Wonderful

Such a special and unique place to stay. The cottage has everything you need, and you can watch for whales from your deck as well as other vantage points on the property. And if you're not whale-watching it's fun to watch all the deer, raccoons and foxes that live on the property.

Peace and quiet

Very remote cabin located on the shore. The cabin is clean and comfortable. Great views of the sunset (unfortunately no whale sightings). Convenient to the parks on the west and south side of the island. The cabin is set up for a long stay but bring your groceries and everything you need to cook-the stores are not close by. Recommended for a peaceful vacation

Beautiful location

The pace was accurately depicted on VRBO. Access was easy and informative, as well, the property was clean and location was one of the most beautiful I have been to.

Magical view of lime kiln lighthouse

Photos don’t do this place justice. The view of lime kiln lighthouse is truly stunning. The tranquility and wildness of the location is amazing. Waking up and coming home to an array of wild deer, raccoons and foxes is like a Disney paradise. Would highly recommend

Wonderful Stay

This is our second time in this wonderful property, and we cannot wait to plan our next trip! The views, tranquility and location are absolutely amazing, and you are surrounded in nature with easy access to activities that the island offers.

Fantastic views

Highly recommended. The home is as pictured. The views are just outstanding. The home was spotless and comfortable. We bumped into the property owners and they are great people and have a wonderful place. You'll enjoy it.

Perfect and Serene

This is one of the best rentals we have ever stayed in. It is down a back road so very quiet and we were totally immersed in nature and animals. We saw the orca pods twice from the balcony. The lighthouse is in full view and lit up at night. The large ships passing by are very entertaining. You can see the Olympics and Vancouver Island. Many deer, foxes and a cute raccoon pass through the property daily. The house had everything we needed and the furniture & beds were very comfortable. Tidy, well decorated, clean & just the perfect size for us. We absolutely loved our stay. 5 stars all the way.

Kind of disappointing

So so many fruit flies! An iron, but no ironing board No Kleenex?! No forewarning that parking was 80 yards away Tub drain needs work Bedrooms should both have nightstands No wine glasses!

A perfect stay in Paradise

This property is a little slice of heaven! The views of the lighthouse, Olympic Range, myriad of shorebirds, the ever-changing water and the passing ships was all the entertainment we needed. We even saw a pod of orcas through our binoculars. The cabin is cozy, warm, beautifully appointed, the beds are super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. Best sleep ever for both of us. The resident deer greeted us every morning, and we caught a glimpse of the red fox as he trotted by. Our host was friendly and helpful, but totally unobtrusive. The property management company responded immediately to our Internet issue and came right out to fix it that night. Complete peace and quiet, overwhelming beauty, and exquisite comfort. What more could we ask for?

West side pleasure

We enjoyed seeing the freighters sailing to and from Vancouver. Cabin was VERY clean and in good shape. I would recommend the bedroom pillows be replaced as they are uncomfortable -- compress to almost nothing and then reinflate -- so we fought with them to get our heads comfortable. Bathroom tap needs some lubricant -- very hard to pull up on the knob and get water flow. And the screen door on the deck has the return cylinder set too strong so you kinda of get whacked going in and out......would suggest reducing the return pressure just a bit. These issues weren't major problems however.

Amazing Views and Whales to Watch

The views from this property are absolutely lovely--as is the property itself. The house could use a few improvements. There is no gas or barbecue grill. Even though there were three in our party, there are only two chairs on the deck and further out on the property. There are no cushions for any outdoor seating, so it's not very comfortable. The sofa is a bit old and really sinks down, so you can't even see out the windows unless you sit at the dining table. The owner feeds the wild animals out of her hand and the use of a leaf blower at 9:00 a.m. when check out was at 10 really was not appreciated. We were packing up and would have enjoy a last few minutes of tranquility.

Cute. ADU attached property with wonderful partial views of Lime Kiln lighthouse

Things we loved: The wildlife on property; fox, deer, lots of birds and raccoons. (Unfortunately the whales are not frequenting this area as much as they have in the past because of lower food supply, so we didn’t see whales from this space) The view of deck, although partially obstructed with trees was lovely. Things that need improvements; For this being one of the most expensive smaller attached adus on the island. The ADU comes with discarded and broken household furniture and appliances, dishes. There are no wine glasses but only plastic stemware from the dollar store. There is a broken grandfather clock in bedroom. The kitchen was lacking baking dishes, a mixer, updated appliances. The reason why this is so disappointing to me is this issue has been mentioned several times in reviews dating back ten years but nothing has been done. There are lots of Farms on the island and not that great restaurants and not having the tools to be able to cook was disappointing. Also, considering how much it costs not being greeted with at least coffee for the morning was -a shock. The owners live next door on property. I felt like the owners don’t really take very much pride into having guests on their property. They do not act as if we are guests , but rather we should feel privileged to be there and felt subhuman. To top it all off, the parking for the unit is a bit designated away unlike owner if you don’t park there they will Be woken up at 7 am!!

Beautiful and serene

Wow, what a beautiful retreat! The deck and view were amazing, could see Lime Kiln lighthouse and full ocean view. Had everything we needed comfort wise, we did stock up with cooler and food for our 3 days before getting on the ferry since we’ve done several trips to more “remote” spots and weren’t sure what to expect on SJI. Actually, we could’ve just shopped at Friday Harbor grocery store, but with the ferry delay it worked out best for us. We arrived later than expected at 8 pm, but given the light of the summer evenings, it was like sunset time. Our mouths were already agape with the beauty of the island during the drive, we were even more blown away when we pulled into the driveway to be met with 4 deer, a fox, and a raccoon on his hind legs, all in the front yard, heads turned toward us just frozen for a minute. We felt like we had just entered a magical forest island, which…we had. Great location, did some forest to view hikes each day, on the south, central and west side of the island for the most part, returning to our own paradise spot by late afternoon. No whales spotted, but we got our fill of nature’s beauty for sure. Had everything we needed in kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, and being able to do laundry before heading to our second leg in Olympic NP cut down on our packing. Brief encounters with the owners, they were very kind. Really good, clear instructions posted inside the property. We will definitely be back, but will make ferry reservations early!
