About this property

Whispering Pines Cottage - Surrounded by Pemaquid Lake with beautiful views

Whispering Pines is one of our original 1930s vintage cottages and is located on the pennisula of the cove with 180 degree views of Pemaquid Lake. It has the best lake views on the property with a fully functioning kitchen, one 3/4 bath with a shower and one bedroom that accommodates 3 plus a pull-out sofa in the living room. The cozy living room is a perfect spot to watch the lake wildlife whether it is watching eagles fishing in the lake or loons swimming by. The cottage is equipped with electric heat to take out the chill on cool Spring and Fall days. There is a fireplace with hearth available for additional heating if necessary. Cable TV is available. Maximum occupancy is 5.

Great start to summer

Lovely cottage, Whispering Pines, enjoyed the serenity of being on the point. The 3 sided water view was incredibly relaxing. Saw an eagle, several days, sitting on a dead tree out on one of the islands, was glad I brought the binoculars. Loons, ducks, geese family. We had a lovely time, I can see why the cottages get booked quickly.

Absolutely Beautiful

My husband and I (and our fur baby) stayed in Whispering Pines for a week. Our stay was very peaceful. Our cottage had plenty of room and lots of windows. We had a beautiful view of the lake on three sides. We will be back.

About the host

Lakehurst has been in operation as a family business on the coast of Maine since the early 1920’s. After a brief period as “Camp Pemaquid”, a boys’ summer camp, the original cottages were converted into all-seasonal rentals for those seeking a lakeside retreat. The property has been in the Pinkham family for over 4 generations. Today, Dan and Ann Pinkham, along with their sons Dan Jr., Jon, and Josh, own and operate Lakehurst Properties LLC.

Why they chose this property

Whispering Pines has one of the most beautiful lake views of any cottage on Pemaquid Lake. You will enjoy watching lake life in the comfort of your living room.

Lakehurst Camps are located in beautiful rural Damariscotta, Maine with easy access to US Route 1. The quiet natural beauty of Lakehurst offers our guests a relaxing environment in which to enjoy nature at its best. Join us for your next family vacation.

What makes this property unique

The peaceful setting at Lakehurst includes a private, safe, and shallow natural sand beach oasis that is ideal for swimming, sunbathing , spending quiet afternoons reading a book and relaxing with the family.

Pemaquid Lake offers over 15 miles of water for fishing and exploration with access by boat to Biscay Pond, Duck Puddle Pond, and the Pemaquid River. There is excellent fishing throughout the watershed for pickerel, perch, brown trout and bass. Beautiful and historic downtown Damariscotta is only minutes away where you can experience a vibrant mix of unique shops, community services, fine dining, the Lincoln Theatre and many artists’ galleries.
Located near the head of the Damariscotta River, twelve miles from the ocean, Damariscotta is a key focal point for mid coast Maine residents and visitors. The town is the gateway to the Pemaquid Region which includes popular historical attractions such as the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and the colonial restoration at Fort William Henry, and also provides a great jumping off point to the entire Maine Coast including islands like Monhegan.

We look forward to hosting you and your family for a true “Maine Experience”!
