Great stay - clean and close!

We enjoyed our stay. The house is as advertised. It was a great spot for us. The owner was helpful and timely with one issue we had to get wasp spray for a nest they had built near the front door. We would stay here again.

Needs a little updating, but otherwise a great place to stay!

Overall great place to stay. Had some trouble with the TV at the beginning of our stay. Texted the manager and never heard from him. Figured out the TV so not a big deal.

Another house rental

House is ok the view is fantastic from the Deck + Great location. The house needs some attention starting at the front door, the handle turns both ways but only one way opens, lot of lights led on dimmers need dim able led bulbs as the flicker etc, a few bulbs out, rear porch lights out, kitchen fry pan and others handles loose pretty bad, pepper flakes too big for dispenser, only 1 small flipper and no tongs for cooking and a few more things need some attention. A little work and few dollars this house will be up to average experience with the other 40 or so we have rented. The View was worth the frustration of nagging issues.

Doing the Ouray area jeep trails

House was located in secluded area with beautiful views, from large front porch, was very quiet. Living room impressive, excellent value for 3 br. When booking we ask Evolve, the mgt. co. a couple questions, their reply was you will get that inf. after book before arrival, no help. A few minor issues, The back porch light was out, The BR tv was connecter to LR tv, requiring it to be on channel 60 to get reception, a note would have been helpful, as I only found it the last day. The home only had ref air in LR. WE accidently got off with a kitchen knife, Brock kindly offered to meet my brother in Ridgeway to retrieve it, which he did after a friendly visit. We would stay again if needed 2 or 3 Brs. Odis, from Frisco (Dallas area) who enjoys Ouray and Moab world class jeep trails, and scenic views

Clean, nice views, old unit

Well cleaned and has everything you need (except dishwasher...). Highlight is the view into the mountains/canyon and the amazing deck! House/furniture are old/outdated.

Won't accommodate 6 person

It is a cozy older home, but can't accommodate 6 guests, it has tiny table with 3 dinning chairs only, Need little bit better kitchen amenities too - No dishwasher, chipped bowls and plates. Also need to stock enough toiletries, can't find second roll of toilet paper and paper towel while staying there for 4 nights.

Cozy stay with plenty of space and an amazing view

This rental was amazing! The porch offers an incredible view and is a great place to hang out. Only a couple minutes drive from downtown Ouray. We had three people, but even with the full six allowed it would be very spacious. Would definitely stay again!

White House Whispering Pine

This was a cozy little house, very comfortable, older home, needs a little better in kitchen amenities ( pots, pans, silverware, etc). Pictures of home are misleading( kudos to photographer)it is in a pretty close neighborhood. Like the area (Ouray) my preference is to be out of close neighborhoods. Perfect if you prefer close neighborhoods! The owner owns the Hot Springs Inn in Ouray, great place very spacious rooms, we came in a day earlier and stayed there the manager and staff were great A+ on Inn and A for home! Thank you to owner and rental companies!

Enjoyed our stay.

The facilities were very nice. The location was great. The fact that I had to download an app that charged fifty dollars so we could get the address and code to the key box is puzzling. Also, on the statement under owners fees I’m not sure why we were charged twice for cleaning fees. Overall we did enjoy our stay.

Gorgeous area and great host

First of all, our host went above and beyond when we left behind a few very important personal belongings. He kindly agreed to ship them to us and we couldn’t be more thankful that he is doing so! The area is absolutely lovely. Stunning views, great shopping and restaurants in town and the Alpine loop is a once in a lifetime experience. The exterior of the cabin has obviously undergone renovations, the new porch is wonderful. The inside is well kept, orderly and the host kindly provided fans in each bedroom, a portable AC in the living area and detailed, helpful information in the guest book. To comment on what others have said about the inside of the cabin, while it isn’t completely brand new, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the interior. Yes, it’s older but clean, well maintained and we didn’t experience any issues with bugs or dust/dirt. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Bathrooms well kept. Bedrooms has fresh linens. Televisions, satellite channels and DVD player provided. Having a washer and dryer was great. The host thoughtfully includes brochures for various activities and a booklet of menus for the local restaurants with advertisements for the local shops. Everything was in working order and it was a great place to come back to at the end of the day. We couldn’t have enjoyed our experience more and highly recommend the property.

Beautiful Exterior

We enjoyed this property, and I so wanted to give it 5 stars, but I cannot. The exterior of the home had received great attention. There are new windows, siding, and 2 new decks — one in the front and one in the back. We spent most of our daylight hours outside, chasing the shade on the decks and enjoying the view. Inside, I don’t mind the older finishes and no dishwasher. There is an AC unit in the main area to take the edge off of the daytime heat in that room. However, the furniture in the living room is on its last legs and was less than comfortable for us, and the kitchen could use about $150 worth of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc., from Walmart (based on my experience with our own vacation rental property). There is only one wooden cutting board. People have taken to destroying the placemats to use them to cut meat for cooking. While the place sleeps 6, there are no six plates the same (although the plates that are there are nice), and there are exactly 6 dinner forks and a few more salad forks. There are exactly 2 pots and 3 frying pans (one of which should be in the trash), and none of the frying pans could comfortably fit a full length pieces of bacon. Just a little more attention on the inside and this place would rate 5 stars in my book. If you plan on cooking, which I think more people will be doing, you will be disappointed in how the kitchen is outfitted.

