but I would have been happy to sit on the deck here all day and just watch the light changing on the rock formation nearby. Such a relaxing place to stay!
This was the perfect place for our family to relax and spend quality time together! We loved every aspect of this home, especially the cozy fireplace room with large windows. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!
Rocky Mountain Retreat at Boulder Lake Ranch in Wind River Mountains
This was an amazing location and property which was exactly as advertised. I moved to Hawaii years ago and wanted to come back to the rocky mountains and introduce it to my 24 year old daughter and this cabin was perfect. It is in an absolute beautiful box canyon with amazing views. If you are interested in getting re-acquainted with the true rocky mountains, this property is for you. It is quite rural but is totally safe and laid back. Bring some food as nearest store and restaurant is quite a ways. I would recommend staying for a week and do some day trips to surrounding areas. There is a lodge at this ranch also called Boulder Lake Lodge where you can setup horseback riding. This is truly a special destination and perfect spot to unwind. The host was super responsive and knowledgeable on the area. I highly recommend.
Gene was an excellent host. The house was perfect for a secluded country stay. hiking and activities close. Dining and shopping were a drive (to Pinedale) but we knew that going in. The listing was for a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom. There was only one shower which was a challenge for 6 of us staying there. It slept 6 comfortably and the outdoor seating was perfect for meals. Overall - great stay.
Gene has a beautiful property. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We even had deer and a moose come through the yard while we were staying there. The cabin was well stocked and had anything you would need for time away.
