Great location
We flew in from Texas. We visited many of the popular towns such as Woodstock and Stowe. This house is located close enough to drive but far enough away to be secluded. It snowed and my son played on the provided sled and tube the majority of one day. Very clean and quiet apartment. If you need noise to sleep, I’d recommend a traveling fan. Would definitely stay here again.

Sheep Farm Love
We were only there for a short, two night visit, but it was great. The apartment is exactly as advertised and has everything you need and more. Todd & Peg are great hosts. And you get to watch - and meet - the sheep! Looking forward to returning in the fall when the views will be spectacular!

Amazing stay!
Charming guest apartment, comfortable and quiet. Breathe taking mountain and farm views. Loved the view of the sheep roaming the fields. Property owners have a great knowledge of the area and have a wonderful binder with a variety of local attractions and restaurant's. Can’t wait for our next trip!

Peaceful and lovely place
The apartment is very clean, well laid out, and with all the windows open bringing in fresh air the sleeping is great :) The sheep are fun and we enjoyed watching them and listening to their antics. Peggy and Todd are very kind people and very helpful in providing info about the surrounding area. Love their dogs :) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Lovely apartment with views on a sheep farm!
We were in the area to visit my mother in law in Hanover and for my husband and daughter to go skiing and for me to do a baking class at King Arthur Baking. This private entrance well-equipped apartment above the owners’ garage was a comfortable and cozy spot from which we could easily access all of our disparate activities. Aside from a small snafu at check-in due to a misunderstanding between husband and wife about our arrival - everything was wonderful. Even the check-in situation was easily remedied as we only wanted to drop off our bags and come back later that evening for dinner. The platform bed was bet comfortable in the bedroom with good lighting and side table lights. The living room pull out sofa with no springs waa also comfy and we had plenty of room to spread out. Given our back and forth to various activities we did not avail ourselves of the games or cook at all so we can’t speak to how the kitchen was equipped for meal preparation. The morning views were gorgeous and the bucolic sheep a plus. We willl definitely consider staying here again the next time we’re in the area (PS: the fact that King Arthur Baking Company with its extensive baked items and lunch takeout and eat in and coffee is just down the road 12 minutes is a HUGE bonus)

We had a great stay at Savage Hart Farm. The hosts were very welcoming and even pulled the sleds out so we could have some fun in the snow. I would recommend this comfortable apartment for a small family or couple to visit.

A little slice of Heaven
My husband and I needed a respite from our busy lives in Boston and booked Savage Hart Farm for 4 nights. The prosperity is absolutely stunning and the views are incredible. Todd and Peggy were super friendly and great hosts. The sheep were adorable and our dog Max really enjoyed the outdoor space. We are looking at dates to come back in the fall as this was a much needed trip to reset and reconnect. HIGHLY recommended if you’re looking for a tranquil/quiet place to unplug.

3 days at Savage Hart Farm
Todd and Peg are kind and gracious hosts. Communication was always quick and concise. During our stay Todd gave my wife a tour of their sheep operation and we had another nice chat in the driveway as we crossed paths with both of them. I mention this because I am a little leary of staying at properties which are connected to the host's residence. Todd and Peg have just the right balance of being available but not hovering. They are a very interesting couple with a great story of how they got to this place in their lives. Even though the house is in a very quiet country setting you are just a short drive to lots of food options and sightseeing. The description and pictures on VRBO are very accurate for this quaint getaway.

About the host

Hosted by Todd & Peggy Allen

Host profile image
Savage Hart Farm’s owner/operators – Peggy and Todd Allen – have turned a beautiful post and beam 4-bedroom home on 32 acres into a working farm with a vacation rental apartment. We moved onto the farm in July of 2012, and only a month later we were joined by our “starter” flock consisting mostly of colored Corriedale sheep. By October, we had built a small barn and installed about 4000 feet of permanent fencing to get us through our first winter. With 25 acres of grass, the sheep have plenty of room to grow. We produce and sell beautiful natural colored and dyed yarns, lambskin rugs, hand-knitted/felted hats, and lamb sausage.

Why they chose this property

This is a quintessential Vermont setting with all the modern amenities and just minutes away from several of towns, and dozens of activities and outdoor fun.

What makes this property unique

You know it's special when the local folks come visit and say, 'I had no idea there was a view like this!'

Easy to get to (close to the intersection of I-89 and I-91) but so far away from it all!

The views are to die for!
