Light and open, this modern adobe rests on ten acres overlooking Abiquiu Lake towards Ghost Ranch, with gorgeous views in all directions. Picture windows throughout the living area allow you to appreciate the vistas from the comfort of the well-appointed interior. The covered portales (covered porches) are ideal for enjoying the tranquility of the environment. Admire the view of the Pedernal from the portale off of the master suite, or take in the iconic landscape of Ghost Ranch while you grill on the portale off of the kitchen.

Spend your days hiking, visiting area galleries, or reconnecting with your own creative side. And after enjoying the unique sunset at the end of the day, savor the starlight of the unadulterated night sky.

Peacefulness

This casita offers beautiful scenery, isolation and a peacefulness that is hard to come by nowadays. The views of Lake Abiquiu and the Ghost ranch are unmatched. All rooms have expansive windows that allow one to sit and enjoy. The casita is well stocked with more than ample dishes and spices. If one is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is definitely the place. It was very clean and well furnished with a very well maintained gravel/rock road.

Great Remote Retreat

Very nicely done home with spectacular views of Chama Valley and Abiquiu Lake. A bit of a drive from town, but if you seek isolation in a wide open natural setting, this is the place. Comfortable beds, great kitchen, just one bathroom, but very nice shower. Host is very responsive.

We loved everything about John’s property. The location, the home itself, the light from all the windows, the layout, the comfortable beds and furniture, the fully stocked kitchen. It was our best VRBO experience. We will be back.

Best Retreat Getaway

If you're looking for a place in nature with no humans or cars visible, most spectacular scenery ever, this is the place! A bit off the beaten path, and the well-designed house with all the amenities, suited us perfectly. It gave us a needed break from civilization and we hope to visit again soon.

Stunningly beautiful and serene

We loved everything about this beautiful adobe home. The views in every direction are absolutely gorgeous. The house itself is lovely, elegantly appointed and constructed with care. Perfect, well-stocked kitchen and huge living room windows to enjoy the view toward Lake Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch beyond. We had a very comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, remote surroundings

The home is situated with the most incredible view of the mountains and Lake Abiquiu. Waking up in the morning felt like such a treat. The house is well-stocked with kitchen items, games, and other creature comforts. John was available any time we reached out. It is difficult to follow the written directions to the property, and I would suggest that the map coordinates be provided so guests can use gps to get there. The linens could also use an update, but I did share that with John and he kindly said he would address it. I highly recommend this place if you have an SUV and desire a quiet respite.

Quiet Inspiration

Our first trip to New Mexico brought us to this wonderful oasis in the high desert. Words cannot describe the peaceful tranquility that abounds. Star gazing is beyond belief! It is the most incredible views ever. The Pedernal is Amazing! The Adobe house is excellent and well stocked. It was our most memorable little road trip ever and would love to return some day!

Amazing comfortable house with stunning views

We arranged to stay 4 nights so we could take full advantage of the peaceful private beautiful views, sunrises and sunsets. We visited Ghost Ranch for a landscape tour, but otherwise hung out at the house enjoying views, reading, and my husband painted. All of our hopes were met and exceeded. The host is very responsive and communicative, and there are plenty of supplies and appliances. Some essentials - if accidentally (like us) forgotten- can be purchased 30 minutes away at Bode’s General Store in Abiquiuu. We’ll be back !

Magical Stay

Traveling to this stay was everything we had wanted. The home was both welcoming and very much a slice of paradise. The views are amazing and the location both peaceful and serene. John, the host, was beyond accommodating given our lack of technical skills. This stay was a 10+. Visiting the home and area of Georgia OKeefe was so impressive given our love of her work. Abiquiu is just a vortex of beauty. We will definitely return.

Fantastic!

So, because sometimes I drive the struggle bus, we got lost on the way to the house. We called John and he was so nice and kind about the whole thing. He told us over the phone exactly how to get to the house, and stayed on the phone with us until we got there. The house was very secluded and so nice. The loudest thing were the birds waking us up every morning. The house was very clean and nice. Our son loved exploring the property and finding skipping rocks in the river bed. It was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Thank you so much for everything!!!

Georgia O'Keefe and Abiquiu holiday

I cannot be more impressed with the beautiful Casa Bonita home and its remote location. Every amenity imaginable was available with the view towards the lake and Ghost Ranch on the other side pure eye candy. The most beautiful setting

Every window in every direction has a memorable view and this beautiful home has many picturesque windows! It’s quiet, peaceful, and begs you to relax and rest. Everything we expected and more!

For two teachers who wanted to get away on spring break and be surrounded by peace and beauty, we couldn't have picked a better property. This place has everything - incredible views, room to walk and explore, so many stars, and the perfect house to take it all in. Although it is a bit off the beaten path, that is exactly what we wanted - a place to come back to when exploring the northern parts of the state. It was our first trip to New Mexico, and it won't be our last!
