Welcome to your rustic chic retreat! Awe-inspiring views and serenity will be yours at this Gatineau Park house on Meech Lake in Quebec, Canada; an easy 20 minute drive from downtown Ottawa.

The Space
This private house has two bedrooms, one loft and comfortably fits 5 guests. There are 1 king (Master Bedroom), 1 double (second bedroom) and one queen sofa bed (living room).
There is an ensuite bathroom with shower and bath and one additional half bathroom.
A dream kitchen is fully equipped and has a gas range with 2 ovens.
There are two fireplaces, one in the living room, another in the dining room. Firewood is included.
A washer/dryer is available in the adjacent laundry room.
Linens and towels are included.
The home has wireless-internet coverage, Satellite TV and local phone.

The surroundings
Located in the middle of the Gatineau Park, right on Meech lake, with a large and gorgeous boat house to chill out and prepare your BBQs.
The house is surrounded by miles of groomed paths for hiking, biking and cross country skiing. Two kayaks are at your disposal to fully enjoy the lake. The gentle slope and weed free beach is great for swimming, even for young kids. It is the best destination for sightseers during the Rhapsody Fall Colour Festival. In the winter, cross country skiers could not be happier here or a quick 5 minute drive will take you to Camp Fortune ski hill.

The Old Chelsea village has its unique and fun ambiance with shops, coffee places and many great restaurants like Les fougères, l’Orée du bois, Mamma Teresa and many more… La Cigale has the best homemade ice cream!
Le Nordic Spa is a must to relax and rejuvenate!
Golf courses and mini-putt are also really close-by; Dunnderosa and Larrimac are among those.
A short 20 minute drive will take you to Canada's Capital, museums, By-ward market, Rideau Canal and Parliament’s Hill to only name few...

Tulip Festival

We came up for the tulip festival and wanted to experience the city of Ottawa but wanted to be away from city life for down time. This house was perfect for exactly that. With great proximity to Ottawa it was easy in and out. Once you arrive to the house it seems a world away. We did not here any sounds and rested well inside. The boat house area was wonderful. A visit to Old Chelsea is a must, with quaint shops and excellent food choices! Thank you for sharing this home with us.

Beautiful home!

The house is beautiful, very clean and well provisioned. We very much enjoyed our stay. The only downside was that there are about 40 stairs from the parking area to the front door, which was a bit tricky for my bad back and my daughter’s sore hip. So you should be in decent physical health for that. Otherwise it was a fabulous getaway, very relaxing.

Wonderful!

This property and the location exceeded our expectations. The property had everything we needed(kitchen supplies,bedding,etc.). The boathouse waterfront was perfect for relaxation, kayaking the lake, enjoying nature and enjoying meals outdoors. Would definitely return and highly recommend!!

Just Wow!

This was an amazing stay. Much better in person as the pictures don’t do it justice. Nancy does a fantastic job of thinking of the little extras to make your stay feel like home. If I could have given 6 stars, I would have. This lake is pristine and quiet. Best over the water patio and screened in porch on the lake with all the things you would need to stay there all day if you wanted. Stayed 5 nights in June and would definitely stay there again.

Great and relaxing stay

This was a great home to fully relax and enjoy a change of scenery in a perfect location. Nancy is a great host, timely responses to all questions. Home is well setup for your stay. This was our second time at this property and will definitely be back again.

Beautiful property on an iconic Canadian lake

This is a wonderful spacious house. The kitchen is extremely well set up and very high end. The house is bright and open. Although the lake was still frozen we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Meech lake review

Great property and great location. Accessibility was somewhat challenging given the elevation and steps. But we managed. Tranquil peaceful and very private.

An absolutely perfect stay: a beautiful home, stunning location on the lake and a great host

Beautiful retreat

The home is gorgeous. A large fully equipped kitchen that I enjoyed cooking our meals in whilst enjoying the views of the the lake from the large windows. The living room is relaxing with books and games. There is an upstairs tv room which separate from the peace of the house . The pictures do not do the home justice. The deck is very large with an indoor room adjoined. The lake is peaceful and quiet with no motor boats. It was a beautiful retreat. Thanks Nancy

Great host and amazing place

Nancy is a great host and is always available to help if ever needed. The place is magnificent with incredible and panoramic views of Meech Lake. The place is extremely clean and very nicely appointed. One of he best features is the kitchen which spacious and a joy to cook in. I would recommend to anyone.

