About this property

Farmhouse on a 700 acre land with geothermal hot pool.

A fantastic hideaway in the Icelandic countryside, Goltur is set in 700 acres of farmland with stunning views. From the capital Reykjavik it takes 1 hour to drive to Goltur. 9 bedrooms, sleeps 20, enclosed garden, private swimming pool and BBQ area.

A beautiful three story farmhouse set in the heart of rural Grims-nes in the South of Iceland. The house sleeps 20 people. Very well located for day trips in the South of Iceland. Away from the light pollution you may during the winter time see the northern lights (auroras borealis) dance all over the sky.

On the first floor there is a fully equipped kitchen with combined dining area where there is a large dining table to seat 10 persons. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, double fridge with cold fresh water and ice cube machine.

Second floor
On the second floor there are 5 bedrooms, three of the bedrooms have queen size beds and two of the bedrooms have double beds. On the second floor there is one room with toilet and water basin.
Towlels provided as well as bed sheets.
The house provides everything you need for a wonderful holiday. A house with cosy and peaceful atmosphere.

The house was built in 1962 as a farmhouse, there was a family who ran a farm on the land until the late 90's. The house has been newly renovated but is still in an old Icelandic farm style and is not like a 100% new house, we ask our guests to have in mind that this is a very rare property up for rent and please treat it as so.

The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge with ice maker.

The house has a 4G WiFi router, the speed is around 40 to 50 mbps, but it is over 4G so it can vary a bit, but it has worked great for us.

Our swimming pool is newly built, the pool and the house is heated by our own natural geothermal hot water comes from a 800 meter deep borehole 100 meters from the house. So the heat is 100% natural. The pool will be warm/hot in the winters and in summer time we can have it as our guests prefer, at most it will be around 37°c / 99°f, this is at the most.

Our guest will have the whole farmland for them selves, it is as private as it gets, the house is located on a private 700 acres land, the land includes mountains, lake and more.

We will be one phone call away the whole time.

The owners reserve the right to enter the land for the purposes of looking after the horses, maintenance and to fish in the lake but they will be discreet about it and not cause you any disturbance.

Our family own Icelandic horses and they live on our land, there are also wild sheep on although they are fenced in a part of the land.

The house is located near a lake and we offer 4 fishing rods for our guests, there is wild fish in the lake.

The house is located in the Golden Circle area witch is the one of the top tourist attractions in Iceland.

From the capital Reykjavik it takes one hour to drive to Goltur and from the international airport in Keflavik it takes 1 ½ hour to drive to Goltur.

The farmhouse is in 20 minutes drive from Selfoss where you will find all kinds of stores and services.

Family trip to Iceland

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this farmhouse north of Selfoss. Plenty of bedrooms and lots of space for our extended family gathering. We loved searching for the horses each day when coming and going and the kids spent so much time in the pool. It was so warm and the great way to end our sightseeing days.

Magical location!

Could not have asked for a more beautiful peaceful place for our family of 8. Location was fantastic for day trips throughout southern Iceland. Selfoss was an easy 25 minutes for groceries. The pool was sublime to come back to in the evening. And the horses were the best welcoming committee ever!

Amazing place for large families

Our family of 14 stayed here for 3 days in late June. The home was very clean and had all of your needs taken care of. Large kitchen and relaxing spaces. The pool was really nice for those cold and rainy days. The house is within 2 hours of everything south and south central. I highly recommend the property

Amazing week in the Golden Circle!

Don't let the nine bedrooms discourage you from booking this wonderful farm house. Instead, invite friends and family to fill the rooms! We were first drawn to the private geothermal pool, but were reluctant to book this property for our family of three. Ultimately, we invited family and friends to fill (most of) the rooms and it was the best vacation decision we have made in a long time. The hosts were instantly responsive and courteous from the booking process and throughout our stay. The kitchen is extraordinarily well equipped for cooking large family meals. The location is perfect for day trips to the South Coast and to sites in the North, all roughly within a hour or so by car. We spent the days exploring the Golden Circle only to return to cook and enjoy family meals and float in the geothermal pool while watching the Northern Lights. Book this one to reconnect with family and friends - Wonderful property, location, and hosts - you won't have any regrets.

Fabulous Week at Golfur Farm

Our family, kids and grandkids decided to come to Iceland for a unique vacation. We never thought we would find a house large enough for all 17 of us. It is hard to tell from pictures about the size but when we arrived and saw this property and all the amenities they gave us a standing ovation! Large kitchen with dining table, two refrigerators and very well equipped. The living room was very comfortable and big enough for everyone to sit for family time. The bedrooms are very nice and good size the beds and linens are beautiful. Showers and toilets worked out fine. The owner was very responsive when with every question we had. He also put us in contact with an Icelandic chef who came to the house and prepared an Icelandic meal for us explains about traditional Icelandic food and giving us a new modern twist to every dish. Everyone loved, loved feeding the horses every day, we spent more on bread and carrots for them then we did for the family. The geothermal pool was the absolute best, being in the pool in the rain was delightful, we took full advantage of this amenity. Although the farm is isolated it was easy to get to various sites. Sulfoss is about 15 minutes away and has shops, grocery store, liquor store and some fabulous eating places. Highly recommend Gulfur farm for family vacations.

Very nice, relaxing place

The pool really makes this property. We spent a lot of time in there. We got to experience the Northern lights one of the nights which was wonderful. Communication with the property owner was easy and prompt.

Wonderful week in Iceland at Goltur Farm

We had a family reunion at Goltur Farm. The propoerty is amazing, sitting just off a beazutiful lake with an amazing heated pool. We spent hours in the soothing 98 deg F water. The hosts were very helpful and there was everything at the house we needed for meals and communing. It is a beautiful setting with easy access to everything in south Iceland.

Unbelievable property and accommodations, adventurers paradise!

My husband and I rented the farmhouse for a long weekend to have our family join us for our wedding ceremony. The house has everything you could possibly need! The property is absolutely stunning and feels magical being surrounded by so much beauty. The pool is such a great feature we spent so much time in it, especially having kids around they all loved it. The horses were tough to find sometimes but it was so fun to see them when they did make their way towards the fence by the house. We also hired the chef that the home owner recommended and she would get 5 star reviews from everyone! She did a big family style meal on Friday evening and then came back Saturday and did a 4 course dinner for 18 people. I don’t know how she did it but every thing she served was delicious and timed well, we also got some leftovers! Not to far from shops/grocers and a good location to explore some of the iconic Iceland scenes! Wish I could live at this house :)