Quite a disappointment

Super excited for a girls weekend, wanting to watch scary movies at night so we double tripled checked that there was a DVD player listed in the amenities-there was! We get settled and go to watch a movie and can’t find a DVD player anywhere. We contact the owner who says there is no DVD player. So that is super disappointing since that was a big part of our weekend. One of the girls wakes up the next morning to find that there is black mold in her bedroom window-yikes! I take a shower in the master bathroom and the tub is so clogged that there is water up past my ankles which to me makes me feel like I didn’t get completely clean. We go to fill the dishwasher-which is one of the requirements-please put all dishes in dishwasher and run-there is no dishwasher. There were bugs on the carpet, smudges on the mirror- the overall cleanliness was lacking. The worst part was the front deck that was basically falling down. We all had to dodge the nail that would poke through when you stepped up on the stairs. Thank goodness we found it with our eyes before our feet found it. The overall the stay was nice but it wasn’t due to the house-the views are beautiful and the town is wonderful but for the price of this home I would say spend a bit more and stay somewhere else. It’s a big deal when the listing says it has certain amenities and it doesn’t and so is cleanliness.

Disappointed

Stayed here for a girls trip, which getting us three together with our busy schedules is insane. We came up wanting to drink wine, terrify ourselves with scary movies and spend our day in the beautiful town. The location is gorgeous but for the money we spent for two nights...everything else just isn’t okay. For starters that back deck is just unsafe. It moves when you walk on it. Then for the movies, it stayed they had a DVD player. We made sure we checked and there it was in the amenities, and NOPE. We bought all the scary movies and brought all the wine for when it is dark only to be disappointed. Contacted the owner and he told us there isn’t one. Okay fine. Maybe take it out of the amenities list? There’s black mold in the window sill of one of the back bedrooms. The water is white (if it’s well water which is our guess, maybe that should be stated. Unfortunately we aren’t used to that). I’m just saying for $600 to stay in a house for basically 1.5 days. Sure it’s two nights but you can’t check in until 4 the day you get there and you have to leave at 10. You’re there for 1.5 days. Oh! And there’s no dishwasher to put your dishes in like instructed to. There’s just no care to update their listing because they are making money either way? I don’t know. But the black mold was troubling. Manager's Response: We're sorry to hear that your stay didn't meet your expectations. We reached out to the homeowner who would like to note that they are replacing the deck, and they have purchased a new DVD player. The owner also looked into your concern of mold and can confirm that there is no mold present in the property. We also carefully set competitive rates for each property after a thorough analysis of the property itself and the surrounding area. However, we apologize if you were not able to find the value in this home. We hope you'll consider traveling with Evolve again! Best, the Evolve Team

Great Stay in Ouray

This was a great VRBO. Everything was as advertised and the property was very clean and well kept. The master bedroom bed was comfortable and we slept very well. We had a great time relaxing out on the deck gazing at the stars. We would certainly stay here again. We had no need to contact the property owner but we’re sure he would have been available if needed. You will enjoy this place if you choose to stay.

Good but needing major improvements

Cute house in a beautiful area with awesome views of the mountains.... Our accommodations were fine overall, but what the photos didn't show was that the house and outside areas were in desperate need of updating, decluttering, cleaning and overall maintenance. The back patio had large quantities of building materials strewn about and two full garbage bins overflowing with cans and plastic bottles. Saying the front deck needed painting is an understatement. Underneath that deck was accumulated debris that was a noticeable eyesore as you drove up to the property. Trees and shrubs throughout the grounds had been neglected for who knows how long. Regarding the inside, the wall decorations were in tremendous need of updating and reorganizing, and many dust-catchers needed to be pitched. The large wall clock above the kitchen table did not work. The living room furniture was old and worn. One sofa had an old slip-cover on it and the other had a faux leather piece strewn about--neither were inviting to sit on. All the living room furniture was shabby and needed to be dumped and replaced with fresh pieces. The dirty, worn out white shag carpet throughout the entire house needed to be replaced. It's doubtful that cleaning it would make it look better for very long. Likewise with the dysfunctional draperies and hardware. Some were transparent so they were not effective at night. All the draperies needed replacing. Touch-up paint was needed in the hall bath. There were bugs in the west bedroom window sill, cob webs in the kitchen, and bugs and litter underneath the living room furniture. Even the handles of two of the old skillets that were provided were loose…so dangerous to use when frying bacon! There were no grab bars in either shower which should be a standard requirement for rentals in 2019. Come on! When visitors are spending their bucks they deserve better than this. Spend some money, spruce it up, clean it up and make your guests feel like they are appreciated for choosing your property…. On another note, we had a serious medical emergency in the middle of the night. We left a message with our contact person. No response. Okay it was late, but we saw him the next morning and he didn't even inquire. Pretty disappointing….

The View was amazing each day

I wish the property had A/C but leaving the windows opened helped cool everything down in the afternoons. Town is really close by so anytime we needed to run back to the house for something it wasn't a big deal. Plenty of room for six adults. Make sure if you want to grill you bring your own grill supplies. we made due with foil and forks to flip the chicken on the grill. Great house for families or honeymoon. Everyday we found something new to love.

Outdoor wonderland

Gorgeous location and we (5) made it fine for the week. However, the dining table too small (round w/ 3 stools), furniture very uncomfortable and kitchen not well provided (cooking and eating utensils inadequate, no ice trays, could only open one crisper in frig, no blender, etc. ). The deck was wonderful when skeeters weren’t out. Very clean which was great and manager very responsive to our inquiries and requests. Ouray is fantastic for hiking, waterfalls, kayaking, swimming in mineral hot springs, jeeping off road, mine tours—great trip!