Christmas 2019

Our family spent 3 memorable weeks tucked away in this luxurious retreat on Meech Lake over the holidays. The home felt comfortable from the minute we got there. In fact, the two fireplaces were blazing when we walked in, thanks to Nancy's hospitality. We love to cook and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed and more - the double gas oven and le creuset cookware were a real luxury. The area had trails for snow shoeing, hiking with crampons, skiing (day and night), skating on the lake, Nordic spa, Chelsea Pub, and only a 20 minute drive to downtown Ottawa. Having only one TV was perfect - we enjoyed lots of cards games over the break. Outside stairs and inside stairs to the loft (tv area) were a bit tricky and required some care when using. One more bedroom for our second adult son would have been ideal (just two bedrooms which we did know going in) but we made it work. Thanks, Nancy, for making Christmas 2019 a holiday we will always remember!

Cozy, well-appointed cabin on the lake

This is our second visit after discovering this beautiful home last February. Enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend. Feels like visiting someone's well-loved home. The kitchen is very well stocked, making it easy to host a big turkey dinner. Nancy is very prompt and helpful in her responses. Ideally the couch in the loft would be the fold-out, instead of (or in addition to) the one in the main living room but otherwise, we managed to sleep 4 adults comfortably. Hope to visit again in the future.

Gorgeous home, in a charming town

Nancy’s cottage on the hill exceeded our expectations. The home itself was larger than pictured - high ceilings and beautiful tile floors - very open and airy. It was perfect for us and our 3 pre-teens. As other reviewers noted - there is a steep climb up rocky stairs - so take note when packing. The boathouse across the street offered gorgeous views of the lake; plenty of room to sun or sit inside for some shade. There was zero boat traffic, just lots of swimmers and kayakers. The town of Old Chelsea was absolutely charming, offering great restaurants and bakeries. We can’t wait to return!

Great house and surroundings, but the sleeping situation could be better for five grown-ups

Wir verbrachten wunderbare Tage in einem wunderschönen Haus. Man spürt, dass das Haus von der Eigentümerin sehr geschätzt und geliebt wird: Toll eingerichtet, perfekt ausgestattete Küche, Klavier, Bücher und Zeitschriften. Aber die Schlafsituation war für uns - Eltern mit drei großen Kindern - schwierig. Denn neben einem guten Schlafzimmer mit breitem Bett und Fenster, gab es nur noch ein Zimmer mit einem 1,35 m breiten Bett, dessen Fenster eine nicht zu öffnende Dachluke war. Dann gab es noch ein Ausziehsofa im Wohnzimmer, dessen Matratze nicht sehr komfortabel war. Dazu konnte keines der Fenster in irgendeiner Weise verdunkelt werden. Also: Perfekt für drei - bei fünf Gästen müsste noch nachgebessert werden.

Beautiful!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the property. Meech lake and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The boat house made for a perfect way to enjoy the lake. The cottage was quite spacious, clean and well stocked as well. We would definitely come back!

Beautiful home and boat house on the lake.

Amazing Vacation Home

We had a wonderful vacation week at Meech Lake. Nancy's home is absolutely stunning, beautifully designed and very comfortable. The lake was lovely and the region feels peaceful and remote but is very close to anything you could ever want. If you get a chance to stay here you won't be disappointed!

Wonderful Canadian Vacation Home

This beautiful home was the perfect getaway place for our family vacation Just right for our family of three. We had everything we needed to stay comfortably. The boathouse was fun for cooking out and fishing - lots of fishing! Meech Lake is so clean and clear. As another reviewer mentioned, there are a number of stairs leading up to the house, but for our trips up and down once or twice a day, it wasn't a big issue. It would not deter us from staying here again. The area is beautiful, quiet, and only a short 20 minute drive from Ottawa.
